SPRING 2017 backcasting by mariah tomasetti
OUT OF THE BOUDOIR A shift to all things bohemian and romantic will appear in stores and on the streets for Spring/Summer 2017. Loungewear will not only find its place in the bedroom, but the sidewalks as well. A return to self-expression will be visible with the eclectic mix of patterns, fabrics and styling while a non-conformist identity enhances the disregard for gender association in terms of dressing

ANALYSIS & CONCLUSION How well a retailer matched the forecast compared to another retailer It was apparent that each retailer interpreted this trend in their own way based off of their customers and brand image. In my opinion, Gucci did very well in interpreting the “pajama chic” trend while Anthropologie’s take on everyday casual wear would translate well over a broad audience. Francesca’s did align with this trend the least, and their merchandise appeared trendier and more age specific. I do believe high end brands such as Gucci in this case match trends more accurately. They are brand leaders and other stores tend to pull inspiration from them. Their team has a greater standard to uphold being so well recognized.
