STI College Ormoc performs STI College, Ormoc City – The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) conducted an earthquake and fire simulation in STI College Ormoc, last August 6, 2015, 9 o’clock in the morning. This event was organized by the Student Affairs Office (SAO) in collaboration with Energy Development Corporation (EDC). The drill and orientation aim to teach students, teachers and school personnel the right techniques when fire and earthquake emergencies happen. Before the highlight of the activity, the teachers were gathered at the lobby for the final briefing. Reminders and information were given by FO2 Albert G. Cabillo and FO2 Macario T. Candelasa, Jr., representatives from BFP , for everyone’s awareness of earthquake and fire. With these information, the entire STI community will be aware of what to do whenever these catastrophes occur. This briefing was relayed to the students by their mentors for their awareness & preparation too. He then conveyed instruction to the School Administrator, Ms. Maricel R. Ngo and school staff about strengthening the school's earthquake preparedness schemes. A fire road plan must be formulated so the rescuers will easily determine the roads they will be taking during an emergency situation. In addition, the victims will also be able to know where they could run for help.

During the shaking in case of earthquake, look for place with cover to protect head against falling debris. 10 minutes after the final briefing, the siren started and lasted for about 5 minutes. While the siren is ongoing, the entire STI community followed what was told and that is to perform “DUCK/COVER/HOLD”. They are asked to hide in a place with a cover like tables or arm of the chairs to protect them against falling debris in case the building collapses. When the siren stops, in an orderly manner, all students and employees vacated the school building on a two-line formation with two hands on top of their heads.
