PROJECT SITE :: SAN DIEGO, CA DESIGN PROPOSAL :: SOCIAL HOUSING COMPLEX TEN ALTERNATING UNITS THAT CREATE VOIDS USED AS PATIO SPACES. MAXIMIZING SMALL SPACE FOR FUNCTIONS AND SPACES OF A HOUSE.

ZAPOPAN CENTRO


ZAPOPAN CENTRO IS A HOUSING COMPLEX WITH A PUBLIC MERCADO. THE UNITS WERE ARRANGED IN AN ALTERNATING SEQUENCE TO ALLOW FOR FUTURE EXPANSION DEPENDING ON THE RESIDENTS. THE FACADE SYSTEM IS USED FOR CONTROLLED SHADING FOR THE INTERIOR OF THE UNITS AND CONTROLLED WINDS COMING FROM THE MOUNTAINS IN THE NORTH. CIRCULATION THROUGHOUT IS MAINLY IN THE CORE OF THE TOWERS BY ELEVATOR AND STAIRS.

THIS DESIGN ENTRY WAS CHOSEN TO BE DISPLAYED AT THE 2013 NEWPORT BEACH FILM FESTIVAL. THROUGH LASER CUT STUDY MODELS OF LIGHT THROUGH PLASTIC MATERIAL, WE HAVE CNC-ED PLASTIC MATERIAL AND PLYWOOD TO COMPLETE THIS INSTALLATION.
