Instructor: Dan Adams

Density

There is a larger concentration of buildings on the highlands versus the lowlands.

Building Orientation

Buildings located on the highlands are oriented outwards while on the lowlands they are orientated internally.

Block Fabric

There is an order to the blocks on the highlands while the lowlands are more open.

| 05 |

Taxonomy & Urban Framework

Highland

•Barriers that block views and that create a spacial boundary to the site.

Highland

•Buildings located around the perimeter are broken up by proposed streets. Heights vary allowing for views 1 Low building heights that allow views

to Chelsea Creek Medium building heights that allow views to Constitution Beach 3 Tall building heights that allow views to Boston

2

•Pedestrian pathways connecting the “towers” to the perimeter buildings. This pathway is raised allowing for more light into the lowland. •Towers that touch the lowland level while being predominantly on the highland level. •Proposed streets to break up the site and in order to get to the parking for the towers. The streets cut through the towers, dividing them between lobby and parking spaces on the ground level

Lowland

•The part of the lowland level that touches down. •Earth mound under the tower’s parking.

Lowland

•Shorter and groomed grass, allowing

for varies activities and outings. •Tall grass marshland.
