GLASGOW CALEDONIAN UNIVERSITY BA (Hons) INTERIOR DESIGN

Interior design has always been my primary interest. My passion for design, art, architecture, photography and travelling has grown over the years. Learning how to use my skills to create unique and powerful spaces has led to dramatic aspects of interior spaces. All of my interests have made a huge impact of my designs. Travelling and art have dominated my perspective and viewpoint. I believe only work can describe people and only work will make a person alive. My work becomes my personal language to communicate with others. I am interested movement in life and ability to adapt in different environments. Being cosmopolitan myself and also looking for my own space in this world. I would describe myself as an independent human, where sex should not be of importance because we are all “equal.” I am interested in the position of females within the 21st century and the loss of substance and the meaning of words such as love, friendship, respect, dignity, and trust. I believe in a utopia version of love and I am interested in that vision in surrounding my reality in the present time. I am a thinker who analyses the qualities in life and the destructive power of social media. “You can feel what you see. “ Margot Mac

EARTH

Contemporary Art Gallery

Concept

We are commissioned to design areas detailed interior for Earth Contemporary Art Gallery. The mood of the gallery will reflect a modern, contemporary style. However, at the same time will keep some elements from original construction and atmosphere from the previews time to establish sophisticated gallery with a fresh touch of innovative look and advanced technology. The main mood element is “water”.

THE

Church Street Swimming Pool and Janitor’s House also known as the old “swimming baths off Byres Road “ was built in 1903 by architect Donald Bruce E A B Hay. The building is three stories high, the main entrance is from Byres Road (bounded also by Church Street, Torness Street) which leads us straight to the main areas of the building which is 21-meter long swimming pool. Earth Contemporary Art Gallery has an open plan space and the entire art collection is a mix of artwork which isn’t divided to any one group. This flexibility allows visitors the chance to explore the gallery collection in a spontaneous way and discover different artworks around the gallery.

The temporary exhibition will be located on the ground floor. The space will be an open plan to allow all areas to flow from one area into another. The basement will be converted to the workshop creative space with ability to connect artists, while giving them an opportunity to learn, develop skills and collaborate. For the exhibition the gallery will be divided into big and small volumes of space. The atrium will make the biggest impact of the entire gallery. Innovative LED lighting on the ceiling throughout the exhibition spaces will help create the perfect mood for the variety of exhibitions.

Along with adding in-part plaster on top of old sandstone walls will bring out the surface of the sandstone and will connect visitors to the past. Visitors will have a chance to experience different atmospheres inside the gallery which will be achieved by contrasting levels of space. The construction elements for the sculpture areas will create a unique mood by using lights from skylights. The exhibition’s surface walls will be white and smooth. The main theme of the concept is water. This element will be constantly repeated in the entire design. The repeated reference to water will help visitors connect to the name of the gallery “Earth” and to reflect the past of the swimming pool that was once used in this space.

MEMORY THE

Installation

Earth Contemporary Art Gallery which will be a continuity of the idea represented by A.I.R Gallery in Europe, where women will have a chance to present their own work but with a new approach and touch. Earth Gallery will be open for collaboration with any other artist from around the world. In order to build a connection between different countries, culture, and gender; to show that art is for everyone, where there are no barriers between humans. We were inspired by works of one of the members of the A.I.R Gallery; Ana Mendieta. We want to make a statement about women’s artwork in the 21st century to open a door for connection to the audience, and to make an interaction between women in the art world and gallery visitors.

PsY original name Park Jae-Sang South Korean singer and rapper. Originally known as a controversial and satirical hip-hop artist, he achieved international fame in 2012 with the music video to his humorous pop song “Gangnam Style” Street View of The PsY Hotel

The client PsY is making big impact of the whole concept and design solution, by his charisma and controversial personality we will create interior for each area with strong character which will reflect the cultural aspects of the South Korean and unique personality of are client PsY but in new, fresh way mixed with East and West elements of the interior.

Namdaemun-ro, Jung-gu, Jung-Gu, 04526 Seoul, South Korea

The building is the 5-storey high converted brick warehouse with basement. The structure is essentially as original - cast iron columns with steel beams.

Art Wok of the Anish Kapoor and Jeff Koons will really make big statement to the strong and controversial character of PsY and will create amazing story and massage to the people interested in art and ambition to explore.

The building still preserve the character, texture and historical grain The Ground Floor will accommodate the reception area, lounge bar, shop and a restaurant. The light box marks the foundation’s shop window, the principal face of the building which gives way to the old resection and ground floor.

Each of the artist reflects in the own art work some aspects and issues from the human life, each of them have one unique style to express that elements but both of them are controversial with big impact of the art world in 21st century.

On the front we have old and a tall muscular door opening onto a ramped brick path.

The proposal for PoP Up Shop name “ConFusion”which will be situated in different location around UK in 2018 to promote and highlight client’s exhibition. The Pop Up Shop will be no longer then one week in each place and will merchandise “Transparent” t-shirts, bags etc, with photographs of art work Alfredo Jaar. The proposal of the Pop Up Shop interior is reflecting art work of the artist and is creating the illusion of the space where walls reducing the floors space but celling will give extra high. The plan area of the shop is 3m*3m and high 3.4m (in my case). The hole construction of the shop is minimalistic but at the same time really strongly “communicating “with s u r ro u n d i n g e nv i ro n m e n t a l by reflective aluminium walls which they making illusion and deformation. Inside of the shop is in one texture and the same colour to make ConFusion even more stronger. The interior is highlighted by lighting and screens 600mm*600mm and to crate shadows and put some attention to merchandising product in small 100mm*100mm transparent boxes where the transparency is the key of the selling products. Inside the shop the walls are having the shelf function and there is a cashier point and customised chairs which they having storage function.

Concept Shape

Concept of the installation is connected with Fish one of the elements from the Glasgow Coat of Arms and the story behind.

Structure

CORTEN STEEL

From

As mentioned above the sculpture is connected to Glasgow’s coat of arms. Pipes are used to outline the shape of a fish with six hoops representing the body. The hoops have cut outs which in turn spells out the letters COG, which stands for City Of Glasgow. This is achieved by placing the hoops in a straight line and with the following hoops becoming smaller.
