ur mission is to educate students in the Catholic tradition of academic excellence, with a commitment to an active faith in God and a dedication to building character with content, compassion, and integrity.
Welcome! Inclusive of all faiths, our community believes that spirituality is a foundation for compassionate, generous individuals. Marianapolis fosters among its students respect for others, appreciation of diversity, and service to all. Values-based education provides relevant, meaningful lessons that impact our students in and out of the classroom. We contemplate global issues with a moral context while weighing fairness and values alongside traditional academic lessons. Here, young women and men extend themselves spiritually and intellectually throughout their daily lives. At Marianapolis, students grow into mature, self-directed adults with vision and purpose.
The Global Classroom Learning happens everywhere
With a curricular focus on experiential education, the school empowers its students to make the world their classroom. Students are exposed to school-sponsored regional travel as early as freshman year.
Experiential Learning Trips Offered on weekends throughout the year, these day trips impart new skills and perspectives. Every student goes on EL trips during their MPrep career; among many things, they try: • Cranberry bogging • Glass blowing • Dog sledding • Anti-gravity yoga • Ice climbing • Paddle boarding
L.E.A.P. Week

The Tech Frontier A focus on educational innovation
As global technology evolves at an unprecedented speed, Marianapolis provides its students tools and strategies to approach 21st Century challenges. Marianapolis places technology in the hands of every student, in every class. They learn best practices for appropriate use of technology in academia, as well as investigate the latest programs, resources, and apps to enhance learning. The entire community is linked by an online portal on the Marianapolis website. Everything - homework, assessment calendars, athletic schedules, rehearsal times - is on the portal. Students practice valuable time management skills as they balance their curricular and extracurricular opportunities. The commitment to staying at the forefront of educational technology doesn’t stop there. In addition to the traditional classroom environment, the school has built a library of online courses for its students. In true preparation for college, each student takes at least one online class before graduation. Some online courses, like SAT Prep or Mastering the College Essay, are designed to supplement the standard curriculum with skill-specific instruction necessary for college placement. Others, like The American Civil War, allow students with a particular passion to maximize immersion in their discipline of choice. Clubs and organizations at Marianapolis also allow students to explore engineering, coding, device repair, and more. Students in the Robotics Club (right) build machines to compete throughout the school year against peer schools. The Tech Crew, on the other hand, stays on-site to support the repair of software or devices for faculty and students alike.
Leadership A commitment to growth
In preparation for college and life beyond, Marianapolis provides ample opportunities for students to assume the responsibilities of leadership. Among others, leadership roles include: • Class Officers support the Marianapolis student body as a whole. • S.L.A.M. assists international students integrating into American culture through purposeful involvement in campus life. • Camp Interns grow as leaders by mentoring children in elementary and middle school. • Captain’s Council provides feedback to the Athletic Department, bridges the gap between players and coaches, plans pep rallies, and creates positive buzz around athletic events.
Service
A tradition of selflessness At Marianapolis, service is a component of our learning experience. Students find opportunities to impact their local and global communities annually. Among others, service traditions include: • Homelessness Awareness Night • Turkey Dip for Muscular Dystrophy • Holiday Food Drive • Disaster Relief Outreach The school fosters an appreciation for service through events like Residential Service Sunday and Rake Day, traditions that help students give back to the MPrep community. Additionally, Marianapolis integrates service-based programming into the experiential learning curriculum. Recent outreach has touched communities in Massachusetts, Maine, and West Virginia, as well as supported local organizations serving children and animals.
Extracurricular Activities Practice your passion
The Marianapolis education continues on athletic fields, across dance floors, and behind camera lenses. Each student must participate in extracurricular activities every year. With over a dozen varsity options to choose from, the elite, competitive athlete is in good company here. Students can learn a competitive sport for the first time, too, accessing JV and IIIs level options. And for some of our analytical thinkers, the Math Team is the ideal venue for competition. Many students use extracurricular activities to stay healthy - mind and body. Whether they take center stage in a dramatic production, or find spiritual balance through yoga, students grow in countless ways outside the classroom.
The Art of Expression Master technique, embrace inspiration
At Marianapolis, students can investigate, create, and appreciate art. Here, teachers encourage individual creative expression, practice of specific techniques, communication with the public through exhibitions and performances, and appreciation of various forms. Courses provide recognition of the role of art in history and in contemporary culture. Understanding the relationship between creativity and innovation, the school equips students to approach art through multiple mediums. Students may choose from course offerings in art history, music, theater, dance, and visual art. Students for whom art is a passion may pursue portfolio-based Advanced Studio Art or Independent Study.
The Marianapolis Family A lifetime of relationships; a world of connections
Marianapolis proudly considers brothers, sisters, parents, grandparents, and teachers among its extended family. Like the Bodreaus (Mike ’10, Jillian ’14, Madison ’17 above), many families find Marianapolis to be the ideal school for each of their children. Some graduates, like Mike, feel a deep connection that calls them back to serve on the Marianapolis faculty. No matter how new or familiar to Marianapolis a student is, the genuine warmth and welcome of the community makes it feel like home. Knowing that home may be thousands of miles away for some, the Marianapolis Family Network unites boarding students with day families. Students identify a peer with whom they wish to develop a MFN relationship. Throughout the year, they enjoy special activities like bowling, movie nights, and ice cream socials together.
Universal Language A modern perspective on advanced communications
Just as non-native English speakers rely upon American students for language practice and cultural education, so, too, do local students benefit from Marianapolis’ global community. Marianapolis inducts students into the National Honors Society, the Chinese Honors Society, and the Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica each year. Regardless of their point of origin, every Marianapolis student has the opportunity to receive honors as a scholar of a non-native language. At Marianapolis, students agree to live and study by a Common Language Policy. The school hosts a diverse global community representing many different languages and perspectives. Only by practicing English language use in all areas of community life can a student achieve maximum language proficiency. A common language allows for spirited discourse in and out of the classroom.
Community Life All about the Knight life
Every weekend includes trips to area attractions: professional sporting events, museums, malls, theaters, and more. There is plenty to do right on campus, too. One dorm might be baking while another is hosting a House Party; inevitably, a pickup game is starting on one of our athletic fields. Faculty supervise activities, but our students propose them. USA soccer game? Let’s go. Movie night? Absolutely. Paintball? You’re on! Students host memorable events, like the Knight of Jazz and the Trash Fashion Show. Some unforgettable Marianapolis traditions, like the Halloween costume parade, are built right into the daily schedule! Others integrate the community’s commitment to service, like Breaking the Code to raise awareness and support for cancer research.
Your House Away From Home All the resources of campus with the closeness of family Marianapolis integrates the comfort of home-style living into the structure of a boarding school schedule. The focus of 7:30-9:30 p.m. study hall is often followed with a game of foosball in the common room or playing fetch with a house parent’s puppy. Residential programming such as house and hall retreats, House Cup Challenges, and family-style dinners help foster pride and establish a collective identity among residential peer groups.
The Faculty
Advocates in the classroom, on the sports fields, and beyond Teaching at Marianapolis is a commitment to an entire community of students. You might see Ms. Sundby in D period photography class, on the court for basketball practice, or in the dorm at study hall. Mr. Poirot may be giving a quiz in English or bringing his wife and grandkids to cheer on your softball game. Each instructor gets to know students in and out of the classroom, aligning responsibility with relationships for maximum student growth.
