Baby Animals When it is spring many animals have their babies.

Nesting Birds As it stays light for longer in spring, birds know it is time to find a mate. Then either one or both birds will make a nest from things that they find like dried grass, twigs, animal hair and moss.

LAYING EGGS

NESTING BIRDS

The number of eggs birds lay vary from bird to bird. A Blue Tit for example can lay between 7 and 13 eggs. Once all the eggs are laid she will sit on her eggs for about two weeks. This is known as incubation.

After the incubation period the chicks, who are blind at first, are fed by their parents until they are grown up enough to be able to look after themselves.

Learn to draw a Chick Learn to draw this cute little chick with our step by step drawing tutorial. Once you can draw one, you'll want to end up drawing lots more!

Day = Night From 20 March onwards the daylight gets longer and longer each day until summer, when you will notice that it is still light at bedtime.

DAY = NIGHT

DAY = NIGHT

The equinox has the effect of making day and night occur equally, so that there are approximately 12 hours of night and 12 hours of day on the day of an equinox.

The equinox was documented even by ancient civilizations, and is still relevant to astronomers today who can use it predict the location of certain stars by knowing how close we are to equinox.

Eco Awareness Core Concept We can show that we are eco aware by practicing the three Rs of reduce, reuse, and recycle as well as being sensitive to the needs of the other living things that share the environment with us.

Winter Iarna Explore

• Students participate in a teacher-led discussion that encourages them to wonder about the things people can do to help clean up the environment. To complete the session, students work collaboratively offline and further explore the different ways they, as students, can help keep nature clean.

Explain • The Explain session mixes animation with real-life video clips to provide a clear and concise description the environment and ways people impact it. Students are encouraged to express their understanding in their own words as they participate in teacher-led discussions. To complete the session, students participate in an offline activity that allows them to demonstrate mastery of the content.
