SPRING 2021

MARINEMAX LIFESTYLES

AT THE HELM Welcome Happy New Year! As the saying goes, “out with the old, in with the new.” I am sure everyone is ready to leave 2020 behind and are looking forward to a new year full of possibilities. While social distancing and travel restrictions presented some challenges, it also provided us with the opportunity to spend more quality time with our families. Many people rediscovered the great benefits of boating. It was a great way to relieve some of our stress, to connect with our children and make memories with our loved ones. Boating is a great recreation that brings families and friends together and allows all of us to slow down and have fun. Last year we continued to make investments in our team, our dealerships and our technology to make buying and owning a boat even easier. Our website provides 24/7 access to our inventory to help find the boat of your dreams from the comfort of your home or just about anywhere. And our MarineMax App makes your boating experience even easier with the ability to view our inventory, schedule routine maintenance, see our class and event calendars and more, all from your mobile device. We continue to grow and look for better ways to exceed your expectations. Recently we acquired SkipperBud’s, adding 20 locations and 11 marina and storage facilities in the Great Lakes region and the West Coast. We also acquired Northrop & Johnson, one of the largest superyacht brokerage and luxury yacht services companies with offices across the globe.

This acquisition complemented our previous acquisition of Fraser Yachts. We are now the largest superyacht company in the world. We are committed to growing and offering the right brands of boats to meet your individual needs. We hope you enjoy this issue filled with interesting articles, some featured brands, and useful tips. Thank you for being a part of the MarineMax family and we hope you have wonderful adventures on the water with your family and close friends. From our entire MarineMax family to yours, we are United by Water.

Effortless Entertaining Luxurious Aviara makes sophisticated entertaining easy. By Sue Rodman

“The design of the boat is so intuitive...The layout is perfect for spending hours out on the water. There is so much room to relax, and the aft seating arrangement allows our guests to be on the boat or in the water, yet share the same experience.”

K

risti Lam loves to entertain. As the owner of Clearwater Wine Bar & Bistro, she spends her days creating memorable experiences for restaurant and catering customers. Now she and her husband Dave have another venue for entertaining, the Lady Bella, a 32-foot Aviara luxury day boat. Aviara is a new line from MasterCraft influence and sold exclusively by MarineMax. “The design of the boat is so intuitive,” said Kristi Lam. “The layout is perfect for spending hours out on the water. There is so much room to relax, and the aft seating arrangement allows our guests to be on the boat or in the water, yet share the same experience.”

8

MarineMax Lifestyles

Similar to a well-appointed pool deck, the aft seating on the Lady Bella includes three side-by-side adjustable chaise lounges, each with ample under seat storage for a combined roomy 34x68 inch sun pad. Unique to the Aviara is a second row of pop up bar stools behind the chaise creating stadium seating for up to six people to face the water. Each cushion is made of CoolFeel vinyl upholstery making it comfortable to sit on even in direct sunlight. The couple’s favorite feature on the boat is the power controlled sun-shade system crafted by MakeFast, Europe’s premier shade-system manufacturer. With the push of a button, the shade covers the

entire back portion of the boat, all the way to the engine. In addition there is a front bimini shade that takes about four minutes to put up – protecting the entire 32-foot craft from the suns rays, something Lam’s husband, a dermatologist, appreciates. The heart of the entertaining happens between the stern and the port side. Guests relax in L-shaped seating, where Lam can pop up a triangular table for lunch or happy hour in less than two minutes. Drinks are secure in five stainless steel beverage holders mounted in teak in the bulwarks. If guests prefer to be upright, no problem, the Aviara is deep enough for someone over six feet to stand comfortably on deck and in the head.

10

MarineMax Lifestyles

As a caterer, Lam appreciates the wet bar across from the luxurious seating – especially the space to chill three upright wine bottles. In addition, the area has a sink, pull-out cooler, refrigerated drawer, trash and a small teak corner counter with three beverage holders. All of this is under a fiberglass hard top that includes mood setting LED RGB accent lights that can change color, as well as two of eight 1500-watt Klipsch speakers. “When I cater an event,” said Lam, “I walk through what my customers will be doing to ensure every detail is addressed. I feel like the Aviara design team did the same thing with this boat. The flow is seamless.” That sense of stress-free boating extends to the driver as well. The helm is well thought out with a clean triple-display dash, one-touch joystick piloting and an Italian handcrafted hydraulic steering wheel. The twin Mercury Verado 350 outboard motors bring the right amount of power, and the boat offers excellent maneuverability. “It handles like a Porsche,” said Vincent Martone, the sales consultant from MarineMax Clearwater that worked with the Lams. “It’s such a stable boat,” commented Lam. “During our first trip to Longboat Key we hit a storm. There was a small craft advisory, and there was a portion of the ride that required us to be in the Gulf during rough seas, yet the boat handled beautifully, we didn’t even get sprayed by the wave splash.”

One of the Lam’s favorite places to anchor up is the north end of Clearwater Beach. The boat’s shallow draft allows them to get close to the dog-friendly shore where the family, which includes the couple’s two cocker spaniels Bella and Sadie, can enjoy swimming and chasing balls on the beach. The couple’s most memorable trip was to St. Petersburg, where they parked the boat at The Vinoy Renaissance Resort Marina and stayed at the historic hotel in the heart of downtown St. Petersburg. The trip took about 45 minutes in the Aviara and was so easy they plan to make it a monthly excursion. The novel design of the Aviara inspired Lam to do some innovating too. She created a new gourmet picnic menu for the Clearwater Wine Bar & Bistro. “The menu items are perfect for a day on the water and come in containers that fit perfectly into the Aviara refrigerator,” she said. “It’s effortless entertaining, just like the boat.”

W

ith her five-year-old daughter asleep in the backseat, Laura Jean Vonn practiced backing the trailer of her Sea Ray 1995 200Br in and out of the water under the careful tutelage of MarineMax sales consultant Roger Duffee. Newly divorced, Vonn was fulfilling a lifelong dream of owning a boat. “I was all set to sign the papers and I stopped, looked at Roger and said - if I do this, will you teach me, because I’ve never driven a boat,” said Vonn. “He laughed and

12

the next thing I knew we were at the 360 Bridge and boat ramp on Lake Austin, and I was learning how to get my boat in and out of the water.” That was almost twenty years ago, Vonn’s daughter Amy now has a child of her own. Some of her best memories were made on the lake and she wants to share the boating lifestyle with her daughter as she grows up. That got Vonn thinking. It had been several years since she had a boat. She had sold her last Sea Ray, a 24 foot 220 Sundeck, when life got busy

with kids and work, leaving little time for boating. But recent changes and a nudge from her daughter had her considering boating once again. She figured if she couldn’t go on vacation, she could make her own vacation on nearby Lake Travis, one that could be shared safely with family and friends. Vonn called her old friend Roger Duffee. At first she looked at used boats, but when she walked into the showroom and saw the 2020 Sea Ray SPX 190 sport boat, it was love at first sight. And after looking at the numbers, she realized that a new boat made economic sense too. “People don’t realize all the options you have when buying a boat. I was able to finance it at historically low interest rates, and the Sea Ray comes with a five-year

factory warranty. Plus, I was able to get the latest technology and all the features I wanted.” Those features include a premium FUSION audio system with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi streaming, something the used boats didn’t have. Plus Vonn likes the comfortable roomy interior with a sporty captain’s chair at the helm that can slide, and swivel with a flip-up bolster to convert to a standing position. The Sea Ray’s highly social cockpit includes a companion seat on the passenger side that has the option to pop out to form a love seat, or go as is for added legroom. Behind the cockpit is a rear bench with seating for three, and a huge sundeck sunpad, which lifts for easy access to the MerCruiser 4.5 liter engine.

The spacious bow is accessed through a center door and is big enough to fit three adults comfortably. It also includes ample storage under the cushions. “It is like having three separate rooms, so if someone is talking politics, you can get up and move to one of the other sections,” laughed Vonn. Swimming is a favorite activity for Vonn and her family and friends, and they like to tie up in Little Devil’s Cove. A side walk-through on the Sea Ray offers easy access to a large swim platform with stainless steel four-step swim ladder to get in and out of the water easily. The SeaDeck material on the platform is more comfortable on little feet and slip resistant; something important as her granddaughter Ellie grows up.

14

MarineMax Lifestyles

Vonn’s daughter and son-in-law like water sports and are looking forward to sharing that experience with their daughter. The Sea Ray has a water sport tower that makes it easy to tow tubers or skiers. Hidden under the aft lounger is a monster bulk storage area for deflated towables, and in the floor of the cockpit is another large ski locker to get gear out of the way, leaving more room on the boat to move around. When out with her friends, Vonn likes to pull up to the Emerald Point Bar and Grill for the best hamburger and fries and maybe a shot of Don Julio tequila. If the band Suede is playing, she knows all her boat people will be there. And when the boating day is done, the center of the lake at sunset is magical. “Boating creates a bond. When I started this journey, my daughter was little, and now she has a baby of her own. Roger and MarineMax gave me the confidence to own my own boat, and it’s given me a level of independence that I don’t feel in other places,” said Vonn. “I forgot what an anomaly it is to be a woman boat owner. People always ask if I’m afraid to take it out. The answer is no. I tell them, you can do anything, just ask a lot of questions and you can do it.” A wonderful lesson she can now pass on to a new generation.

Education | Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation

Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation dives into K-12 education. By Fred Garth, Editor, Guy Harvey Magazine

S

ome of us were born with the lure of open water in our veins. Others discovered later in life the sheer pleasure of the wind tickling over their skin. Either way, we all fell in love. And for most of us, our relationship with the water is a lifelong marriage. I was lucky enough to be a sea baby. I learned to swim at 2, got up on water skis at 4 and had my own boat at 6 — an old, ramshackle 14-foot wooden (and leaky) hull with a Johnson Seahorse 5.5 horsepower engine. Every morning my cousin and I would bail out the 6 inches of water that had seeped into “Greenie” overnight. Then we’d yank start that

little motor and transform into carefree explorers. Those early adventures led me into a lifetime of sailing, scuba diving, windsurfing, kiteboarding, fishing — basically anything that immersed me in the life-giving liquid I love. It also shaped me into an active marine conservationist; I grew up watching industries unapologetically using our water playground to dump their waste. A career in journalism took me around the world to places I’d only dreamed of — Truk Lagoon, Fiji, Palau, Galapagos, the Red Sea and Grand Cayman, where I was fortunate to meet the planet’s most pre-eminent marine conservationist, Dr. Guy Harvey. We

bonded on many levels but mostly because of our love of scuba diving, fishing, boating and, indeed, marine conservation. In 2010, Guy and I teamed up to launch Guy Harvey Magazine in hopes of inspiring and educating people about the vital need to protect our precious lakes, rivers and oceans and the marine life within them. Over the years, Guy Harvey Magazine morphed into an educational vehicle to spread the good word of Dr. Harvey’s 30-plus years of research. School teachers became our strongest advocates, and we embraced their need for quality content. As digital media exploded, Guy rode that wave too. Now, more than 25 million followers are touched by his messages.

“I didn’t know how people would react to my art...Fortunately, there was an immediate attraction by the fishing and boating community, which opened my eyes to a whole new world.”

MarineMax.com MarineMax.com 17 17

His weekly Facebook Live sessions exceed 100,000 viewers each Saturday morning. While many know Guy Harvey the artist, conservationist and T-shirt magnate, at his core, Guy is a teacher. He earned his PhD in marine biology in the 1970s and went on to teach at the University of the West Indies in Jamaica. At the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show in 1986, he was encouraged to display some of his artwork. Every piece of art sold, and soon his hobby became his occupation. “I didn’t know how people would react to my art,” Dr. Harvey said. “Fortunately, there was an immediate attraction by the fishing and boating community, which opened my eyes to a whole new world,” That world now includes the Guy Harvey Research Institute at Nova Southeastern University, which conducts vital research on a variety of marine species; the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation (GHOF), which has awarded close to a million dollars in scholarships to students studying marine-related topics; and a thriving licensing business with Guy Harvey-branded products, from boat shoes to hats and my golden doodle’s favorite, Guy Harvey dog beds. These accomplishments are impressive on many levels, but if there’s one truism about Dr. Harvey, it’s that his forward momentum is perpetual. Within the past year, the GHOF sharpened its focus on education with the goal of providing quality marine education to students K-12 across the U.S. and globally. A meeting in early 2020 with Guy and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis garnered support from Florida’s Department of Education and the Florida Virtual School. By spring of 2021, the state will launch three new Guy Harveybranded and enhanced curriculums: Environmental Science, Marine Science 1 and a fully STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) integrated curriculum about sharks. Simultaneously, Discovery Education, the world’s largest online learning platform and a spinoff of the Discovery Channel, created a Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation portal with a potential reach of 50 million students and 5 million teachers in more than 150 countries. Students

18

MarineMax Lifestyles

watch bite-sized, 1-to-5 minute videos about everything from corals to great white sharks — all filmed and delivered to requisite educational standards. The GHOF also teamed up with curriculum experts Oceans First to expand upon their existing Marine Science 101 course. That program launched in October and is currently available free to students and teachers everywhere. More collaboration with Ocean First is delivering mind blowing 360-degree virtual field trips via virtual reality goggles that allow students to swim with dolphins and whales and dive on coral reefs — all

from the classroom or at home — without even getting wet. As a lifelong water freak myself, helping to educate kids and their parents about the marine environment is a dream come true. For those of us with the sea churning through our bloodstream, the GHOF’s focus on education is the pathway to keeping our precious waterways clean, safe and sustainable for many years to come. “In the end we will conserve only what we love; we will love only what we understand; and we will understand only what we are taught.” (Baba Dioum, 1968.)

DOWN FROM THE MOUNTAINS The Boston Whaler 210 Montauk makes the perfect platform for the Allen family to explore their new saltwater home in Wrightsville Beach, N.C. By Sue Rodman

I

n July, 2020, Britt and Davis Allen, a former Realtor and a physician, moved their family from the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina, to the seaside community of Wrightsville Beach, N.C. The Allens both grew up on freshwater lakes, but neither had any saltwater boating experience. “When we came here, it just made sense to get a boat,” Britt says. Their sons, Shane, 4, and Joe, 18 months, love the water and so does their standard poodle, Roy. While there is a strict leash law on the local beaches, she says, they can take their dog and the kids on the boat to a nearby sandbar or island, drop the anchor and let them run and swim. The couple did their due diligence first, checking several different types of boat. “I wanted a dual-console in the beginning,” Britt admits. But with the help of MarineMax Wrightsville Beach

20

MarineMax Lifestyles

Sales Consultant Christopher Hoenig, the Allens ultimately found the perfect boat for their family, a new Boston Whaler 210 Montauk powered by a 200-hp V6 Mercury FourStroke outboard. “Chris was amazing. We never felt any pressure and it was all about education,” Britt says. Boston Whaler’s “unsinkable” foamcore construction was a major selling point. “We both drive super-safe cars. Safety is Number One,” Britt says, adding, “We feel completely safe on the boat.” Also important to the couple was the ability to customize the Boston Whaler 210 Montauk to suit their needs. They opted for a high split bowrail forward to keep the kids secure, as well as the forward lounge seating package, where the kids and Roy love to hang out. Adding to their comfort on board, the console is a plumbed head inside.

The couple also ordered the optional hardtop to provide shade and added a white powder-coated Ski Tow Bar. “We love to ski and kneeboard and wakeboard,” Britt says. They opted for a fishing package with a live baitwell because they plan to introduce their sons to angling. “We know the boys will be out fishing when they are a little older,” she says. Style was important as well. They picked tan for the hull color and the underside of the hardtop. In addition, Britt says, “I wanted a white outboard.” The Allens took delivery of their boat this past fall. “We named it The Duchess. That’s because I’m the only girl,” she says. Both she and Davis drive the boat – a skill they honed through more than four hours of instruction with Captain Adam of MarineMax Wrightsville Beach. “Their customer service is so awesome,” Britt says.

MarineMax.com

21

“He taught us how to dock,” Davis says, adding that he especially likes the engine’s “safe mode”, which prevents the driver from accidentally giving it too much throttle while docking. While the 210 Montauk is the perfect size for trailering, the Allens decided to keep it at their local marina, Seapath Yacht Club, which is only two miles from their house. That way, “We can just jump on the boat and go,” Britt says. Because the boat is berthed in a wet slip, Chris Hoenig arranged for its hull to receive a coat of antifouling paint – another part of the learning curve about keeping a boat in a saltwater environment for the couple. An instant hit with the whole family, The Duchess has been in nearly constant use since August. “We have been out as much as possible,” Britt says. Even the cooler fall weather hasn’t stopped them from enjoying the Whaler. “If it’s 70 degrees, we’re out in sweatshirts,” she says.

22

MarineMax Lifestyles

The Allens love the fact that they can take friends along on their boating adventures. “We can seat nine people, Davis says. While the boat’s top speed is around 45 mph, he says, “We typically cruise at 25 mph, which gives us the best gas mileage.” Beaches, islands and dock ‘n’ dine restaurants are the family’s main destinations, but they have already used the Whaler to explore further down the North Carolina coast. “We’ve taken it to Bald Head Island, which is about 50 miles away,” Davis says. They have a trip to Charleston, South Carolina, planned for the spring. The Allen family already has enjoyed a peak experience aboard The Duchess. “We went offshore and followed about 30 dolphin for half an hour,” Britt said. “It felt fabulous.”

HAVE MORE

FUN ON YOUR

BOAT Whether you are new to boating or experienced hands, the MarineMax crew can help everyone have more fun on the water. By Alan Jones

W

hen people buy from MarineMax, they’re not just getting a great boat, they also become part of an extended family who shares a passion for the water. At first, boating can be a little intimidating to some but thanks to the support of the MarineMax team — which not only includes its employees but also fellow customers — new boaters discover the learning curve is short…and fun. Some dealers will sell a boat and tell the owners to go out and have fun but MarineMax’s unwritten message is subtly different: Let’s all go out and enjoy boating together. MarineMax’s CEO and President, Brett McGill explains, “Our customer philosophy of ‘Teach Me, Service Me and Show Me How to Have Fun’ resonates with our team. We welcome new boaters into our family and strive to exceed their expectations and maintain relationships with them for years.” With the COVID-19 situation, many new people are discovering boating is the perfect family activity even if they’ve never been out on the water before. It’s an ideal way to have fun outdoors while giving them the ability to social distance whenever they wish. The intimate confines of a boat help make it the ultimate family bonding experience and boating is a great way to create lasting memories. When all of this is over, one of the positives participants will fondly remember is that it brought them into the boating lifestyle. And they might be surprised to learn it wasn’t just a stop-gap activity to be dropped when things return to normal but rather it’s something that becomes part of your identity. People don’t say, “We participate in boating,” but rather, “We are boaters.”

FIND YOUR IDEAL BOAT Having fun on the water starts with owning the ideal boat for your lifestyle and no one has more boats than MarineMax. Its team members are trained to help prospective owners find the perfect boat they can grow into. To get a quick glimpse at what’s available, go to marinemax.com and click on the Find a Boat tab. There, you’ll be able to quickly target new and used boats by 14 different parameters such as size, brand or price. When it comes time for service, the MarineMax App makes it easy to schedule with just a couple of quick entries. It also sends reminders for upcoming service needs to make sure your boat is always maintained properly. Compatible with iPhone or Android devices, the app also keeps boaters up to date with dealership events such as classes and Demo Days.

KNOWLEDGE = CONFIDENCE

26

MarineMax Lifestyles

Nothing improves your confidence as a boater more than gaining knowledge and MarineMax offers a treasure trove of information in a variety of ways. First, when a person buys a boat from MarineMax, a delivery captain will make sure owners can launch and retrieve their boat at the ramp, have an understanding of all its features and know how to operate the boat to its fullest potential.

taught thousands in its Women on Water® (WOW) classes, which are conducted at many local MarineMax locations and empower participants to have the confidence to take their turn at the wheel. These training sessions are taught by U.S Coast Guard-licensed captains and are held in small, supportive groups who first go through classroom sessions before heading to the water for hands-on training.

Online at marinemax.com, you’ll find how-to videos, links to available online courses and local in-person training sessions targeted toward helping new and experienced boaters become more proficient. And these in-person training sessions aren’t just for Dads, who tend to hog most of the time at the wheel but also the rest of the family. MarineMax has

Those who are new to boating will find many in-person classes at various MarineMax locations that teach all aspects of boating like docking, fishing, electronics, maintenance and safety to name just a few. YOUR TICKET TO ADVENTURE Sometimes boaters can fall into a rut and stay within a narrow comfort zone that can grow old, such as heading to the same cove or sandbar every weekend or cruising the same loop over and over. Unlike cars that make you follow along with everyone else, boats can go almost anywhere there’s enough water under the keel. Sophisticated electronics make it simple to navigate to new areas but even with this technology at their fingertips, some boaters are reluctant to head off into the unfamiliar. Making trips to places like the Bahamas or the Florida Keys for the first time can be pretty intimidating even for experienced boaters but with many options for annual MarineMax Dayaways! and Getaways!®, boaters can be part of a flotilla led by skippers who know the ropes and can offer assistance if needed. Dayaways! are shorter trips to local places while Getaways! are weekend-or-longer trips to popular destinations. Not only do these adventures help boaters find new places they can later visit on their own but perhaps even more importantly, they are scheduled events. It’s one thing to offer the family a vague suggestion that “we’ll go out on the boat this weekend” but having an event written on the calendar means you’ll be less likely to find an excuse not to go. MarineMax has all the ingredients to offer the total package: great boats, outstanding service, extensive boater training and a built-in social life.

MULTI-HULLS FOR

MULTIPLE ADVENTURES In keeping with the growing popularity of power cats, Aquila Power Catamarans continues to add models, suiting buyers from solo cruisers to intrepid families. By Diane Byrne / Photography by Onne Van Der Wal

A

power catamaran brand is born. “I was always a cat guy, ever since I was a little kid,” says Lex Raas, president of Aquila Power Catamarans. With 50 years of experience in the marine industry, Raas is thrilled with the success of Aquila, which he established in 2011 after discussions with Bill McGill, executive chairman of MarineMax, and Frank Xiong, CEO and director of the shipyard Sino Eagle Yacht Company. “Right now, it’s just amazing how power cats are rising in popularity,” he continues, citing the space, ride in heavy seas, and other advantages of the overall design. “It’s come of age.” Despite hundreds of Aquila catamarans having sold, and despite marking milestones like the completion of hull number 100 of the Aquila 36 Sport, Raas isn’t resting on his laurels. Witness the arrival of three new models. They range from a power cat ideally sized for a couple to cruise and fish on to a far larger, more luxuriously appointed yacht for full families. For starters, there’s the Aquila 28 Molokai Cat, a center-console catamaran.

Well-suited for offshore fishing yet appealing to couples or small families who like all-around deck access, the first hull is finishing up at the factory. The design draws largely on Raas’ experience and that of the renowned catamaran designer Kirk Clark. The two are based in Hawaii, where the waters get rough, so they know first-hand how important stability is. They also know how important it is to ensure a soft landing when out in less-than-ideal conditions. The Aquila 28 Molokai Cat therefore has a higher tunnel between its hulls than other catamaran brands do. Equally noteworthy, “It accelerates like crazy,” Raas adds. For proof, he pulls out a few sea-trial results. The 9’9” beam boat hits over 50 mph at wide open throttle. Additionally, even in very rough conditions, the Aquila 28 Molakai Cat cruises comfortably at well over 30 mph. If you’re a fishing fanatic, you’ll appreciate those performance figures, as well as the greater deck space and the center console. That’s why the Aquila 28 Molokai Cat comes outfitted for fishing (and is more utilitarian) in the Pro version. If you’re a cruiser, meanwhile, you’ll want

the Pro Comfort version, with underwater lights and more creature comforts like cushions—still removable should you want to wet a line. Boaters eager to have the horizon shrink behind them can check out the Aquila 54 Yacht Power Catamaran. It offers a 480-nautical-mile range and cruising speeds from 18 to 20 knots with the standard engines. With hull number one launching two months ago, the model additionally offers attractive features like a captain’s cabin, a handful of stateroom choices, plus “galley up” versus “galley down” versions. Very unusual for a 54-foot yacht is the option for a fully enclosed SkyLounge flybridge. Start by selecting the stateroom total that suits you. In the three-cabin arrangement, you get a full-beam (25’2”) master forward, with one guest cabin in each hull. The four-stateroom arrangement adds a guest cabin to one hull, then changes the stateroom in the opposite hull to a bigger VIP. Finally, in the five-cabin configuration, four same-size staterooms complement a smaller master stateroom, though you gain a reading corner.

MarineMax Lifestyles

As for the cooking arrangements, “galley up” sees a main-deck galley, with a sociable twist. It’s positioned at the aft-deck entry, with an opening window for serving friends and family at an alfresco bar. Buyers of the three- and five-stateroom Aquila 54 Yacht get this option. The four-stateroom Aquila 54 Yacht is offered in both the “galley up” or “galley down” layout. The “galley down” version places the cooking area in the hull, with its own access. This layout opens up the main-deck interior, though, for more saloon seating and a formal dining area. Finally, even more avid cruisers will appreciate the Aquila 70 Luxury Power Catamaran. Like the Aquila 54 Yacht, this flagship recently celebrated the launch of hull number one. From the profile—styled to look more yacht-y than many power cats do—to the amenities inside, a lot of the ideas came directly from Aquila customers. Because good use of space is always a must, the Aquila 70 Luxury has an open-plan main deck, along with a choice of three to six staterooms, including your own. Panoramic windows bring in plenty of sunlight to accentuate the interior area, adorned with the rich woods and soft fabrics you’d expect of a luxury yacht. Exterior space is well-laid-out, too. The aft main deck offers a large settee for sitting with friends or keeping an eye on your kids as they swim nearby. Up top, the flying bridge can be enclosed and climatecontrolled, or left open to natural breezes. Further similar to her smaller sisters, the Aquila 70 Luxury prioritizes performance. An optional joystick lets you maneuver the power cat to a 27-knot maximum speed with the standard engine package, then throttle back to extend range for long coastal cruising, island hopping, and more. Raas says it’s been “magic” collaborating with MarineMax and the Sino Eagle Yacht Company to create a variety of models in just nine years. He likens what Aquila is doing to his own personal philosophy. It comes from a famous quote by hockey great Wayne Gretzky, whose father told him, “Skate to where the puck is going, not where it has been.” Sounds like the years ahead are poised for more cool cats.

WATERSPORTS 101 Adding watersports to your repertoire is a great way to add spice to the boating experience and there is a sport for everyone, no matter your age. By Alan Jones

MarineMax.com MarineMax.com 37 37

1

TOWABLE TUBES

If you have a boat that floats and moves, chances are you can tow an inflatable tube, which is by far the most popular watersport. Tubes require special, stouter tow ropes and always attach them to the lower tow point on your boat for safety. Most young kids don’t have a lot of upper body strength and like to feel secure so tubes that they can sit on and be cocooned by a backrest and side bolsters — to keep them from sliding off in turns — are preferable. These are also popular with adult riders for the same reason and they also make great floating loungers for everyone when hanging out at the cove. Another advantage is because riders’ heads are higher and farther back from the front of the tube, spray from the tow rope isn’t as much of a problem. Wearing sunglasses or goggles also helps keeps spray out of riders’ eyes. More adventurous riders find deck-style, saucer tubes to provide a more exciting, water-in-your-face ride. Riders lie, facing forward and hang on for dear life when going over a wake or when being whipped into turns. Wipeouts are a frequent occurrence, which some people love.

2

KNEEBOARDS

Kneeboarding is a good sport for beginners because these boards are wide, stable and the towing speeds are slower too — usually 15-19 mph. Riders can learn to turn by leaning without crashing, which is good training for taking the next step.

38

MarineMax Lifestyles

3

COMBO SKIS

Two skis are easier to get up on than a slalom ski and are wider to provide more lift and stability. Very young riders have a hard time keeping the skis together during takeoff so models that have a stabilizer bar that connects the two skis is a plus. As a skier’s skill level progresses, the bar can be removed and when they are ready to take the next step, one of the skis has a rear foot binding for single-ski slaloming. Adult riders will find a wide range of combo skis and some feature oversized skis designed for larger riders so they can join in the fun.

4

WAKESURF

Hands down the most popular board sport going is wakesurfing and it’s perfect for riders of all ages because of the slow speeds around 12 mph that make wipeouts more like lay-downs. The wide boards make it easy to get on plane and the rider can hang onto a towrope until they’re steady to let go and start free-surfing. Because surfers are close to the stern, boats that tuck the props underneath the hull such as inboard boats like Tigé, MasterCraft, Nautique and ATX, are used. They can also produce mountainous waves, which makes it easier for the rider to keep cruising.

5

SAFETY & FUN

When towing tubes, a skillful driver can provide a thrilling ride without going over 20 mph by making S-turns. The thrill is the tippy feeling a tube makes when crossing the wake. This maneuver keeps the tube continually going back and forth and this action provides the thrill, not launching into the air, which can cause rider injury. If the tube starts turning too fast, the driver should gently back off the throttle a little. Develop good communication with the riders and always have a spotter, which is the law in most places. A rearview mirror

is a great tool for the driver but it’s no substitute for another pair of eyes. When towing skiers, drivers should be smooth on takeoffs, drive in a straight line, watch out for traffic and give a wide berth to hazards like docks and buoys. Find a spot away from other boaters and when riders are getting on and off the boat, shut the key off. A great resource for those new to watersports is the Towed Water Sports Handbook, a 21-page online reference put out by the Water Sports Industry Association that can be found at www.wsia.org. Vacations | Bahamas

THE BAHAMAS ARE OPEN FOR BUSINESS More people are finding a socially-distant escape by chartering a boat and visiting the islands’ stunning beaches. By Reagan Haynes

A

s the pandemic stretches on, people are looking for new ways to travel safely, yet escape the isolation. Increasingly, people are turning to charters to maintain distance and have a floating vacation in The Bahamas, an area that boasts hundreds of islands, cays and pristine beaches. The government of The Bahamas has been working with the Tourism industry to develop safety measures that will allow visitors to enjoy the region’s gorgeous,

40

MarineMax Lifestyles

unspoiled beaches, while also boosting the charter industry that was hit hard by the coronavirus, as well as last year’s Hurricane Dorian. The area is just opening up after the storm, and reports show that the area’s boating has been unscathed. “Tourism is huge in this area,” says Raul Bermudez, vice president of MarineMax’s charter division. “It is easy to get there and feels far away when you get out and explore. Our focus has been on the beauty of the islands. Of course…

our boats are like a floating self-sustained resort. They are equipped with generators, comfortable beds, water makers, air conditioning and more. It’s not like you’re stuck in one place. There’s fishing, snorkeling, diving, and of course, the beautiful beaches. People feel confident knowing they are safely distanced. You’re like your own little bubble moving around.” The government is allowing tourists to fly in starting Dec. 8, and requires a negative Covid test prior to arrival, and a second four days later, says Bermudez. It’s easy to see the allure of the stunning region just 50 miles off of Florida’s coast. A 120-mile-long chain of islands and cays form the Abacos — Great Abaco

Island and Little Abaco are the two main lands, and resorts, marinas, bars, and restaurants dot the coastline. Marsh Harbour, the third largest settlement in The Bahamas, has a lively downtown and amenities, and is home to Conch Inn Marina — the location of MarineMax Vacations vessels’ homeport in the region. Directly east of West Palm Beach, Treasure Cay is connected to Great Abaco Island and has two resorts — the Bahama Beach Club and Treasure Cay Beach Hotel, Marina & Golf Resort. Visitors to Elbow Cay and Green Turtle Cay can explore the strong influence of British Loyalists that fled the newly formed United States back in the mid-1700s. Hope Town in Elbow Cay, which was settled in 1785, boasts English

MarineMax.com

architecture that is unique to the chain of islands. as well as the iconic red and white striped Elbow Reef Lighthouse. Manjack Cay is an undeveloped island, with secluded, pristine beaches that offer white sands and turquoise waters. New Plymouth — Green Turtle Cay’s largest main settlement with a population of under 500 — is home to the Albert Lowe Museum, as well as the Loyalist Heritage Sculpture Garden. Green Turtle Cay offers world-class snorkeling and diving, and is close to No Name Cay, made famous for the swimming pigs. So what do first-time charterers need to know? New clients are typically shocked to learn that the per-person cost of a charter yacht vacation is either at — and sometimes even below — the cost of a packed cruise or resort vacation. It’s like taking an all-inclusive vacation and privatizing it for you and friends or family. Additional expenses include overnight moorings, dining ashore, ice, water and fuel. Experienced boaters can captain charter boats themselves once their expertise has been verified — however, many people who are new to chartering opt to have a captain and a cook so they

can fully relax while on their getaway. Maxwell’s Supermarket, which is located within five minutes of the Conche Inn Marina, is open and well stocked with all the desired provision. The weather in The Bahamas is similar to that of south Florida, so bring casual beachwear, as well as a solid pair of shoes; a passport is required to visit, as is passing through customs. People are increasingly seeking respite from the lingering pandemic, and chartering is becoming an option more people are looking at to escape. “Even with the restrictions, people still want to travel, and our fleet is a perfect way to do it.” says Bermudez.

NINETEEN

AND COUNTING From a Sears Boat-in-a-Box to a Galeon Sky Yacht. By Sue Rodman

M

arc Kushner’s love for boating started in the 1960’s with a $49 boat-in-a-box from Sears and Roebuck. Earlier this year, he and his wife Chris purchased a 2019 650 Galeon Sky christened the Light Hearted. “As a kid, dad and I would fish on the shore of Lake Greenwood in Trenton,” said Kushner. “While we seldom caught anything, the guys in boats would pull up fish-after-fish. We didn’t have a lot of money so when my dad saw the Sears

ad, he showed it to me and said – Look, we could get a boat. We spent the winter building it and that spring we were catching fish.” Since that first fishing boat, Kushner has purchased 19 crafts. He saw the Galeon, a European brand new in the United States, at the Fort Lauderdale boat show in October and was at the helm by February. The Light Hearted, like most of Kushner’s boats was purchased from MarineMax. “They treat me right,” he said.

“Marc and Chris have been a staple at our Marina for 31 years,” said Tim Ryan, the marina manager at MarineMax Brick. “He spends almost every weekend on the dock and is always willing to host a gathering or invite people on board. Marc’s heart is as big as his boat.” In September the couple took the party out to sea with an eight-day adventure to Newport with friends and fellow boaters Dan and Terri Balsamo. The Galeon is a very quiet and efficient cruising vessel. Twin Volvo engines mean a comfortable 25-knot cruising speed. The stand up engine room is one of the cleanest and most organized of any custom yacht. But the mechanical feature the Kushner’s appreciate most is the SeaKeeper. The gyro stabilizes the boat taking 85-90 percent of the roll out; a welcome quality on the first evening of their adventure when they encountered weather and four to six foot seas. “In Newport we had a great dock with a view of Bowen’s Wharf,” said Dan Balsamo. “We sat in the salon and watched the tour boats go by. They were sold out for a second night, but Marc sweet-talked the dock master into finding an open berth. The next evening we opened the top deck. The height of the bridge gave us amazing views of the mansions on the cliffs, and a gorgeous sunset.“

46

MarineMax Lifestyles

The retractable bridge is one of the most unique features of the 650 SKY. With a push of a button, a carbon fiber sunroof pulls back to reveal a helm, three sport seats and a sun pad—enough space to seat 10 comfortably. When not in use, the top deck can be closed off completely. The best parties always gather in the kitchen and it is no different on The Light Hearted. The gourmet galley on the Galeon is part of a well-appointed salon, which includes a helm, with adjustable,

diamond stitched, 12-position captain and first mate chairs, and dining area for eight. Large sweeping windows look out on the water. The layout ensures everyone can be part of the action. “You can enter the cockpit from both sides of the boat and it’s really open and airy. But best of all, we can all be together,” said Dan Balsamo. “One evening we put the Islander-Flyers game on the flat screen TV that slides up from the countertop.”

Five o’clock PM signals cocktail hour on the Light Hearted. While Balsamo mixes drinks of local Del’s lemonade and vodka, the girls activate the yacht’s beach mode with a push of a button. When engaged, two six-meter-long balconies extend on port and starboard sides adding 10 feet of entertainment space. Two convertible bar areas jet out over the water. Access into the galley is through a huge sliding glass serving window. Earth Wind and Fire’s Boogie Wonderland blares from the VIP fusion radios while Kushner cooks burgers on the Kenyon electric grill. When one of the foursome craved alone time, they walked through a revolutionary, electric front window entrance to the bow deck with two separate movable sofas and integrated foldable tables. The stern features a unique pool platform that lowers into the water. A retractable stairway makes access easy. “In the afternoons we put beach chairs on the lowered platform cooling our feet in the water,” said Kushner.

The Light Hearted has three richly appointed bedrooms finished in light beachwood, one of three wood options on the Galeon. Two luxurious masters offer tons of storage, walk in heads and tiled showers with rainwater showerheads. A third bedroom has two beds that can

covert to one larger sleeping area, as well as a private en suite head. Additional bunks are located in the crew quarters. The trip was such a success, Kushner and Balsamo began planning their next adventure while in New England.

Fly Guy Terry Clontz enjoys the heck out of the Azimut 50 Fly he keeps on Florida’s west coast. By Kevin Koenig

T

“The 50 Fly is a great boat.A few things were important to me, I wanted a big flybridge, and for a boat this size, the 50 Fly has a flybridge that is remarkable—especially the visibility, which is excellent.”

erry Clontz knows how to work and he knows how to play. The semi-retired telecommunications exec has spent much of the past decade traveling back and forth between the U.S. and Asia, and earning the time he now spends aboard his boats. Currently Clontz, a North Carolina native who migrated to Marco Island, Florida, has a Boston Whaler 330 Outrage and an Azimut 50 Fly. Says Clontz, “I used to be the CEO of a company in Singapore, but that was my last rodeo, now I figure it’s time to do some boating, both fishing and cruising.” Though he is an experienced fisherman and spends a good deal of time reeling in both game fish and meat fish in the Gulf of Mexico, cruising is a newer hobby for the businessman. But with the help of MarineMax (from whom he had purchased some of his earlier fishing boats) Clontz was able to find the perfect ride for gliding around the waters of Florida and the islands. “I never had a cruiser in the size range of the Azimut I have now,” says Clontz of his 52-foot, 9-inch motoryacht. “But I knew I was in the market for one. It took me about a year and a half to find the right boat. Diamond Neeley [a sales executive with MarineMax’s

office in Naples, Florida] was a great help in finding the boat. Interestingly enough, the boat I ended up buying, we found it in Wilmington, North Carolina, which is where I’m from. The 50 Fly is a great boat. A few things were important to me, I wanted a big flybridge, and for a boat this size, the 50 Fly has a flybridge that is remarkable—especially the visibility, which is excellent. Plus it was available with 670hp Volvo Penta straight shafts. There’s a lot of difficult water where I live, so I didn’t want pods. That was important to me too, I didn’t want to run aground with pods.” Clontz also loves the yacht’s master suite, which is located in the bow but has nice breadth to it thanks to the boat carrying its beam farther forward than some competitors. And he’s really been enjoying using the Azimut as well. Clontz has a large family, including five children, seven grandchildren, and a life partner named Rebecca. After purchasing his new Azimut from MarineMax, he took a gaggle of them down to Key West aboard his boat for a New Year’s vacation. “We had so much fun,” he says. “Some of us stayed aboard the boat and some stayed on land and it was great. I put rodholders on the Azimut

MarineMax.com MarineMax.com 49 49

and we went fishing! I’m not sure if anyone has ever done that with an Azimut. You just sit on the platform and you’re all set. We caught a bunch of mahi-mahi and a huge wahoo. We must have eaten that wahoo for days, fresh sashimi, fish tacos for lunch, it might have been the best seafood I’ve ever had.” Clontz clarifies who actually caught the gourmet Wahoo: “We’d have fishing contests within the family. We had a girls day and a guys day. And I’m happy to say the girls beat the guys. The girls were the ones who caught the wahoo. I think the girls are better ‘fishermen’ because they listen to understand, whereas the guys think they know everything already.” And Clontz thanks MarineMax for making it so easy to enjoy family fun. “When I lived in Wilmington growing up, we always had a boat,” he says, “and it seemed like we were always working on it as much as we were taking it out and enjoying it. That’s why I like MarineMax, they’re so responsive when I have a problem. They really are quick on the draw with servicing. And every time I’ve talked to Diamond about a new boat, he always has options ready to go. He really is well connected, and lucky for me, he’s also a very knowledgeable fisherman, so that’s a bonus.” Neeley expounds upon the MarineMax difference. “We spend a lot of time finding the right boat for the client,” he says. “This is where the relationship begins. Then,

after delivery orientation, we spend hours training our customers how to use the boat safely. Then with our MarineMaxsponsored Getaways!® and brand owner events, clients can experience exciting trips throughout Florida and The Bahamas in a safe group setting. We really try to make the clients’ experience as seamless as possible all the way through so they can get maximum enjoyment out of their boats. That’s just what we do here.” And if Clontz’s words and tone during our interview are any indication, MarineMax does its job quite well. He is very happy with his Azimut overall — it’s the perfect platform on which to play when his work is all done.

“Ducky’s Dinghy” Clontz’s other boat is a Boston Whaler 330 Outrage that he uses to fish, mostly in the Gulf of Mexico. “It’s one of the best fishing platforms I’ve ever had,” says Clontz, a seasoned fisherman. “We don’t usually get rough seas in the Gulf, but if it kicks up to 3-feet, the 330’s hull design is quite forgiving.” Clontz also found a pleasant surprise aboard his Outrage. “We use the dive door all the time. Not just for fishing or diving, but as an easy way to get on and off the boat.”

27E

THE EXPLORER How Ocean Alexander’s latest model is bringing adventure to you. By Allyson Goolsby

MarineMax Lifestyles Lifestyles 52 52MarineMax

I

t’s been a record year for Ocean Alexander as they have released three new models, all of which debuted at the 2020 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. Among these new models is the highly anticipated 27E, the first of the brand-new Explorer series. With 27 meters (88’6”) of pure luxury and maximized space for water toys, its innovative, collaborative design by Evan K. Marshall has captured the attention of the yachting industry world-wide. One of the most distinguishable features of the 27E is its multifunctional beach platform. If you’re looking for space for water toys or even just a way to fully enjoy the water, look no further than the

27E. The starboard, fold out bulwark expands the deck space and creates a dive platform of sorts and easy access to the water. The hydraulic swim platform can lower water toys up to 1,500 lbs directly into the water and create your personal beach experience skimming the surface of the ocean. For a larger tender, the 27E is fit with a crane that can lift up to 2,500 lbs into the water from anywhere on the platform, not just center-lined. With close to 300 square feet of aft deck space, this yacht is ideal for those who love to make the most of their time in the water. Stepping into the interior of the yacht, its striking, modern design is met with the functionality owners crave in a

yacht. The main salon is fit with massive windows that give unparalleled views and emphasize the open concept of the living and dining space. Just forward of the dining room is the stunning galley which can be closed off if you’re entertaining guests or kept open for everyday use. The galley is fit with gorgeous stone counters and flooring, stainless steel appliances and maximum storage for provisions. As you move below deck to the four staterooms, the amount of space and sheer volume is most notable and largely due to the vertical bow. The vertical bow expands living space without compromising the incomparable performance and efficiency Ocean Alexander is known for. It’s in

the forward VIP stateroom where the expanded space from the vertical bow is most noticeable. The queen-sized bed, private head and walk-in closet will leave your guests feeling like royalty. Moving aft, you’ll find two more staterooms with beds that can come together or apart in order to accommodate guests and each with their own private head. And finally, the impressive master stateroom boasts phenomenal views of its own with large windows that make the space feel open and inviting. The kingsized bed, two walk-in closets and the stone-clad master head are simply pure perfection. The skylounge houses the helm station, equipped with top-of-the-line touchscreen Garmin Navigation. With near 360-panoramic views, comfortable seating area and a bar, it is the perfect spot for entertaining guests. The outdoor space is fit with a jacuzzi, grill, bar, lounge areas and is sure to be the center of every party. The 27E is more than beauty and luxury. It’s power as well. The 27E’s twin MAN V12 1650HP engines and 2,186 gallon fuel capacity will take you where you want to go. Additionally, the draft of this yacht comes in at only 4 ft. 2in. making shallow waterways more accessible. Ocean Alexander continues to create, innovate and produce the highest quality yachts, as they have done for the last four decades. This is never more evident than in the debut of the 27E. The hope of the Explorer series is to encourage the freedom to explore. That being said, where will you explore next?

NAUTICAL FREEDOM It’s a state of mind. By Lisa Harrison

C

aptain Janet A. Urbanowicz discovered a love of boating in her 20’s. She started by canoeing and kayaking and then progressed into recreational boating. After going through school and spending 28-years as a Nurse, Captain Janet decided to “retire” and become a boat captain. Nautical Freedom, the title of her company, is affectionately named after how she feels when out on the water. With more than six professional years and thousands of hours of boating experience on her resume, Captain Janet provides safe and reliable Captain services to customers from Canada to the British Virgin Islands. Whether hired as a private captain or instructor, customer service is her focus. Training new boat owners to successfully and independently handle their new boat is a custom experience. “I have to credit MarineMax for a lot of the networking I’ve built over the years and for giving me a chance to get my feet wet, pun intended. The Brick, New Jersey area is surrounded by water. Barnegat Bay is a tremendous ecological resource with several rivers and access to the Atlantic Ocean. There’s so much to do out on the water - restaurants, marinas, music venues – you name it!” Captain Janet’s second career has taken her to unique places aboard spectacular vessels. From reliable Sea

Ray’s to well-built Galeon’s, she’s primed and ready to step aboard and take charge. The Azimut 77s is one of her favorite yachts to run because it’s dialed in and easy to maneuver. “I’ve been so fortunate to have a second career with such amazing customers along the eastern seaboard. I get to meet people from various backgrounds and learn about local culture. Every place that I’ve visited has been welcoming, helpful, and accommodating. I’m on a different boat every day. To climb aboard and immediately know it’s going to operate properly is amazing. The MarineMax team makes sure everything is safe, and all the proper equipment is on board.”

Based in Brick, New Jersey, Captain Janet holds multiple titles, including Ph.D., American Red Cross AED Certified, New Jersey State Police Boating Safety Instructor, Six Pack and Master’s Captain Course Instructor, Private Captain, and MarineMax Delivery Captain. Every boat purchased through MarineMax includes a one-on-one consultation with a Delivery Captain to ensure the new owner is up to speed with their investment. Anyone can drive in a straight line, but what about docking, tying lines, and stowing safety equipment properly? Docking is the focus of 90% of Captain Janet’s instruction. New technology, including bow thrusters and Seakeepers, have come a long way and help new boaters tremendously. But

docking can be intimidating, and it can vary with the change in winds, tides, and family dynamics. Yelling isn’t necessarily an essential part of the docking process. “Boating is very different than operating a car. There are no stop signs or lights to follow, which is why boating is very freeing. But along with that freedom comes accountability. I would encourage every new boater to have a continued desire to learn and spend a little time taking courses and learning basic foundational rules, regulations, and responsibilities that come with owning a vessel.” Hiring a captain to teach you how to use your vessel is essential for protecting your property and others, but also so you can have a good time. You bought a boat for a reason. A Captain can help translate what you want to do into what you ought to do. Everyone should have the foundational knowledge to allow them to have fun no matter the size boat. Remember that 18-footers can get in just as much trouble as a 60-footer. It doesn’t matter where you start. Just learn and always be open to continuing your education. “Women captains are less than 1% of all license holders in the United States. I learned that in Martha’s Vineyard from another woman captain. We’re a special breed. It’s such a liberating thing to do, especially if you love it enough to make it a livelihood.”

MarineMax Lifestyles

With the evolution and implementation of new technologies to keep customers, team members, business partners, and communities connected to the boating lifestyle, MarineMax is changing the way customers experience boating. We are bridging the gap between the store, the customer and online, making services and information available at any time and any place that customers desire.

Our goal is to provide an exceptional shopping experience, helping customers spend more time on the water and less time taking care of their boat. As we advance to continuing to do this even better day after day, month after month and year after year, we’ve launched the MarineMax App, My MarineMax Account and a unique online experience.

THE MARINEMAX APP

MY MARINEMAX ACCOUNT

A NEW ONLINE EXPERIENCE

The MarineMax App is designed with the customer in mind. With secure payment processing and access to 24/7 communication, customers can easily shop for a new boat, schedule service to take care of their current boat, and search for upcoming classes and Getaways!®, all from the comfort of their own home.

We also recently released an option for customers to create a profile on MarineMax.com and personalize their online shopping and exploring experience even further. The app and website are synched together by the use of a single login feature to make it even easier for boaters to transition from virtual shopper to owner!

As day to day life and in person events have changed throughout 2020, MarineMax has rapidly evolved to provided new services for customers to shop on their own terms – choosing from virtual and private appointments, online chat, immersive experiences for touring boats and more. With the launch of a new online platform in the fall of 2020, customers were able to take advantage of boat show savings and incentives from anywhere in the world. During these exclusive online events, shoppers can browse hundreds of boats and yachts for sale, engage with virtual one-on-one walkthroughs, chat online to get answers quickly, and place a deposit online to secure a boat from their local MarineMax store.

With the touch of a finger, boaters can easily connect with a local MarineMax store and order services for their boat – from routine maintenance, requesting a wash or fuel, to complete repair or upgrade projects. Customers will also find access to upcoming events and inventory. The digital platform was recently listed in Boating Industry’s Top Products for 2020, which celebrates innovative products and services that have hit the market within the last year, ranging from boats to engines to electronics and much more.

A My MarineMax Account allows users to create a profile, set website preferences, save favorite boats and yachts, save events interested in, view events signed up for and access a pre-filtered “similar boats” section. With more new features planned to roll out this summer, the MarineMax website is something to keep an eye on.
