PAST SIMPLE (PASADO SIMPLE) Se usa el pasado simple para referirse a algo que sucedió en el pasado.

Example:

I lived in Paris for 1 year. Viví en Paris durante un año

Verbos regulares En el caso de los verbos regulares, el pasado simple se forma tomando el propio verbo y agregando "ed ed", d" si termina en vocal. Si termina en ed o "d "y y", se cambia por "ied ied". ied

EXAMPLES: We played tennis for two hours. Jugamos tenis por dos horas. She arrived late. late. Llegó tarde. You studied a lot. Estudiaste mucho.

- Reglas ortográficas La regla básica para el pasado simple es añadir la terminación –ED a la raíz del verbo. Sin embargo algunos verbos necesitan cambios.

Verbos irregulares Los verbos irregulares tienen su propia forma del pasado simple y la única manera de aprenderlos es memorizarlos. Normalmente son los que aparecen en la segunda columna de los listados de verbos irregulares en los diccionarios de inglés. Por ejemplo el pasado del verbo to go (ir) es "went went". went El pasado de to see (ver) es "saw saw". saw Siempre es igual para todas las personas. We went to London in 1994. Fuimos a Londres es 1994. We saw the doubledouble-decker buses. Vimos los autobuses de dos pisos.

USES OF THE PAST SIMPLE El pasado simple se usa para: 1. Describir una acción que ocurrió en un momento definido del pasado.

- The boys played basketball yesterday. 2. Para contar una sucesión de hechos o acciones que ocurrieron una tras otra.

- She ran down the street but there was no one around. She called for help and then she saw the red car again.
