Marin Symphony’s 2 013 -14 exciting 61 st season breaks new ground — from movies to masterpieces — something for everyone. The essence of pure classical is kept alive and new holiday, family and pops concerts are brought to life. “Fun. Seriously.” — kicks off with Waterfront Pops on September 15 th featuring movie music classics by John Williams, continues with four Masterworks beginning with From Russia with Love on October 27 and 29. Spring Pops is the new season finale on June 8, 2 014, presenting Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl , live in concert — feature film with orchestra. Current subscribers receive priority when renewing their seats. Renewing early assures you get the best seats in the house months in advance of when new subscriptions are offered and single tickets go on sale. Van Cliburn Gold Medalist Jon Nakamatsu returns for Rachmaninoff’s Second Piano Concerto, a work overflowing with gorgeous melodies and jaw-dropping virtuosity. Shostakovich’s Fifth Symphony is an epic struggle that will have you on the edge of your seats right up to the end. Around the World with Disney features music from early classics to recent releases — taking audiences on a musical journey to far off places where the stories, tales and myths of many cultures originated. The program incorporates visuals and musical performances from Disney’s animated films including The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Mary Poppins, Tarzan and many others. This concert takes place in the Marin Center Veterans’ Memorial Auditorium.
