Senior Habitational Units. Graduating Project
First Prize in the Draft Project Competition: Huelva Apunta (Urbanism). “ More than just green”

Senior Habitational Units. Graduating Project (Distinction) The plot in wich the project is taking place is inhabited by solitude. The land that one day was reinforced by the vitality of the people who went around it, is today just a trace of the past. The project wants to create a set of strategies to organize the plot taking the units as the primary cells. By a new strategy, I want to beak the old idea of senior residence as a place to rest when you loose your autonomy. I tried to rescue a place in the middle of the city that is dealing with the same problem that our seniors: solitude. This process will respect archeological preexistences of the old poterry and historical traces of the demolished quarter.

“More than just green First Prize in the Draft Project Competition: Huelva Apunta (Urbanism). An opportunity of relating the historical trace of the city and the main residencial enlargement appeared when the train rails became obsolete. At the same time, this connection shoud not be just an addition of the city, what we proposed was a lineal green extension that works as a hinge between the new and the old city. But this vegetal extension where the old rails were located should not be just a park, it will work as an infrastructure with social equipment and tertiary uses.

Health Center in AvenueAlcalde Manuel del Valle (Pino Montano, Seville) Fifth Year Proyects (2013/14) The project tries to focus on the society around the health center. This way, further the construction of a building with a sanitary use, the building will take care of the people taking part in the process by creating an urban sequence. Two suspended “boxes create covered spaces that receive the pedestrian into the main element of the square: the tree. The project is materialised in a binuclear building, with the purpuse of giving a separated space to those consulting rooms where the patient needs a major intimacy such as the psicological rooms or the rehabilitation rooms. Whereas in the other cube we will have the noisy entrance of the adults and the pediatry.

Philosophers’ Residence near Walden Lake Fifth Year Proyects (2013/14) The main concept in this project is the placement in the landscape throught the perfection of geometry. A place to contemplate and meditate at the same time. Using similar strategies to Land Art works, the project creates cyclic itineraries though wich different scenarios appear: rooms, library, canteen,... I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. Enlargement of the Herbert. F. Johnson Art Museum in Cornell Unversity Fifth Year Proyects (2013/14) The architect Leoh Ming Pei designed this Art Museum in Cornel University as a hole itself, as a construction that doesn’t want to be built. That is why it is so difficoult to make an enlargement in a building that is just trying to be a landscapes collector. An addition would utterly change the building. That is why the project was born with the premise of respecting the original conception of Pei’s project, creating a platform below wich the enlargement occurs and where the new exhibition rooms take place. This one is based in new ideas such as a careful use of both natural and artificial light and visual relations between different levels.
