PORTFOLIO OF ACTIVITIES ABOUT THE METHODS OF TEACHING.. Student: Mariel Salas Bolaños Profesor: Starling Aguilar Jimenez


ORAL APPROACH ➤

Procedure: Students will work in pairs. Each student has a flash card with an image and the other student has a flash card with a name, action, verb, etc. So, they have to find the partner depending on the images and the meanings. After that, they have to discuss and write five sentences each about the content on the flash card. Repeat this 3 times because at the end the students will produce 15 sentences about different vocabulary according to the lesson.

Materials: Flash cards about body parts.


AUDIOLINGUAL METHOD ➤

Procedure: Students will work with a dialogue about shopping for clothing, so each student has the dialogue and the teacher read aloud the dialogue. After that, students will work in a role play about the context in the dialogue. As a finale, pairs of students practice the dialogue together and present it to the class changing the vocabulary used.

Materials: Shopping clothes dialogue. Salesman: Hello, can I help you? Customer: Yes, please. I’m looking for a T-shirt (1) . Salesman: Follow me, please. What is your size? Customer: Medium (2) . TOTAL PHYSICAL RESPONSE ➤

Procedure: Students will listen to a song about the body parts. After that, they will sing and follow a choreography touching the body parts in the song. At the end, students will memorize the song and all the body parts in a funny way.

COMMUNITY LANGUAGE LEARNING. ➤

Procedure: Students create a paired dialogue so that each line begins with the next letter of the alphabet. The purpose of this activity is a confidence booster, to practice real time speaking and vocabulary. For example: + + -

SUGGESTOPEDIA. ➤

Procedure: Students will make an artistic and a new version story. Students will work in groups (3-6 people) depending on the characters of the popular story (Little Red Riding Hood, Three Little Pigs, Romeo and Juliet, etc). They have to prepare the dialogue using the correct grammar, vocabulary and verb tenses studied in class. By doing this, the students can learn many things indirectly in the classroom and learning in a different way.

Materials: costume as hats, mustaches, hoods, fake swords, pig noses, etc.


WHOLE LANGUAGE ➤

Procedure: Students will read a book named “Klimt and his cat”. Each student has to read a paragraph of the book. So, the rest of the classroom must continue reading silently until it is the turn to read aloud. If the students do not know a word in the reading, they can search in the dictionary or ask the teacher. The idea is to read the book in the classroom and each student has to read a paragraph aloud. Furthermore, this is such a great book if you want to introduce art and painters to children. They do a good job narrating the artist's life and some details about the art.

Materials: Klimt and his cat book.


MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES ➤

Procedure: Students will bring to the class their favorite thing in their world (no animals). After that, they have to present their favorite thing to the class. After that, the class will be divided into two groups countable or uncountable, each student has to choose a group depending on their things. Finally, each group has to create a story using all the favorites things. This activity can make a great environment in the class and involve English in the daily routine teaching at the same time.

NEUROLINGUISTIC PROGRAMMING ➤

Procedure: Students will work in pairs. Student A has an image. Student B has to notice how this image makes he feels. After that, students change positions. The idea behind this thought process is that it helps you see how people or events affect you and understand the way you feel about them by manipulating images in this way, you are teaching your brain to magnify good feelings and make bad feelings weaker.

Material: flash cards about people, actions, movies, food.


COMPETENCY BASED LANGUAGE TEACHING ➤

Procedure: Students will close their eyes and listen this video https://www.youtube.com/ watch?v=kl0XaiN-FtE. After that, they have to express their emotions about the environment. Besides, they will create 10 sentences using the vocabulary according to the video and simple past. Finally, they will share their sentences with a classmate and discuss.

COMMUNICATIVE LANGUAGE TEACHING. ➤

Procedure: Students will work in pairs seeing the video Before the Flood. Students will ask essential questions about the topic. After that, students will make a circle and discuss the main topic and share their opinions with the class. Opinion sharing is a great way to get more introverted students to open up and share their opinions. If a student has a strong opinion about a certain topic, then they will speak up and share. THE NATURAL APPROACH ➤

Procedure: Students will work in pairs and watch a video about daily routine. Besides, they will describe what they habitually do in their daily routine. Students will write the items they saw on the video. Doing this student will be an emphasis on comprehension and production.

COOPERATIVE LANGUAGE TEACHING ➤

Procedure: Students will work in groups (3-6 people). They will make a stand about climate change using the vocabulary according to the topic and use the correct verb tenses studied in classes. At the end, they will share the content with their classmates. Doing this student will be more involved working in a group and learning at the same time.

CONTET-BASED LANGUAGE. ➤

Procedure: Students will work in groups (3-4 people). They will investigate about global issues using a suitable source. After that, they have done their research they form new groups with students that used other information sources and share and compare their information. Finally, students will make a group report and presentation about the topic. Doing this the students learn language automatically. Keeping the students motivated and interested in the language training because when students are interested and motivated in the material they are learning, they make greater connections to life situations, learning language becomes a fun and easy activity.
