CV - ABOUT ME - WORK EXPERIENCE
(FL) Writing Contributor: February’27, 2015 – PRESENT’
I am confident and have the ability to work well in a team. I am a keen learner and I am confident in conversing and working with people from different cultures: as in my opinion ‘excellent communication is the key in getting your message across to people’ – which is what fashion is. In the future, I hope to raise the popularity of Asian brands within the Western Industries, likewise with western brands within the Far Eastern industries. As well as, generating a creative platform both online and offline, which showcases upcoming design talents. With this, I hope to help people to build and grow their ideas into their own business.
Northumbria University, Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom
WORK EXPERIENCE:
My aim for working as an intern would be to observe experienced designers in their work as well as other fields of the fashion industry such as: Design, PR, Editing, Photography, Styling, Visualizing, Marketing and Embroidery. From acquiring skills in these areas, I can become more competent and independent in my work, therefore enhancing my own beliefs in fashion. In my spare time, I often organise events as well as designing and creating one-off dresses for special occassions (*look at my ‘Freelance Work’ section). I’m a frequent volunteer member during Filipino-British Events and a member of the ‘Sunderland Filipino Youth Volleyball Team’.

INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE
For this brief, I decided to do my research based on the Philippine Textile Industry since my heritage is from the Philippines. Along with this research, it can also help me gain more knowledge and understanding of my own heritage. To start me off, I looked at the different factors that influenced the Textile Industry of the country over the centuries: the Indigenous Tribes of the country, the Spanish & American Colonisation and the Agriculture Industry of the country. From these factors I then focused on the countrys’ famous fibres: Banana & Pineapple fibres, Abaca & Sinamay. Furthermore, I took inlfuence from the shape of the Pineapple fruit, leaves and fibres for ideas for Silhouettes, along with the shape of the farmers cotton shirts (that they wear when working in the fields). From these silhouettes, I have created a range of designs for Infantwear, Childrenswear & Womenswear. I then decided to go on to create a womenswear oversized-drop shoulder coat, which reflects the history of the country’s textile industry, from the oversize silhouette which is influenced by the farmers big movements when they are working in the fields, as well as using fabrics made from the Philippines and in Europe (which reflects how the country has been influenced by Western culture over the centuries).

BRAND & MESSAGE : ‘KRINSEL’ MAGAZINE
This is an overview of the group work magazine that we did for Brand & Message. “Our task is to produce a niche fashion publication that engages our audience. It should be something that is creative, alluring, informative and well produced.” On this page you can see the Front Cover of our Magazine, which I was in charge of creating. We’ve decided to make it look like a ‘scrapbook’ but with a magazine feel to it.
MAGAZINE OVERVIEW
I was also in charge of putting our magazine together, so here you can see the process of it and the problems we had with being able to read from ‘right to left’, instead of the usual read from left to right.

FASHION TREND RESEARCH - RESEARCH
Digital Flats that I did for a Fashion Trend Research, for my “Wings of Freedom” Trend. My theme is influenced by different types of feathers. Since I am confident with creating flats digitally, I decided to create a cashmere-like texture within my flat-works, by putting in tiny curved lines within the outlines of the flat designs.
