CHAPTER 1 THE IROQUOIS The Iroquois lived live in a variety of ways. One way is their shelter which is very unique. The Iroquois lived in large villages called long houses. It was made of a wood frame and covered with Elm Bark. These long houses could be more than a hundred feet long and twenty-five feet wide. The Iroquois added a few smoke holes for if they cook the smoke could go right out the long house. Many long houses had a huge pole fence built around them additional protection . The poles ended in large sharp points to discourage anyone from climbing over. Stairs were built so that archers could easily climb up and defend for attack.
The Iroquois played a game called Lacrosse when they were kids. The men of the Iroquois were who was in charge back then. The women were the only people that could vote because they got to decide who was in charge. They wore false masks when they danced and played the drums. Also, they used flutes to woo the women in the crowd. They steamed wood so they could make tools. Their knives were made of flint and wood. They had water that they used for their drums. Also, they had rattles made out of turtle. They spoke six different languages. The Iroquois traded with many other Indian tribes.
Iroquois The Iroquois are the original residents or the Eastern woodlands. The heart of their homeland is now in what we call new York. Some lived in grassland. Still today
some live in new york. there area was rocky with heavy forest. The grass land was dry with a little trees.
The Iroquois Indians The Iroquois are some amazing Indians who had nation that was like a republic. Some Iroquois Indians still live in Northern America.
Chapter 1 Transportation How did they move from place to place. The Iroquoian traveled by land. But when fishing they used em-bark canoes, which are daunt shape canoes. In the winter they traveled by sled, but They might also travel by walking in snow boots.
