“THINGS” BY CASTELAO.
In these pages, we are shown drawings by Castelao, together with texts where it is depicted the rural Galicia, the poor people, the helpless, the people who suffer, under a realistic and critical vision, but also full of humour, what can be considered “satire”. In the drawings one can notice the difficulties in the lives of the Galician people, distressed by poverty. Castelao’s writing style is brief, concise, not bothering about descriptions. Mª José Andrade Campos. Orientadora IES Enrique Muruais.
SOMETIMES, IN HIS DRAWINGS, CASTELAO DECLARES THE OBSCURE PROCESS OF BIRTH OF A CONSCIENCE;THERE ARE MEN AN WOMEN OUT OF A MIGHTMARE INSTINCTIVE.THE EYES OF CHILDREN AND THE ELDERLY ALWAYS LOOK FOR FURTHER, STONY AND PLANT STRENGTH OF MANY OF HIS FIGURES MEANS SAVED AND INNOCENCE AND A SAVING. CARRY INTO AN ANCIEN TRIBE AND MYTH MOMENTUM; GO THROUGH LIFE FULL OF RESPECT. THE MEN ATTEMPT AT HUMOR FARCE ONE JUSTIFIED. WHO BEING GALICIAN OR LOVING GALICIA RETURNS AT DRAWINGS CASTELAO, IS AWARE THAT IS FREE FROM VULGARITY AND FASEHOOD, RETURNED TO A RELIGIOUS AND HUMAN SENSE OF THINGS. (Ramón Otero Pedrayo dixit).
