The Takeaway - The key to failure

Page 1

THE KEY TO FAILURE Don't be discouraged by failure. Failure, in a sense, is the highway to success because every discovery of what is false leads us to seek after what is true. And every fresh experience points out an error which we shall, afterwards, carefully avoid. You've failed many times, although you may not remember. You fell down the first time you tried to walk. You may have almost drowned the first time you tried to swim. Did you hit the ball the first time you swung a bat? Heavy hitters, the ones who hit the most home runs, also strike out a lot. R.H. Macy failed seven times before his store in New York caught on. English novelist John Creasey got 753 rejection slips before he published 564 books. Babe Ruth struck out 1,330 times, but he also hit 714 home runs. Don't worry about failure. Worry about the chances you miss when you don't even try. When nothing seems to help- go look at a stonecutter hammering away at his rock perhaps a hundred times without so much as a crack showing on it. Yet at the hundred and first blow it will split in two, and I know that it was not that blow that did it - but all that had gone before it. THE KEY IS TO NEVER GIVE UP! WHETHER YOU THINK YOU CAN OR YOU THINK YOU CAN'T - YOU ARE RIGHT!
