PECULIARITIES IN THE MANAGEMENT OF RURAL ACCOMMODATIONS

To have a website and promotion and information documents for the customer.

To have a proper signs system for the customers access to the establishment. It is advisable to locate the customer geologically in the hotel's web. The customers have normally a GPS when going to a rural hotel.

To offer a complementary service to the one that the customers normally contract, as many of these customers, when going to this type of establishment, they look for the Spa services.

The customers requires information about the activities carried out and that are normally related to the nature and the environment (active

tourism activities, vineyard visits, pottery, cows milking, canyoning, etc...)

âž”

The hotels offer regulary activities packs reated with agrotourism, ecotourism and wine tourism.

âž”

They also offer adapted services to the customer preferences (favourite room, diet, activities, etc...). They normally offer a wide menu with typical food of the zone where the hotel is located. The clients appreciate this point, it is very important for them to know the place gastronomy.

âž”

The hotels are usually small; this is why they use the social media or personalised e-mails to every customer to get promotion and

to try to make them loyal, and their marketing campaigns are cheaper.

ARCHITECTURAL STYLES AND

CONSTRUCTIONS OF THE ALPUJARRA The traditional house is structured on two levels, with the lower

level for animals and the terrao (granary) and the upper level as the dwelling-space, with a dining-room/kitchen with a large

fireplace and the staircase down to the lor level. Light comes from a single window or balcony. The bedrooms are off this main room

sometimes separated only by a simple curtain of traditional local

cloth.

The urban design of the Alpujarra, inherited from the Moors, has maintained the structure of narrow, winding streets with

cube-shaped houses stacked one on top of the other. Sometimes the

streets widen out somewhat to create a small square, housing shops, bars, the town hall or the churc.

The narrow streets, full of hidden corners, constantly change their level and direction and sometimes pass

beneath the houses under a kind of bridge structure known as a tinao, with bare alfagĂas visible between the eaves.

These tinaos are usually whitewashed together with the walls of the houses, combining with brightly coloured

flowerpots and the area’s special light to create images of great plasticity, explaining to a great extent their attraction for artists.

Another characteristic feature of these buildings is their conical chimneys, topped with a hat-like cover.

TYPICAL ELABORATIONS AND MORE REPRESENTATIVE GASTRONOMIC PRODUCTS La Alpujarra gastronomy embraces two native gastronomic sources: Moors and Christian.

Typical fare is hearty, rustic and very rich in calories. Some of the typical dishes are: country dumplings, hot pot a la gitanilla, kid a lo cortijero, delicious Alpujarra soup (with almonds), papas a lo pobre and sacromonte omelette.

Pork and lamb dishes are also very popular. Perhaps the best know speciality is Jamon Serrano, the famous mountain-air-cured ham from TrevĂŠlez. There a lot of hams dryers. Another speciality is black pudding.

All of this can be washed down with local wine from the

Contraviesa, AlbuĂąol, AlbondĂłn and Laujar de Andarax. La Alpujarra also has a wide variety of cakes and dainties, again of Moorish-Andalucia origin, such as Pampaneira

doughnuts, Morisco sweets and soplillos. You may often buy these from stalls in the local or travelling markets, and are nearly always to be found at local fiestas. The honey and jam from La Alpujarra is also delicious. There are so many importants chocolate factory.CLICK HERE

SPECIFIC QUALITY STANDARDS IN RURAL ACOMMODATION ESTABLISHMENTS

The quality systems in the rural tourist accommodations are the following: 1. ISO 9000 standards

2. Spanish Tourist Quality Standards (Q) 3.UNE 183001:2009 Rural accommodation. Service requirements

1-ISO 9000 standards

In this, we can distinguish three organisms:

The first are STANDARDIZING ORGANIZATIONS, are non-profit private entities engaged in developing activities related to the development and

approval of standards, such as ISO, CEN and AENOR. The advantages of

certifying a service is to differentiate itself from the competition, increase the credibility of our services, increase the recognition of the service

and give advertising, customer loyalty and profit.

The second are CERTIFICATION ORGANIZATIONS: their purpose is to validate the compliance of a particular company, where IQNET and IIOC are located.

Thirdly and lastly we have the ACCREDITATION ORGANIZATIONS: these formally accredit the technical competence of a certification body. In Spain we have ENAC.

2-Spanish Tourist Quality Standards (Q) These are standards oriented to the tourism sector and the fulfillment of which is voluntary for the companies that are part of the sector.

The most widespread element of the system is the Q-Mark, whose generic name is 'Spanish Tourist Quality.'

The ICTE organization is in charge of maintaining this certification.

To obtain the certification it is necessary to pass an audit performed by an auditing entity accredited by ICTE. The aspects that are valued are: -Criteria of evaluation of the Quality System -Criterio of standard evaluation of Quality

-Criteria of evaluation physical examination

DIFFICULTIES FOR PEOPLE WITH SOME DISABILITIES

The first inconvenience that disabled people find when staying in a rural atmosphere is the one built for the distances, either the one according to the building constructions or the one according to the services offered (hospitals, supermarkets...). These

circunstances present the first difficulty. The low density limits the arrival of resources. In addition, there exist the depopulation that suffer many rural cores, which may provoque the possibility of the abandonment of those resting. The disabilities entities of the sector have to develop important efforts to cover this lack of public services appropiated to their needs.

The transport is an estrategic element for the disabled people social inclusion. It results exesively general in a rural atmosphere the non-existence of adapted transport. There are just a little lines with adapted buses. The line buses, that in many places are also

little, are generally inaccessible for reduces mobility people. As well, a part of some exeptional case, there's not a protocol for the disabled people attendance in the transport.

As a consequence of all this. The disabled person depends on his/her own or his/her family, neighbours, this is, people of his/her inmediate atmosphere to transport his/her when necessary.

DIFFICULTIES FOR PEOPLE WITH SOME DISABILITIES

There are asociations in the sector that try to cover this deficiency in some territories and for some activities, but still with big limitations.

The conditions in the traditional rural houses normally make difficult the mobility of people with limitations or different functional capacities, and in many ocations, they have a minimun comfort degree.

The possible solutions that may be given to this problem present in the rural atmosphere, have to be executed in a way that

don't modify visually the environment. In this case, the government participation is crutial, and they might be concious about this issue. The transport companies should change some of the buses used and start using at least a couple of lines adapted to

wheelchairs, and also add some more lines going to the main public services. According to the roads, they should also be paved properly, with a part for pedestrian and, in this case, the wheelchairs. I would also add that some couses given to the people living in rural places about how to act when helping disabled people in case of natural dissasters.
