Updated 10/7/2021 Planning a get-together? When planning a get-together with other MWS families for a birthday, playdate or other event during the current COVID pandemic, it is important to think about the following: Wear face coverings (when indoors) Unless eating or drinking, participants should ALWAYS wear their masks indoors. No masks are required outdoors. Maintain distance Students should be 6 feet away from each other at all times when they have their masks off. Keep it outdoors Ventilation is key. Get-togethers are safest outside. If the party must be inside, consider eating outside or limiting eating time to less than 15 minutes. Keep it within the cohort (when indoors) If the party will be indoors, it is best to only invite students from your child’s class (ie, no siblings). Even though we have modified quarantine, it is best that fewer unvaccinated people attend in the event a covid positive person is identified as an attendant. Only those directly exposed to a COVID positive case are considered exposures, so fewer people in attendance means fewer exposures. Outdoor exposures are not considered close contacts so outdoor gatherings are not of concern. Think about how many students you feel comfortable managing If there are limited adults available to supervise, be cognizant of how many students you want to manage. It is difficult to make sure students keep masks on, stay distanced, and wash their hands. Keep it clean Have handwashing stations and/or hand sanitizer available. Have children sanitize their hands before and after eating or when touching high-touch surfaces. Keep it symptom free Make sure attendees are reminded that no one with symptoms of illness should attend. This includes runny nose, congestion, cough, fatigue, diarrhea, fever, and sore throat.
