College Placement
The College Placement Office at Marianapolis seeks to provide students with the advice, support, and information necessary to clarify the college process. The College Placement Office works individually with each student and their family to help them find the universities that are best matched to their needs, personal desires, and academic merits. Using Naviance, a college search and administration program, students are able to better understand their aptitudes, explore possible careers, examine colleges on-line, and develop a list of schools to which they will apply.
FRESHMAN YEAR • Develop positive study habits, and participate in sports, extracurriculars, and community service work. • Take the PSAT 8/9 test. • Work on continuing to improve writing skills.
JUNIOR YEAR • Take the SAT or ACT during the spring. International students have the opportunity to take the TOEFL. • Visit colleges, attend the College Fair, and start to craft your list of colleges on Naviance. • Work on your college essay and resume while asking teachers for recommendation letters.
SENIOR YEAR SOPHOMORE YEAR • Explore careers and college majors through Naviance. • Think about taking courses that will allow to you explore career interests and pursue possible college credit. • Take the PSAT NMSQT.
• Take the SAT or ACT again in the fall. • Complete all of your applications and decide if they will be Early Decision, Early-Action, or Regular Decision. • Formally decide which offer of enrollment you will accept! You will usually need to do this by May 1.
