The Vocational Carpentry College in Zvolen focuses on teaching subjects relating to production and design of wooden products. The requirements for finishing the college are to master the theory of wooden materials, their characteristics and uses. To be able to create and design a functional product. To illustrate it graphically in 2D and 3D. To learn and understand the production processes and the tools needed for it. And to physically create the full-sized product (the product in 1:1 ratio), which was done at the carpentry workshops available at the college. HIGH SCHOOOL 2015/ Maturita projekt

WOOMI I designed and bulit the chair for my maturita project in the last year of the college. For this work, I recieved The Young Creator 2015 Award in the category of wood-processing production. The foldable wooden chair called WOOMI is made of solid oak and is finished with a layer of transparent varnish. The chair is aimed for use in high-end mobile coffee sellers that prefer high-quality natural materials. The aim of the work was to experiment with different techniques of shaping and joining of wooden parts. This can be seen in some of the interesting details of the product such as specialised techniques used to join of front legs with the back rest. This joint is secured with two inbuilt pegs. Another interesting detail is the lock for the front legs positioned under the seat. After unlocking it, the legs can be taken out of the seat and the chair can be folded. A very nice component of the chair is the seat rest, which is made up of multiple layers of timber sheets laid into a pre-made mold of extruded polysterene and joined together with expanded glue.

Revitalisation of college courtyard at FA VUT BRNO This plan is showing the inner area enclosed by a housing estate from one side (north-east) and the Faculty of Architecture from the other (south-west). This area is co-owned by the faculty and people and businesses based in the surrounding buildings. There is a disused building with a slanted roof in the middle of the courtyard. The aim of this work is to recreate the old building and the courtyard spaces so they are attractive for both students of the faculty and the inhabitats of the surrounding buildings. The old building was given a new function of a co-working centre with various activities that will help students with creation of new projects. Another part of this work is designing the extention of the student club Archa which will be placed on top of the existing building and will have a coffee shop. The remainder of the courtyard will be changed into a garden where people can rest and unwind.

Entry to the building is from the south (from the back entrance to the building A). The entrance is made up of large fully-glazed doors leading to a hall. The hall is a room which joins the working spaces and the core (toilets and showers). Entry into the showers is from the changing rooms, which lead to the biggest carpentry room. Here, the machinery for processing and shaping wood is placed (skracovačka, formátovačka, hrúbkovačka, hoblovačka, brúska, fréza, pásová píla, small machines and tools). A separate room at the back of the building which houses the CNC machine. The carpentry room also includes space for storing materials.

There is a coffee shop in the south-eastern part of the faculty’s campus. In the summer months, the area of the coffee shop can be expanded into a terrace by sliding away the windows, which are in the northern part of the building. The coffee shop is in 1.NP it is joined to the already-existing underground building (Archa) where the toilets were reconstructed and joined to the coffee shop. There are further communal spaces inside Archa that can be used by students at the same time as the coffee shop.

ARTÉKA Arteka is a building with specific requirements for ensuring highly hygienic spaces where artistic works can be studied, conserved and restored. At the same time, the building includes public spaces for presentations, recreational areas and living spaces for employees of Arteka. This is why the building in divided into two aspects – one is transparent, public and accesible and the other is absorbed, mysterious and secured.

These two aspects differ from each other in terms of their character. They have the same number of visible floors however the secured spaces of Arteka extend underground where the collections of artistic works are housed. On top of the collection spaces, Arteka – the working spaces expanding over two floors – are placed (machinery and tools are in podlad). Above Arteka, there are laboratories and smaller workshops. From this floor, it is possible to cross to the public part of the building. The mezzanine of the public part of the building allows access to vehicles delivering large artistic works to Arteka. There is an exhibition room on the first floor. Above this, there is a public area that opens up to the exterior of the building. On the top floor, there are offices and flats. The rooftop is also open accessible to the public and can be used for viewing Olomouc city from above. All around the public spaces, there is a spiral staircase which also acts as a gallery. A perforated metal façade hangs off the staircase. The presentation and feel of this space is in contrast with the secured area of the building where the façade is created from concrete with no windows. This is to avoid any damage from light radiation to the artistic works.

BRNO TRIANGLE This project focused on the problematics of a brownfield site in southern Brno. The graph shows that the southern part of Brno has half the number of inhabitants and public transport links when compared to the north. Brno is currently stagnating in its urban and architectural development due to its old-fashioned urbanistic plan. There are currently number of proposals and concepts that show what southern Brno could look like a few years into the future, especially the brownfield area between train lines. This unused brownfield site is a few hectares big and is encircled by a river and train lines from all sides. These access barriers cause disinterest of people in this inner part of the “triangle“. In our urbanistic strategy, we decided to leave this triangle to the forces of nature. This area includes alluvial forest as well as many other biodiverse habitats. This successional park would add to other parks in the city such as Spilberg and Luzanky. There is a big potential for finding new parcels for residential buildings in the disorderly and chaotic structure of city parts around the triangle. We compared the order of this structure with other functional parts of the city.

The orderly structure of the city part Masaryk quarters. The whole area is composed of multi-generational family houses and mansions. By using the closest points analysis, we were able to join the closest family houses in a way that formed a web, showing us the types of houses in different streets. .

The current state of this urbanistic web in southern Brno seems chaotic and disjointed.

The city part Brno Middle. In this schematic, squares and block-type buildings are visible in the city centre.

PRORTFOLIO/2019 MARIANNA KUBOVÁ TRAFFIC SITUATION SOUTHERN BRNO – PROPOSAL 1. New placemement of the main station at a more strategic site where all main traffic lines meet (national and international train lines, local public transport lines and main car roads). The faster the transportation type, the lower the floor it will be placed on. 2. From the bus station to the train station within a few minutes via a speed tram. 3. Original main station serves as a stop for regional trains and trams. 4. The route of tram number 12 is extended and joined onto disused train lines and returns back to the city. 5. The route of tram number 10 is also extended and is led via existing train lines around the business centre with a turning point at the stop by the hyperloop. 6. At this spot, the speed tram traffic merges with Brno’s diameter 7. Hyperloop station. .

A heatmap of density of public transport lines. The current situation shows that it is very hard to pass the barriers of train lines …

This proposal would ensure access and reach of public transport links to greater area within Brno as well as all the way towards the motorway.

HOUSING+ARCHA The exit from the VMO road and the flood area of the Svitava River surround and threaten new perspective spots in the brownfield area of Stará Motorárna in Husovice. These two heavy line elements transfer dangerous mass at the time of “flooding”. How to solve these problems and create fully used public spaces around them? Curve the street front, changing the flood wall way and creating large-capacity parking lots. This creates sound-proofed dynamic spaces without park stall on the ground. Spaces for recreation between the PPO and the river + individual objects that have a base in the PP wall with added usable functions. Flood protection will be unnoticed, used for recreation and housing, and at the same time protect if is necessary.

PORTFOLIO/2019 MARIANNA KUBOVÁ The project presents an alternative design of an office building in the area of a textile factory in Brno called Vlněna, where is growing a new administrative complex "Vlněn office park" under the auspices of CTP. On the same plot, CTP is currently preparing one of the first buildings in Brno completely by the BIM (Building Information Management) method. At the same time, the location of the industrial complex proved to be very valuable archeologically. Also, the basics and the remains of the walls of the "Moravian Manchester" period, dating back to 150 BC, when there was a Celtic oppidum in the places of Vlna. At first glance, there is a striking difference in the processes of past and present building: excavations, which in individual layers document more than two thousand years of construction history, they are in a short moment mapped, removed and replaced with a clean concrete slab surface. The concept of “tabula rasa” is in line with the commercial logic and efficiency of the current way of building office complex. It also seems BIM, as a new way of organizing design work and construction Management follows this logic and is particularly effective in planning more or less standardized office buildings, where the emphasis is on cost-effectiveness, controllability, and reliability of the entire planning and construction process. standardized, industrially manufactured building elements are simple to implement in BIM libraries and software apply them where possible to 'standardized' plots. In our project, we try to exploit the potential of BIM while not succumbing to the corporate logic of the contemporary building. We create a hybrid strategy where the ability of BIM software to "parameterize" We use it not only for the definition of libraries and building blocks but for parameterization concrete columns. We use BIM to convert between history and present, which transcribes into the building structure of our design.

concrete feet from the last phase of the textile factory, which stood here until the year 2016 when it was demolished. The older exposed structure dates back to the 18th century, when here, in the eastern part of the suburban district of "Nahon", a textile manufactory of Josef Bergmann was established. Since that the objects are not basement and the layers are stacked on each other, they are clearly legible and the level of the terrain is gradually increasing. The different layers in our design reflect two construction systems based on the existing grid concrete feet and newly formed concrete foundations poured into archaeological wells and finding jam. Dimensions of excavated pits, new foundations, and reinforced concrete the columns convey information about archaeological findings across the building. The structure grows above the ruins of the walls of the Bergmann boiler room and preserves them in a transferred sense in the climatically open floor of the building. The remains of the walls are preserved using thin concrete layers. The subsoil is transcribed and shaped to form the entire proposed office building. Different construction units herald the contents of the floors.

PROPOSAL The starting point for us was excavations located on the plot I, which we work with contradiction to the principle of tabula rasa, which seems ideal for time and money as much as possible the most efficient design in BIM. Superstudio is an idea-driven competition for university students focusing on current themes and problematics in our cities and society, from the perspective of architecture and urbanism. The character of this competition is set with time limitations and freedom of creativity with minimal but strict limits. The competitors have exactly 24 hours for completing the given task. Superstudio encourages critical thinking, inter-disciplinary collaboration and the ability to spontaneously form and defend your thinking processes. The competition happens in all cities with universities teaching architecture within Slovak and Czech Republics. Each year, it culminates in the final round open to the public where the best teams from Prague, Bratislava, Brno, Kosice, Ostrava and Liberec showcase their projects in front of live audiences and judges. The task is produced in collaboration with international specialists in the field and the judging panel is formed by leading Czecho-Slovak architects, professors and lecturers, theoreticians and other important figures.
