SUSPENSION HOUSE

2019 - 2021 Napa Valley California Built -Fougeron ArchitectureArchitectural designer/Construction Documents /Construction Administration The most important consideration for this house was to deepen it’s connection with nature. By introducing a steel frame structure under the original floors and anchoring the home between the two hills on the sides, the original supporting columns can be removed from the creek, allowing the back yard waterfall’s continuity. Transparent materials and multiple decks are now the main connection between land, water and home, a very important feature for the client. The two lower floors stay withing the confines of the original building, while the third floor addition is a transparent volume facing east. Sleek lines and a detail oriented design, paired with self expressive materials make this minimalist house a beacon immersed in nature. ARCHITECTURE PORTFOLIO

2020 - 2021 San Francisco California In Progress -Fougeron ArchitectureArchitectural designer/Construction Documents To create a modern layout and take advantage of the beautiful views of the bay, this house will undergo a renovation that comprises an added rear extension and a reorganization of the building’s vertical circulation. The house will be lifted five feet to restore the facade to it’s original design and recover the bay window that is currently obscured by the garage. By removing walls and taking advantage of the site’s slope—the program breaks into two terraces—the kitchen, dining and living area are now integrated and oriented towards the back of the house. For the upper level a service corridor organizes baths, closets and laundry while the rooms face front and back facades. The roof is designed as a continuous sculptural folding element that is reflected in the interior. ARCHITECTURE PORTFOLIO

LEARNING ISLAND
LEARNING ISLAND

2019 Community Forge | 1256 Franklin Ave Wilkinsburg, PA Phase 1 Built ULI Pittsburgh - 2019 Placemaking Award Winner -Urban Collaboratory Studio CMUDesign/Phase 1 Planning and Scheduling The resulting urban design framework proposes an archipelago of islands programmed for diverse activities to be implemented incrementally over time. Aiming at setting in motion a transformation, in the last few weeks of the semester, the studio together with volunteers realized the first island: the Learning Island is an educational landscape with colorful games and sports fields as well as the first two of four benches. Community involvement was a key part of this process, manifesting itself in a ‘Community Volunteer Day’ at Community Forge, where a large group of residents and patrons spent an afternoon painting the pattern onto the site, and starting to engage with the design in their own creative ways. “My job is very stressful, so I’d like a calm place to read. The girls like making things like arts and crafts. They also ejoy the chess program a lot” - Marlena Livsey
“There are fun ways to exercise properly without a gym. Fun things to attract kids to exercise. We can have outdoor fitness community events, so that people can stay outdoor to work out and having to go through all the logistics of paying by using the gym.” - Donald Robinson
“Now parents don’t have to seat in their cars to watch their kids play. I can even have lunch here on a nice sunny day wile the kids play in the area.” - Michael Johnson
“It is great to have a shaded area lke this in the outdoor that can seat around ten people as it is ideal for family gatherings. We don’t have a lot of places like this in Wilkinsburg” - Ashely Comans
“The Sunfest music festival hosted in Community Forge is very sucessful and many people came to enjoy music together,” - Jordan Howard
“These benches are fun for kids to practice their pogo techniques and allow pogo-ers to do a lot of different type of tricks on them.” - Will Weiner
“The second closest planet orbiting our Sun is Venus. Maybe we can see it using the telescope on our roof tonight if the sky is clear.” - Patrick Cooper
“I like the outside area because I play outside with my friends. We would play hide and seek, tag, football, and basketball.” - Charles Johnson

2019 Renovo, PA Competition -The 118th John Stewardson Memorial CompetitionConcept design / Project design The Novo‐Library is as physical space for shared experiences. It is a socio-cultural detonator: the building enables communities to come together, teach and learn. The structure supports the communal exercise of making, teaching and learning. It guides the joint effort of communities to educate, incubate and showcase. Novo-Library is a core concrete structure surrounded by wooden buildings facing the Susquehanna river and mountains. Wooden buildings carry the main architectural program while the concrete core connects them and creates gathering spaces where community interaction flourishes. Novo-Library stands as a link to past industrious effort and a guide for future generations. ARCHITECTURE PORTFOLIO

AZCONA APARTMENT
18
2016 Sanchez Azcona 1642/Coyoacan Mexico City Built -OPA-Oficina de Practica ArquitectónicaProject manager/Design/Construction Documents /Construction Supervision This apartment was conceived as a warm yet modern home for a young couple. A simple but attractive palette of materials defined each space and gave it a unique identity. Wood, stone, touches of color and minimal arrangements were key for the remodeling of this 1970’s two stories apartment located in the south of Mexico City. The kitchen became one of the central spaces, hence the pop of color and pattern in the flooring which paired perfectly with the warm wood floor. Another interesting space is the terrace which has a spectacular view from the 12th floor of the building. Black volcanic stone paired with greenery in a superzied planter give this apartment a place perfect to relax or to held a nice party. ARCHITECTURE PORTFOLIO

TULPETLAC PLAZA
22
2016 Santa Maria Tulpetlac State of Mexico Built -OPA-Oficina de Practica ArquitectónicaProject manager/Design/Construction Documents The plaza is central to daily life in Tulpetlac—people relax, pray, eat and fall in love every day. Lack of maintenance, however, had degraded most of its usefulness. It is no surprise that the people of Tulpetlac asked the local government for a robust project that provides a place for ceremony and celebration. Further, the new plaza preserves the elements of a traditional Mexican plaza: a kiosk, fountains, gardens and open spaces. But it also gives them a contemporary approach. The plaza will have flexible spaces to attract pedestrians and encourage a 24/7 use. It will also activate the surroundings and return life to the local streets. We want to give Tulpetlac’s inhabitants a place that inspires and to which they can relate to. ARCHITECTURE PORTFOLIO

2016 Mazatlan 138/Condesa Mexico City Built -OPA-Oficina de Practica ArquitectónicaProject manager/Furniture design/Construction Documents /Construction Supervision Young men looking to indulge in a barber shop are more common than ever. In response, retro and baroque barber shops have proliferated in the last years in Mexico City. Scalper, however, has a different proposal: uphold the balance of simplicity and tradition. Located in a privileged corner in La Condesa—a stylish neighborhood in Mexico City, Scalper combines the classical elements of a barber shop such as white tiles and barber chairs with details like bold lights and thin metallic furniture.

2015-2016 Colima 90/Miguel Hidalgo Mexico City Built -Own ProjectProject design/Construction Supervision & Management Volcanic rocks and pines, a steep mountainside, and impressive views—the site plays a crucial role in Casa Colima composition. The bedrock and trees propose a monochromatic palette interrupted by wood. The terrain is ideal for half levels, which in turn suggest the use of open stairs. The view asks for large windows and a rooftop terrace. A single family house that breaks into different terraces which later reflect in the upper floors. A concrete volume accentuated with texture and color outstands from the rest of the facade to create a juxtaposition of elements.

2018 Los Angeles, CA Summer Internship -Hodgetts + FungDesign Intern This past summer I worked for 3 months at hplusf a design studio in Los Angeles led by Craig Hodgetts and Ming Fung. The studio has been in charge of mayor projects such as the Hollywood Bowl, the renovation to the Egyptian Theatre, the temporary UCLA Towell Library and most recently the renovation of the Frost Auditorium in Culver City to mention some. While I was there I had the chance to be part of several projects such as the production of request for proposals, archive and re-drawing of old projects in preparation for a book publication and a market analysis for a project in San Jose. In preparation for the publication of the book “Transformations” I drew and retraced some of the Egyptian Theater, Hollywood Bowl and Frost Auditorium original plans. ARCHITECTURE PORTFOLIO

Concept Design / Sewing / Fabrication
Inspired by the process of beautification using minimal elements such as powder and pigment, our collection aims to create looks that shine in day and night. Taking advantage of resin, a material known for its intensity and delicateness, we look to explore its incorporation with textiles to create wearables that reflect a hard softness and transform in emphasis from day to night. During the day, initial thoughts are formed about the garment, its potential, and impact as it is first seen. However, it is when darkness falls that one can truly see and appreciate the real nature of the garment, and what was once hidden can speak freely. Different parts of the body are colored and covered, and the transition from light to dark highlights distinct parts of the garment that may not initially be apparent. ARCHITECTURE PORTFOLIO
