Nina Mason Pulliam Legacy Scholars Program The program was created by the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust in 2001 in tribute to the life and values of Nina Mason Pulliam. The Nina Scholars Program is available to students at all Maricopa Community Colleges. The program provides students from disadvantaged backgrounds the resources and financial support to successfully complete their college education.
Nina Scholars Program Criteria Individuals must meet at least one of the following criteria: 1. Students ages 18 - 25 who have been raised through the child welfare system* and have no form of financial support. 2. College-age youth and adults with physical disabilities.* 3. Adults who are 25 years or older and have dependents in their family units.* Applicants must also meet all of the following: • Be working toward their first college degree • Be a United States citizen and resident of Arizona • Demonstrate financial need • Have previously completed no more than 24 college level credits

Nina Mason Pulliam (1906-1997) Nina Mason Pulliam was a business leader, journalist, humanitarian and a lover of all creatures. At her direction, upon her death, her assets were placed into an irrevocable charitable trust to support the causes she loved in her home states of Arizona and Indiana. The Trust began its grantmaking in 1998.
The scholarship covers full tuition (up to 24 credits per academic year), fees, and books for four years (eight consecutive semesters). It also includes a $2,750 annual living allowance. In addition, each student is provided with an academic mentor. The Nina Scholars program is highly focused on all aspects of the success of its student participants.
