What is HIV? Is a virus called Human Immunodeficiency Virus that infect cells of the immune system. What is AIDS? Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome is the disease produced by the HIV.
According the WHO (World Health Organization) studies, about 35.3 million people suffer HIV at the end of 2012. That year, 2.3 million people became newly infected, and 1.6 million died because they had AIDS. The 5 countries in the world with the highest number of people that are infected with AIDS are South Africa with 5,600,000 people, Nigeria with 3,300,000 people, India with 2,400,000, Kenya with 1,500,000 and Mozambique with 1,400,000. You can avoid AIDS/HIV having sex with condom and not sharing needles or drug works. AIDS/HIV isn’t spread by air or water, insects, saliva tears or sweets, casual contacts like shaking hands or sharing dishes and close-mouth or “social” kissing. More than 35 million of people around the world have HIV, but only 34% of those eligible for life-saving treatment receive it. We can beat this disease, but only if we recommit to the fight today. Today, there are more methods for avoid HIV/AIDS, but there isn’t a vaccine for it.
