The Process and Experiďż˝ ence Each client experience begins with a comprehensive pre consultation to discuss their session. Usually clients initially book a boudoir session with the intention of gifting a spouse or their significant other. However, they often find the experience to be one of unexpected empowerment and a greater gift to themselves. After a photography session with Marisa Leigh, you will leave emblazoned, brimming with a positive new perspective of yourself, along with tangible memories to serve as life time reminders of your experience.

ur dream team of hair, make-up artists, stylists and set designers happen to be editorial and commercials professionals of the highest caliber. The goal is to make our clients’ experience every bit as glamorous as that of supermodels or movie stars. You’ll get to enjoy our 5,500 sq.ft studio with customized sets according to your choice with many luxury amenities in our personalized packages. We can also do a boudoir party involving up to 6 people and can also travel to your preferred location if desired. Not one woman’s story is alike, therefore, each photo shoot, and the resulting images, are uniquely her own. There is a refreshing absence of cookie-cutter wardrobe, props and contrived “come hither” poses of traditional boudoir photography. Clients will also control how much skin they want to reveal, and that Marisa Leigh will capture them in their very best “un-self-conscious” light. She prides herself in being able to coax out the most attractive, graceful and sexy poses and reveal their best angles. A leotard or an off-the-shoulder oversized sweater can be just as sexy as a bustier or a garter belt. A little bit of lace can be far more alluring that total nudity. Upcoming Boudoir Session
Do Bring Extra...Everything. You
want to do this right, and every detail should be perfect. If you’re investing time and money into your boudoir session, the last thing you want is to have a rip in your lace corset or a run in your stockings the day of your shoot. If you have a backup, you can switch, and save the session. Although artistically “distressed” articles can look good in a photo, for most of us, unseemly rips (especially in certain areas) are the last thing that we want. Also, make sure to bring some makeup along with you, especially if you’re doing the process sans stylist or makeup artist. During the shoot, you’ll want to touch up the look so that you stay looking fresh and glamorous.

Do Spend Time Trying On and Testing Outfits. It’s no secret that
our bodies change over time, we gain weight, we lose weight, we have children, we spend more time at the gym. Some things that used to look great on us just won’t anymore, and some things that we couldn’t quite fit into we will rock now. Also, clothes that have been in the closet or in the drawer for a while, depending on the material, will change with time – thanks to humidity and gravity and us not wearing them. So, if you bring an outfit for your session that you used to love but haven’t worn in a while, you might be in for a surprise. Instead of dealing with these potential “whoops” moments, take the time to try on any and all potential outfits. The more you have to bring the better, because options are always
good, but you don’t want to make the mistake of bringing a lot of things that aren’t right for you. The day of your shoot, you want to feel confident, sexy, on top of the world. So bring those outfits. And if your closet doesn’t bring that va-va-voom you’re looking for, maybe it’s time to go shopping. You never need an excuse to go shopping, but it’s nice to have one. Your upcoming Boudoir session is definitely an excuse.

Do Rock Clothes that are Right for Your Body. Everybody’s different,
and everybody is beautiful. Wear the clothes that you not only feel confident in, but accent your incredible body. If you’re on a thinner side and want some curves, wear brighter colors and horizontal lines, there are so many decadent varieties of bra/panty combos that you’ll want for nothing in your quest for fabulousness. If you’re on the curvier side and want to add some balance, try super-slimming fishnet stockings. Not certain how to dress your body the right way? Ask your boudoir photographer, they’ll have tons more tips for you as well, as they will know what will look great and what not so great.

Don’t Fake Tan. No sprays, no
gels, no lotions. If you want a natural sun-kissed glow, and if you’re lucky enough to live in or near L.A. head to the beach, get it the right way (but don’t forget to wear sunscreen, SPF 15 or more, and watch out for those ghastly tan lines!), or, even better, book some sessions in a professional salon that has tanning beds, and do it in the nude (no unsightly lines this way). The last thing you want is to a) look like a sexy pumpkin or b) pay more than you have to in retouching fees.

Do Touch Up the Basics. If you
dye your hair, get your hair done the week of your Boudoir Session. Shave everything, the day of if possible, and spring for a mani-pedi. You’d be amazed how these
little details can make or break a photo session. These pictures are going to be around for a while, reminding you of just how awesome you look, don’t skimp the small stuff. Grooming Grooming Grooming! Fingers, toes, and other things oh my oh my! Make sure if it’s going to show it’s are ready to go! These photographs are going to be with you for the rest of your life, you’ll want to look your absolute best.

Don’t Think all “Boudoir Photographers” Are Made Equal.
Do your research! Take advantage of free consultations, read reviews and testimonials, scour through online galleries and portfolios. Don’t be fooled into thinking that just because someone says they know what they’re doing and they happen to fit the right “price range” that they’re offering a quality experience. This is often a once in a lifetime event, and you should do it the right way. Choose someone who is talented, professional, trustworthy, someone whose style you actually love. And keep in mind that you will usually get exactly what you pay for. It’s an investment, give it the attention it deserves.

Can you make me look like the “models” on your site? Most of the women I work with aren’t professional models. This includes the photos on the website. These women are real people -- mothers, daughters, wives, fiancées, girlfriends, etc. -- with dreams and insecurities, just like you and me, and every one of them is beautiful and unique. Boudoir photography is designed to bring out the best side of you, so that you look fabulous in your photographs.
Q:
Can you make me look twenty pounds lighter in a sexy boudoir photography shoot? Am I able to make you look twenty pounds lighter in your boudoir shoot? The honest answer is yes, I can. As a professional photographer, I know how to pose and which lighting to use to make you to look your best. I have been retouching photos for more than a decade, so I have a few tricks up my sleeve, but I am a firm believer in the natural beauty of women, and I am convinced that your dress size has nothing to do with how attractive or sexy you can be.
With that in mind, I retouch the photos in a way that only enhances them. I have been shooting fashion and editorial work for years, so I'm not going to lie, I LOVE retouching! Every photo needs some retouching, and every photo we see on the newsstands and in the magazines has been retouched. Retouching can do amazing things. Yes, it can be abused, but I don't believe I am guilty of that. Seeing as we compare ourselves to who we see every day and are somehow convinced that we can't look like that, I am here to show you, YOU CAN! It's time to level the playing fields and show you that with the right photographer, lighting, equipment and tools you can be just as glamorous. How far in advance do I need to book a boudoir appointment? The sooner the better. Usually a minimum of 2-3 weeks before your chosen date is optimal, and weekends fill up faster than weekdays. Keep this in mind if you are giving this as a gift. It can take up to six weeks to get your album or image box.
Q: I am a plus size woman and all the
girls on your website look skinny. Can you work with me? Of course! Just because
my samples may not seem to be very diverse, I work will all woman regardless of dress size.

Policies TWO WEEK ARCHIVAL 1 ) All in person viewing appointments must be completed within four weeks of the date of the session. If you exceed this time period, image archival is necessary to backup and store your portraits for safe keeping. The monthly fee is $200. 2) After the date of your viewing appointment we preserve your images for a short-term of two weeks maximum. On the 1st and 15th of every month we purge all studio images.
FRAGILE HEIRLOOMS Please understand the delicate nature of our commissioned custom portraits, albums and boxes. We ask that you take great care transporting our products and portraits framed or unframed. There is a considerable risk of possible damage. Once your products and portraits leave
Marisa Leigh Studios any damage that occurs from the time they leave is your full responsibility. If any products or portraits framed or unframed leave the studio and need replacement, please note there is a full price due on any replacement products or portraits. We ask that you thoroughly review your finished products and portraits and confirm that they are free of any defects thereby releasing Marisa Leigh Photography of any further responsibility.
CANCELLATIONS Customer service is our priority. In order to serve all our clients, our cancellation policy is simple: If the appropriate 7 days notice is not given to reschedule or cancel your photo shoot, you will be billed the full value of that appointment. This charge is a minimum of $150. We occasionally make exceptions on an emergency (i.e. sudden onset illness) basis only.

However, we are busy too (that’s a good thing!) and managing our appointment calendar is an exhausting and neverending project. • We appreciate your cooperation, assistance and understanding with our cancellation and rescheduling policies.
WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER YOUR SESSION After you session, we will make a date to view your photos. This takes place in our studio in approximately 2 weeks.
VIEWING APPOINTMENT We recommend you take a quick photo of the walls you envision hanging your portrait on and bring this to their viewing appointment. During your appointment, we’ll gladly help you narrow down the perfect selections. We serve hors d’oeuvres & beverages during your private screening.
After your slideshow we will select your final portraits and go over sizes and groupings that will look beautiful on your walls. We will place your order and answer any questions you might have at that time. Anyone who will be significant during your purchase decisions should come with you at this time. *Don’t forget to ask about our fabulous easy payment program as well! We typically decide before the sales session which portraits would have the best potential as a fine art wall portrait. We will show several beautiful fine art portrait samples to clients during the viewing appointment. This explains what their portraits could potentially look like and it usually illustrates the idea quite well. If you need to make any adjustments for your in person viewing appointment day and time we require that any changes be made at least 24 hours in advance of your appointment. Otherwise the fee to reschedule your appointment is $75.
INVESTMENT This luxurious experience is different for each client. Our a la carte menu allows you to select
whatever products you would like for your home. All portraits are printed on the highest quality archival photographic fine art paper. Our portraits are mounted for maximum durability and protection. Exclusive to Marisa Leigh Photography is our Print Boxes, wood prints and calendars. These our our clients’ favorites. For a more modern or contemporary look we now offer custom Gallery-Wrapped Canvas prints, Fine Art and Metal Prints
WHAT TO EXPECT THE PRE-CONSULTATION We like to hear what you are envisioning and learn more about who you are so we can plan the session of your dreams. The pre-consultation serves a two-way purpose; we get to know you intimately beforehand to effectively plan a shoot and you get excited about our session together. It puts you at ease before the shoot as you will have a pre-established connection with us and know what to expect. As a result of our pre-consultations, we’ve found ourselves planning era-inspired sessions of the 1920s, 30s, 40s, or 1980s. Some sessions are
based on specific milestones, like one client’s 50th birthday where we planned a “past present and future” theme incorporating various themes of her life. Other clients find art as a healing mechanism, to recover from the death of a loved one, a double mastectomy or to regain confidence after a divorce or breakup. And yet other times, our sessions are to mark a celebration, such as remission from breast cancer, bachelorette parties or a special anniversary. We plan Ladies Day of Glamour, a fashion-inspired day where we served lunch, champagne. No matter what type of session, your have with us, it is about comfort, fun and luxury. We furnish you with everything you need to relish in your beauty, which includes in-house stylists, delicious hors deurves, chocolates, champagne, an in house wardrobe to peruse, or our concierge-approach to designer gown rentals. And don’t worry, we’II talk about what to wear and what not to wear during our call.
