Designing your home can be overwhelming. There are many elements that must fit together, from furniture to flooring, to fixtures and everything in between. Where to begin? When planning the design of your floor, we find it most helpful to consider the direction you want to install the floor before choosing a color. This allows you to narrow your product selection based on the luxury vinyl formats that can or cannot be installed for how you want the space to function.
Think of your most common footpath through the space and have the floor installed in that direction. This will naturally guide you through the area and lay a good foundation for supporting the arrangement of other interior finishes, like your sofa or dining set. For a room that has multiple footpaths or entryways, consider a multi-directional pattern like a herringbone. This will keep the space open and effortlessly guide you and visitors throughout your home.
You may also want to consider highlighting permanent fixtures within the room, like a kitchen island. Or, in a large foyer, you may wish to incorporate an inlay panel with pattern to carve out an entryway.
