Curiosity


The rover’s name is Curiosity. Curiosity was landing on mars the date of August 5, 2012, and successfully made it.

NASA was aiming for the Gale crater while landing the rover.

Curiosity is built out of science equipment. When the scientists landed the rover they wanted to know the water sources and weather patterns. Curiosity has a hand that has 4 different science equipment to look at rocks.

On Curiosity there is 17 cameras. Curiosity only travels of 1.5 inches per second. Curiosity is compacted in an aero shell to protect it from burning up inside. Curiosity has solar panels to keep it powered for hours, days, and weeks.


NASA had to perfectly hit one spot or the whole project would be a fail. The rovers are millions and millions of dollars to build and test. Luckily all the rovers like spirit, opportunity, and curiosity made it to mars.

A rover is a type of machine like a remote control car. The rover Curiosity is the size of a real size car. When Curiosity was launched it was in a rocket.

The name came from a sixth grader named Clara Ma and she beat 9,000 other votes. She got a special tour of NASA’s Jet Proplusion Laboratory
