Health Tourism Destination Development Health and medical tourism is not just a business opportunity for a group of clinics and hospitals. Health tourism is a destination opportunity for economic and capacity development. It enables a wide range of small and medium enterprises into a local or regional value chain economic and service cluster that includes transportation companies, tour operators, hospitals, physicians, hotels and restaurants, and so much more. At Mercury Advisory Group our experts have worked on six continents and more than 100 countries. As a result of those experiences, we’ve distilled the health tourism destination development process into six distinct steps that every health tourism destination must work through regardless of the business model they ultimately select:

Our Exclusive, Step-by-Step Health Tourism Destination Development Program Health Tourism Destination Development is distinctly different from individual provider/supplier health tourism readiness. Our team members are experienced healthcare and hospitality executives, managers and nurses. If a hospital needs assistance with medical tourism service line expansion, accreditation preparation or staff training and referral development for their individual business unit, we can help. Most experienced, professional healthcare business management consultants have some experience with service line expansion programming, marketing, and business development. The scope of work for Health Tourism Destination Development is far more involved and comprehensive. Health Tourism Destination Development is generally undertaken by a multi-disciplinary task force that includes representatives and decision-makers from government agencies involved in economic development, foreign trade and investment, visa and immigration, infrastructure, ICT, post-secondary and professional education, vocational training, airport authorities, government tourism offices, hotel associations, hospital associations, medical societies, urban and regional planning, banking and foreign currency exchange, and to a lesser extent the public health agency. The task force works with individual healthcare and hospitality

healthcare facilities. We work closely with your cluster partners and administrators, medical group managers, legal advisers, web programmers, and your marketing and business development specialists to help you meet and exceed your stated goals.
Health Tourism Destination Coaching Program Our Health Tourism Destination Coaching program is designed for government agencies, health facilities, physicians and other stakeholders who want to pursue their own destination development independently and want an experienced adviser or sounding board. We help developers who have already begun – or plan to begin — the health tourism destination development process on their own and need a little additional guidance. Maria’s Health Tourism Destination Coaching option makes it easy for you to purchase blocks of time for phone coaching from a health tourism expert to use as you need it.
Are you Already a Health Tourism Destination? You may have paid other consultants hundreds of thousands of dollars over the term of your contract… • • • •
Are you disillusioned with promises not kept by your current consultants? Would you like immediate access to a remediation expert that can take what you have already done and improve on it? Do you feel you are paying too much money and receiving too little value…for services that neither you nor your customers benefit? Have you been lured into spending money and time on conference stands and visibility but find the infrastructure to effectively run the business is missing?
In addition to our core business, developing health tourism destinations and regional cluster formation, we also provide ongoing support services for destinations and regional clusters previously developed by other consulting firms. These services include organizational development, operational infrastructure, governance, quality and safety criteria, referral relationship development, day-to-day management, brand standards enforcement, ongoing operations management, accreditation, training and marketing support.
