MARGO ELDER Te x a s S t a t e U n i v e r s i t y
How I found my calling... I am a Texas native that grew up in a suburb called Cypress, Texas. I often found myself participating in creative activities, I knew at a young age that Interior Design was what I wanted to do with my life. I grew up with the women in my family always going re-sale shopping and finding beauty in things that were old and unique. I found that turning something that has lost its meaning to one person can become something beautiful and new to someone else. I now see that my life has always been about transforming and transitioning to the next stage. I also found the beauty of dance at a young age, which lead to a 17 year dancing career. Growing up I learned how important it was to have form, grace, and respect due to growing up in a dance studio. Little did I know at the time it gave me expressive creativity, allowing me to get into choreography in my later years of dance. I found that you can express yourself without saying a word. Dancing has also allowed me to travel the world. London, Paris, Hawaii, Lake Tahoe and many places around America where I was able to learn to appriecate my love for architecture and culture. All my past experiences has lead me to design, and grown my love for the arts, and the joy of transforming a space. I look forward to what is in store for my future knowing that I have chosen a career that I will love for the rest of my life.

Architecture and Interior Design Firm
NEXT is a global architecture and interior design firm who is relocating their Santa Monica office to downtown Los Angeles. The client wants to re-fresh the local brand presence by having LA characteristics intergated into the design; re-evaluate the needs of a traditional office space by eliminating outdated ways of working; by not using assigned private offices, having workers select where they work everyday whether it be individual or in groups; and lastly design a studio of the future by intergating technology and by having spaces that can transform with time. Igneous Erupted onto the surface allowing large products to form Zones: Conference rooms and training rooms
Metamorphic Formed under pressure, uplife and erosion to help bring rock to surface Zones: Open/ individual office, work cafe, reception, waiting area, and pin up
Sedimentary Process of layers getting turned into rock, it is where everything comes back together Zones: Mother’s room, phone room, design library, model space, resource room, and private offices
Concept Stratum
[strey-tuh m, strat-uh m] A layer of material, naturally or artificially formed The stratum of NEXT holds every piece of the firm together. The design process develops in different forms of collaboration resembling the different processes of how rocks are formed. Together the many different stratums form creating the NEXT and newest layer. Without the layers creating a strong bond, the new stratum would not emerge. Comparing to how igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rock form to how different parts of the architecture and interior design firm collaborate. Whether the process be having ideas erupt from the old to form a new idea, being put under pressure having to develop the NEXT design, or the relaxing areas where your brain needs to rest in order to develop new ideas.

Senior Living Facility Continuous living facilities have been evolving to better serve the needs of the elderly population. By making the three levels of care transition seamlessly with the individual, assisted, and memory care living are all offered in the same community. This project addresses the contemporary issues by exploring the cognitive, physiological, and psychological needs to explain the way individuals interact with their environment and ways to improve senior living. The project is located in Wimberley, Texas which will enrich the local community. Texas State University is collaborating in the development to be able to provide research inhouse on senior living and memory care. The elderly care community will affect the users within but will also transform the way elderly care works everywhere. “Weaving holds everything together, materials and life, successes and failures
About Suzanne Tick Tick's life and work has always been a narration of balance. She investigates materials, pairing the thick with the thin, the dull with the brilliant, and the colorful with the neutral. Coming up with new materials and new ways to weave. She has maintained a distinguished career as a textile designer and studio Principal at Suzanne Tick Inc., in New York City. Currently she is partnered with Teknion Textiles and Knoll Textiles. In addition to her work in commerical interiors, Suzanne maintains a hand weaving practice and creates woven sculptures from repurposed materials.

Harper's Remodel John and Kelli want to remodel their 1930’s old schoolhouse by overall inprovement. Making the house ADA accessible, and by using finishes that are substainable and durable for a household of seven since Grandma just moved in. Transforming the old schoolhouse into a farmhouse style home with accents of the old schoolhouse in the design is another important design goal. The family enjoys spending time outside, and now they will bring the outside inside. The blue and green color scheme will not only tie in the outside, it will make the space a welcoming, and relaxing space for the family to unwind at the end of the day.
