2014 ANNUAL REPORT
Tradition. Community. Innovation.
It is a great time to be a part of the Mariemont City Schools. Our school district is well positioned for today and tomorrow. Our staff and students are performing at incredible levels; our facilities and resources are in place to meet the educational needs we face; and our finances are in order. All of this is working in concert to make our mission a reality to create the scholars of today and the leaders of tomorrow! Every day, we work to systemically increase individual student achievement through rigorous curriculum design, instructional best practices and purposeful environments that maximize learner autonomy and capacity to thrive in the 21st century. The work we are doing through our Destination 2026 initiative embodies what we believe as a school district. From kindergarten through 12th grade, staff members are identifying ways to make real-life connections to the curriculum, extend learning beyond textbooks and the four walls of the classroom, and position the future of learning to best meet the needs of all students.
The Mariemont City School District reflects the high expectations that our community has for its schools. Excellence defines our financial operations, academic achievements and curricular offerings. The school district also reflects our community’s desire to operate in a fiscally conservative manner. Voters reaffirmed their support of Mariemont City Schools with the passage of our operating levy request this past fall, and we are very thankful for this continued support. We worked hard to communicate with our stakeholders and exceed the Board’s promise of making the 2010 levy last for three years. With this most recent levy request, the Board has again made the same three-year promise to voters, and our work to keep this promise starts now. We will continue to seek efficiencies and savings; we will continue to look for ways to streamline our operations
We are also driven to provide diverse curricular offerings to our students. New courses like Mandarin Chinese and Robotics are providing skill sets to our students that are invaluable in the 21st century. We are constantly looking at all areas of study to see how we can enhance and refine the learning experience for all students. Additionally, each school is also focused on providing a positive school climate for everyone who enters our doors. Students are emerging as leaders in kindness, empathy and connection to their peers. I am proud of the work we are doing, and I truly hope that you are as well. Because of the thoughtful support of our community and the relentless dedication of our staff, Mariemont City Schools will continue doing great things for our children! Sincerely,
Steven Estepp Superintendent, Mariemont City Schools
and share services where possible; and we will continue to make sure our voice is heard at the state level to protect and preserve our state funding, something that is increasingly becoming a challenge for school districts like ours. Know that Superintendent Steven Estepp and I believe strong fiscal stewardship is essential to the excellence that we provide in the classroom, and we are both committed to it, while still providing a diverse and robust curriculum for our students. Our schools are outstanding because we have excellent communities and residents who care about and value education. Thank you, as always, for your continued support of Mariemont City Schools. Respectfully,
Tom Golinar Treasurer, Mariemont City Schools
