THE 4 MOST COMMON PHILANTHROPY TRENDS Maribeth Jezek

How do you plan to use your wealth? Would you like to give it all away and help change the world for the better, or would you prefer that your money be used in an event-specific manner? The choice is up to you, but we’d recommend giving back if we had a say.

Philanthropy has become one of the most popular trends of recent years. There are so many different ways people can get involved with philanthropy and making a difference. We’ve compiled 4 of the most common philanthropic trends here:

1) FUNDRAISING Do you have a special event coming up? Is your organization looking to host an upcoming fundraiser or benefit dinner? Nowadays, people are becoming more and more creative with the types of events they plan. You can hold anything from simple coffee mornings to largescale concerts.

Even if you’re not planning on holding any big events soon, you can still run a simple fundraising campaign for your organization. You could sell homemade goods, host bake sales, or even ask people to donate their old unwanted items!

2) DONATING ITEMS The easiest way to help a charitable organization is probably by donating items. Any item will do! You could donate clothes that no longer fit, children’s toys, or even your old car! Charities use donated goods for all sorts of different purposes.

For example, if you’re donating food, it can be used as meals or as ingredients for food drives. Donating items is a great way to help people you don’t even know, and it’s completely free.

3) VOLUNTEERING Do you have a lot of free time on your hands? Why not use it to help others. People volunteer themselves differently. If you’re young, the best thing you could do is reach out and see any volunteering opportunities at local schools or community centers.

Even spending an hour a week tutoring children in your neighborhood could make a huge difference. If you’re looking to do something more out of the ordinary, there are plenty of organizations that would be happy to welcome international volunteers.

4) SOCIAL MEDIA Social media is one of the most popular ways for people to get involved with philanthropy. You can share your experiences online and encourage others to follow in your footsteps! It’s a great way to show support and help raise awareness about certain causes. Social media platforms also provide an easy platform for fundraising campaigns, volunteering opportunities, or any other type of philanthropy.
