A.P. MOLLER HOLDING ACQUIRES MAERSK TANKERS A.P. Moller - Maersk has sold Maersk Tankers to A.P. Moller Holding for 1,2 billion dollars in cash. The transaction entails a market upside provision regulating total payment should the product tanker market significantly improve with a rebound in vessel values before the end of 2019.
M
aersk Tankers has been a part of A.P. Moller - Maersk since 1928 and is one of the largest product tanker companies in the world, transporting refined oil products globally and employing 3,100 people. The fleet consists of 161 product tanker vessels, whereof Maersk Tankers owns 80, across four segments; Intermediate, Handy, Medium Range and Long Range 2. The company will continue trading as “Maersk Tankers”, using the A.P. Moller - Maersk seven-pointed starlogo as part of its brand. - Maersk Tankers has served A.P. Moller - Maersk well for almost a century, building an industry leading position within the product tanker market. As former CEO of Maersk Tankers for more than 10 years, I recognise the importance of having an owner with a long-term market view in this industry, and this is why I am pleased that Maersk Tankers can continue to build on its strong name and position under A.P. Moller Holding, says Søren Skou, CEO of A.P. Moller – Maersk- Having determined the future ownership of Maersk Tankers, we have taken yet an important step in our strategy to free up resources

other potential partners, in which A.P. Moller Holding will be majority shareholder.
The sale of Maersk Tankers is the second transaction as part of the strategy to separate the oil and oil related activities from A.P. Moller - Maersk. In doing so, finding structural solutions constituting the most optimal development opportunities for the capabilities and assets built in the individual energy companies.
- We look forward to becoming a part of A.P. Moller Holding under which we will continue to strengthen our third-party services and commercial performance, building on our position as digital frontrunner in the industry. This will benefit our customers, partners and owner, says Christian M. Ingerslev, CEO of Maersk Tankers.
- In determining the best future ownership for Maersk Tankers, it has been imperative for us to assure a financially solid owner with industry insight and a long-term view on the inherent cyclical nature of the tanker industry. This will secure that Maersk Tankers can continue to take advantage of market opportunities, as well as uphold the capabilities and the organisation on which Maersk Tankers global leading market position is built, says Claus V. Hemmingsen, Vice CEO of A.P. Moller - Maersk and CEO of the Energy division. A.P. Moller Holding has announced that the company will establish an ownership consortium for Maersk Tankers’ fleet with the leading global trading company Mitsui & Co. Ltd. and

A.P. Moller Holding takes over Maersk Tankers entire organisation, portfolio and obligations. As part of the agreement, A.P. Moller Holding assumes all outstanding capital commitments of Maersk Tankers’ fleet renewal programme. As the transaction is between related parties, fairness opinions have been obtained from Morgan Stanley & Co. Int. Plc. and DNB Bank ASA. The conclusions from these fairness opinions confirm that the transaction value including the agreed price adjustment mechanism is fair from a financial point of view. Structural solutions for the remaining companies under the Energy division, Maersk Drilling and Maersk Supply Service, remain to be defined before the end of 2018.

DAILY NEWS ON WWW.MARITIMEDENMARK.DK
7 JULY 2017 - MORNING: We are underway from Houston, USA, to Cyprus with a load of jet fuel. It is a beautiful morning. The sky is clear, there is no wind, the sea is smooth with stunning blue water. The morning routines have been completed, and everything seems to indicate that it is going to be another peaceful day out at sea for Nord Nightingale and the vessel’s crew. And in case, then the swimming pool is ready for those who would like to take a swim… AT 12.08: The second officer reports that we have received a distress message from the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) in Florida, which has received distress signals from some yachtsmen in the Atlantic east of Florida. I immediately go to the bridge and find out that we may be the vessel closest to the distress position. As I must do according to procedures, I inform all relevant parties via email and telephone Norden, Norient Product Pool and the vessel’s technical manager Thome - about the deviation from the route we are going to undertake and the reason why. Then I contact the MRCC in Florida and report our position and our intention to participate in the rescue operation. As agreed with the rescue centre, we immediately set the course for the distress position – and at full speed. At the same time, rescue planes are taking off from bases in Florida. The distance from Florida to the distress position is approximately 550 nautical miles. We are only approximately 55 nautical miles, and it is therefore confirmed by the MRCC that Nord Nightingale is the vessel closest to the distressed yachtsmen. AT 12.48: The MRRC reports that the distressed are 2 people who are floating in an orange life raft,
after they have abandoned their sailing boat because of a fire on board. One of them has suffered burns to an unknown degree. Both are German – father and son. We are being told that the yachtsmen’s emergency transmitter has been attached to the life raft and continues to send out signals about the position of the raft. I also call Centro Internazionale Radio Medico (CIRM) and brief them about the situation and ask them to be ready to offer medical assistance. They respond right away that they are ready to help. AT 13.40: The crew is gathered on the bridge to prepare for the rescue operation. We have a lot of young seamen on board. After a short run-through of the situation, I notice their high level of involvement. I explain to each one of them what he must do and how he must do it. We must start by keeping a good lookout until we spot the distressed yachtsmen and can start the rescue operation. I instruct the chief officer on how he must control the crew members he is in charge of, and on how he must be able to adjust or change the plans at any given time – depending on what the situation demands and depending on what orders he receives from me. I stress the importance of reporting back at all times in a situation like this. AT 14.30: The second officer reports of a floating white object with orange marks in the water on the port side of Nord Nightingale. The vessel’s speed and direction is adjusted to investigate the object. AT 14.50: We establish that the object is the front of a sailing boat turned upside down. We inform the MRCC, send them a picture of the shipwreck and continue towards the distress position reported.
FACTS Nord Nightingale’s hird rescue operation The rescue operation on 7-8 July in the Atlantic east of Florida in the USA was Nord Nightingale third rescue operation. The Handysize vessel with a cargo capacity of 38,500 tonnes is owned by Norden and commercially operated by Norient Product Pool, while Thome is technical manager. The first time the product tanker assisted in saving human lives was on 22 March 2010, when she was on her way from Yokohama in Japan to Los Angeles in the USA. In the middle of the Pacific, the vessel rescued 2 men from a yacht who had been surprised by a severe storm during a race from China to California. On 22 October 2012, Nord Nightingale carried out her second rescue operation, when, on her way from Primorsk in Russia to Belfast in Northern Ireland, she rescued 19 people from a helicopter which had been forced to make an emergency landing. Maybe soon the vessel will be entitled to be renamed Florence Nightingale after the world- famous compassionate English nursing reformer.
The 2 rescued German yachtsmen ready to be taken on board Nord Nightingale. The son suffered serious burns on his legs, but is now recovering at home in Germany. Following the incident, the rescued yachtsmen have expressed their gratitude for the rescue operation towards Nord Nightingale’s and towards Norden.

AT 16.15: The MRCC sends us an update on the rescue operation they are planning. We will be assisted by an airborne rescue team consisting of 5 parachutists, of which one is a doctor. They will also drop a lifeboat which will be able to assist. AT 17.06: We spot an orange life raft at the position we have been given by the MRCC. When we get closer, we see a plane which drops parachutists into the sea. AT 18.20: Nord Nightingal’s man overboard boat is lowered onto the water and sails to the distressed yachtsmen’s life raft. The doctor from the American rescue team provides first aid to the yachtsman who has suffered burns.

He is then transferred to the man overboard boat. Then follows the other yachtsman. The man overboard boat sails to Nord Nightingale to bring the rescued yachtsmen and the doctor on board the vessel. AT 19.20: The burned yachtsman is transferred to the vessel’s hospital, where the doctor continues to treat him. AT 22.36: Everyone from the American rescue team as well as their boat are now on board Nord Nightingale. We set course for the coast of Florida to meet with helicopters which will pick up the yachtsmen and the rescue team. 8 JULY AT 00.48: 2 helicopters arrive at Nord Nightingale.

DANISH MARITIME TECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE The main conference is, as mentioned, the Danish Maritime Technology Conference, which will take place on May 2-3 at Lokomotivværkstedet. In addition, the Media Group Maritime Denmark is planning to initiate a maritime conference on its own - for the first time ever. Finally, the venue - Lokomotivværkstedet - will be hosting as many Danish Maritime Days events as possible. The goal is to make it easier for visitors to get from one arrangement to another - and also reducing the risk of overlapping events.

DANISH MARITIME DAYS BACK IN 2018 17 stakeholders from all parts of The Blue Denmark participated in the first platform meeting regarding the next Danish Maritime Days - which will take place on May 1 - 4 May 2018. The platform meeting was hosted by Danish Maritime in Copenhagen.
-It will be a somewhat different version of the Danish Maritime Days we will experience in May next year, said Cecilie Lykkegaard, Deputy Director of Danske Maritime, and Project Manager for the Danish Maritime Days 2018. - The Danish Maritime Forum has become the Global Maritime Forum, and is no longer part of the Danish Maritime Days. Of course, that will make a difference, said Cecilie Lykkegaard. The three partners behind the Danish Maritime Days: Danish Maritime, Danish Shipping and the Danish Maritime Authority, however believe, that the Danish Maritime Days concept - with or without the Forum - is strong enough to carry on.
GREAT INTEREST Quite a number of stakeholders indicated, that they want to contribute with events during the next edition of the Danish Maritime Days. Most events are still at a very early stage, but the submissions indicate that the Danish Maritime Days 2018 will be very comprehensive. DANISH MARITIME FAIR It is assumed that the Danish Maritime Fair will be the largest of the events that will take place during the Danish Maritime Days. Therefore, the Media Group Maritime Denmark, which owns the Danish Maritime Fair, was present to inform about the plans for the Danish Maritime Fair - including the possibility of completing Danish Maritime Days events at LokomotivvĂŚrkstedet, the exhibition hall
in Copenhagen where the Danish Maritime Fair will take place again next year. - We will be happy to host as many Danish Maritime Days events as possible at LokomotivvĂŚrkstedet, says Martin Uhlenfeldt, Partner at the Media Group Maritime Denmark. - A greater coherence between the individual events has been frequently wished for, at the first three editions of the Danish Maritime Days, says Martin Uhlenfeldt - Not to limit the plurality of events, but to make it easier for participants to get from one arrangement to another. EVERY TWO YEARS It is the intention that the Danish Maritime Days going forward, will be held every two years, and its planning will rotate between the three partners.

HOW TO BUY A SECONDHAND Norden purchases and sells vessels. Norden goes through a long process before the contract is signed. This is the story of what took place before Norden could take possession of 2 secondhand MR product tankers on 1 August and 10 August, respectively, and place them in commercial management in Norient Product Pool.
T
he purchase of the 2 MR vessels Nord Pearl and Nord Integrity was made in continuation of the authority granted to the Executive Management by the Board of Directors to expand the fleet of product tankers of the MR type. The authority allows Asset Management – who has the day-to-day responsibility for purchase/selling and chartering in/out of vessels – to initiate the process by finding a vessel, having its condition assessed and described by the Technical Department and negotiating a contract. Asset Management permanently scans the markets in the search for relevant opportunities to optimize NORDEN’s fleet – both in the shape of newbuildings and secondhand tonnage.
danish maritime magazine
/ PAGE 14
In parallel with declining rates in 2016-17 in the tanker market - including the product tanker market, where Norden operates its MR and Handysize fleet - the price of newbuildings as well as secondhand tonnage also declined. On the basis of Norden’s required return on new investments, the Asset Management team assessed that it was sufficiently attractive to invest in secondhand tonnage, which in terms of price, age and technical specifications meet Norden’s standards. A GOOD STARTING POINT - Nordens’s tanker fleet is commercially operated by Norient Product Pool where we based on our trading history form a good foundation for earnings estimates which we apply in the specific business cases. In
DAILY NEWS ON WWW.MARITIMEDENMARK.DK
its time of existence, Norient Product Pool has generated solid results even in declining markets - usually even above the levels obtained by our competition. This reinforces our confidence in our operating budgets and we are consequently able to act with greater accuracy in respect to the return estimates, says Senior Projects Manager Mads Pilgaard who has been responsible for the 2 purchases. - When we explore the market opportunities, we typically involve brokers who assist us in our work to search for vessels that meet our age and specifications requirements. The supply of relevant purchase candidates varies in line the price level development. In this specific case, the price of secondhand tonnage had reached a level where only few owners were interested in selling, says Mads Pilgaard.
PRODUCT TANKER VESSEL BUILT IN SOUTH KOREA Nevertheless, several candidates were in play. The most obvious one was a vessel delivered from a South Korean yard in 2009. - We asked our colleagues in the Technical Department to assist us with a vessel inspection as well as an assessment of its maintenance condition and operational challenges if any. The inspection took place in India and the result was positive, says Mads Pilgaard. Based on the technical assessment, Asset Management decided to make an offer on the vessel and thereby start purchase negotiations with the owners through a broker. - These negotiations do not only revolve around price. Considerations as to the vessel’s position at delivery and time of delivery are also negotiated. Furthermore, it is important that the vessel will be ready for inspection by one of the oil majors as soon as possible after delivery, in order for them to grant the vessel their safety approval – this is called vetting. A vessel loses its approvals when the technical management
is discontinued, and until the new safety approval is obtained, the commercial manager will typically be forced to accept a rate discount compared to vessels which have the required approvals in place. For that reason, we have a commercial interest in quickly obtaining safety approvals, says Mads Pilgaard. In this case, the process went smoothly and the contract was signed. DELIVERED IN CHINA On Tuesday 1 August, the vessel was delivered. This took place in Qingdao in China and the
vessel will be part of Norden’s fleet with the name Nord Pearl. - In connection with a vessel purchase, future crew members are typically allowed on board the vessel during the last voyage(s) before delivery, this was also the case on the purchase of the Nord Pearl. The purpose is to ensure that the condition of the vessel is not essentially different on the day of delivery than when it was inspected, and that the vessel is operational immediately following takeover. On the day of delivery, a diving inspection of the vessel’s hull, propeller and

THE OTHER NEW ACQUISITION Norden’s other newly acquired MR vessel is Nord Integrity, which was delivered from a Japanese yard in 2010. - In contrast to the purchase of Nord Pearl, we already knew the vessel and its Japanese owners as we have had the vessel on time charter since the delivery from the yard in 2010. MR tankers. And they are purchased at satisfactory prices, says Mads Pilgaard.
However, since the vessel has not been in technical management by Norden - the Japanese owners took care of that - Norden did not have all the details of the vessel’s technical condition. Before the purchase negotiations were initiated, the vessel was consequently assessed by the Technical Department. The procedures in connection with the delivery - which took place in Vlissingen in the Netherlands - followed the standard with a short stay on board and diving inspection before delivery.
With an age of 7 and 8 years, respectively, they will be able to continue to serve Norden for many years to come.

The vessels have a life expectancy of 20- 25 years, but Norden does not tend to operate vessels which are more than 15 years old. The average age of Norden’s product tankers is low – for MR vessels it is 4.3 years and for Handysize vessels it is 8.3 years.

IF YOU NEED IT... WE HAVE IT!
24/7
PROFILE
MARITIME SHIP SUPPLY - YOUR SHIP SUPPLIER It is only 10 months since Maritime Ship Supply, a Danish full-line ship supplier, welcomed its first customers in Frederikshavn - a port city centrally located at the Entrance to the Baltic Sea. The company has been a success from Day One. Less than a month after the opening it was already clear, that the number of customers was growing so fast, that the first warehouse was too small and additional storage capacity had to be added. On August 1, Maritime Ship Supply took over the local competitor Skibshandler Damsgaard. As a part of the takeover, MSS gained a large office building and a total of 1,500 m2 storage capacity. The renovated premises at Langerak 45 in Frederikshavn are now in service. Together with Maritime Ship Supply’s top professional employees, it will provide customers with even better service in the future. Do you think there will be more acquisitions? - I’m sure there will. I have already looked at two more - one in Norway and one in Great Britain - that could be interesting, says Poul-Ole Damgaard Jensen, CEO and owner of Maritime Ship Supply. - My best guess is, that we will buy or enter closer cooperation with 1 or 2 new companies every year. But it will happen at a pace that ensures, that we keep focus on servicing our customers as good as possible, says Poul-Ole Damgaard Jensen. What is the goal? - I believe that we will become Denmark’s second largest ship supplier. In 1-2 years from now only Wrist will be bigger than us. We have a very good niche - taking care of the smaller shipping companies. THE MAN IN FRONT Poul-Ole Damgaard Jensen is the driving force behind the success. The 44-year-old Dane has 25 years of experience from several industries, and a wide network - both locally and internationally. - I saw there was a niche in the market here in
North Jutland. I worked for Vestergaard Marine Service and suggested them to enter, but they didn’t think it would fit into their business. That’s why I started by myself, says Poul-Ole Damgaard Jensen. The rationale behind the success concept is both simple and effective: If you need it we have it 24/7 - also on holidays and public holidays. - We never know when the ships arrive. Therefore, it is important for the ships to know, that we are there for them - whenever they need us. We are there for the sake of our customers, they’re not there for our sake, says Damgaard Jensen. CORE VALUES The core values are: co-operation, flexibility, service and reliability of supply 24/7. - We are the smaller shipping companies extended purchasing department. We help them find all the things they need. For example, there was a ship that asked if we could get a mixer for a faucet. We sent a man into town to buy one. That is how we make a difference - we don’t know the word ‘no’ in this company. Jokingly, I told the staff that ‘no’ is a word we only use if the wife is calling and asks, if we are going to be home soon, says Poul-Ole Damgaard Jensen with a big smile. - There are many ship suppliers in Denmark who supply food, and some where you can get technical articles - but no food. And then there’s us - we deliver both. At Maritime Ship Supply customers get a different focus than they do at the big suppliers. And that’s what people really like, says Damgaard Jensen. - I have talked a lot with people within the industry, and they say that the company that resembles us most is situated in Hamburg. And that’s quit far away.
MANY NEW EMPLOYEES Following the acquisition of the local competitor and further employment, the number of employees now has reached 18, a figure that is expected to increase further before the end of the year. - Many of the people we have employed are people I’ve picked. Growing as fast as we do, it’s hard to get time to train new people. It’s much better to recruit talented people from elsewhere, explains Poul-Ole Damgaard Jensen. Maritime Ship Supply can deliver 1,000,000 product numbers within 72 hours and 400,000 part numbers within 24 hours. 74.000 are IMPA & ISSA registered. - I have been a purchaser for quite a few years, and it’s the knowledge from there I’ve taken advantage of. So, we have entered agreements with a wide range of suppliers with focus on, that we get the goods quickly and that delivery security is high. - One of the company’s we work closely with is Sanistål. There I can order until 18.00 hours, and then I will have the order between 3 - 5 in the morning. This means, that the 64,000 product numbers Sanistål has in stock, in reality also is in our stock. MANY COUNTRIES Which countries operate Maritime Ship Supply in? - Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Great Britain, Germany, Iceland, Faroe Islands, Greenland - and recently Uruguay also joined the list. We have reached an agreement with Cruise Management International in Florida which operates 11 cruise ships. In the summer, they sail around Greenland, Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Northern Norway and Svalbard. At this time of the year they are heading south - operating from the Falklands and down southwards throughout the winter. One of the ships we supply has a
stopover in Uruguay, therefore we send the supplies there. Shipping costs are the same, if they are delivered from USA or Frederikshavn - and we are cheaper. MANY FAIRS Contributing to the rapid growth in Maritime Ship Supply is the fact, that the company participate in as many relevant fairs as possible. Like the Nor-Shipping fair in Oslo and the Seatrade fairs in Hamburg and Fort Lauderdale. - We get a lot of contacts at fairs, says Poul-Ole Damgaard Jensen. FAMILY BUSINESS It has been busy, very busy, the last year. Nevertheless, Poul-Ole Damgaard Jensen sees his family almost every day … at work. - I’m married to Line, who is also working here, and we have two kids - boys aged 11 and 13. My oldest boy comes to work here a couple of times a week, my cousin is the warehouse manager - and my father is employed as a buyer. So, we are almost a family business, Damgaard Jensen adds with a big smile. - I hardly have any leisure time, but I used to play football. Right now, I guess, I’m mostly married to my work.

- We have a fleet of eight self-relocating freight ships that typically sail in northern European waters. We often come to North Jutland, and that’s how we’ve encountered Maritime Ship Supply, says Anfinn Højgaard.
- As far as the price is concerned, they are also reasonable. But even more important, they have a large product range and they deliver things on time.

DONG ENERGY IS BECOMING ØRSTED Following the profound strategic transformation from black to green energy and the recent divestment of the upstream oil and gas production, DONG Energy believe that the name DONG Energy does not fit the company anymore.
- DONG was originally short for Danish Oil and Natural Gas. With our profound strategic transformation and the divestment of our upstream oil and gas business, this is no longer who we are. Therefore, now is the right time to change our name, syas Thomas Thune Andersen, Chairman of the Board of Directors.
- Our vision is a world that runs entirely on green energy. Climate change is one of the most serious challenges facing the world today, and to avoid causing serious harm to the global ecosystems, we need to fundamentally change the way we power the world by switching from black to green energy, Thomas Thune Andersen syas.
H.C. ØRSTED Hans Christian Ørsted was born in Rudkøbing in Southern Denmark in 1777, becoming a professor in pharmacology in 1806. H.C. Ørsted›s tireless pursuit of answers led him to discover electromagnetism in 1820. His ground-breaking discovery helped pave the way for numerous technological advances, among them being electronic power production. Throughout his life, H.C. Ørsted became an important figurehead within not only physics, but also within philosophy, poetry and aesthetics, establishing the Royal Danish Polytechnic Institute (today known as Technical University of Denmark, DTU), becoming its first director in 1829. Ørsted helped establish the world we know today, and his curiosity, dedication and interest in nature is exactly what we all need to embody to create a world that runs entirely on green energy. He was married to Inger Birgitte Ballum. They had seven children. H.C. Ørsted died in 1851 at the age of 73. He is buried in Copenhagen at Assistens Cemetery.

RENEWABLE ENERGY Over the past decade, DONG Energy has transformed itself from an energy company based on coal and oil to a global leader in renewable energy. The company has increased earnings considerably, while reducing the use of coal in its power stations and building out new
offshore wind farms (see below). Since 2006, carbon emissions have been reduced by 52%, and by 2023, they will have been reduced by 96% compared to 2006. - Today, we’re dedicated to green energy. Our focus going forward will be on green growth based on our existing business platforms in offshore wind, biomass, green customer solutions and advanced waste-to-energy solutions. We’ll also explore new green growth opportunities to strengthening our existing platform, if they support our vision, provide a strong competitive position and create value for our shareholders, says Henrik Poulsen, CEO of DONG Energy. NEW ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES DONG Energy has divested its upstream oil and gas business and decided to stop all use of coal. In addition, the company has established a new storage team to explore new business
opportunities in energy storage. DONG Energy has also established a new corporate ventures unit in Silicon Valley, California, to explore emerging energy technologies and potential long-term business opportunities.
lay the scientific foundation for how today’s societies are powered. NEW LOGO AND BRAND IDENTITY As part of becoming Ørsted, a new logo and brand identity will be introduced. The new brand identity is inspired by the Danish design tradition in being simple, functional and human and supporting a sustainable way of life. The brand identity will consist of a full spectrum of colours, inspired by Scandinavian nature and the Danish 20th century artist Vilhelm Lundstrøm.
As battery storage and new energy technologies mature and as a more flexible demand side is developed, natural gas will, in the coming years, continue to support the transition to an entirely green energy system. DONG Energy will continue to trade in and sell natural gas to its customers, facilitating the bridge to a world that runs entirely on green energy.
- We’ve undertaken significant efforts to find the right name and brand identity for our company. Our new name recognises H.C. Ørsted’s curiosity, dedication and interest in nature and our brand identity speaks to the innovation and profound understanding of nature, which is vital to creating a world that runs entirely on green energy, Henrik Poulsen says.
HANS CHRISTIAN ØRSTED The new name - Ørsted - references the innovative Danish scientist Hans Christian Ørsted (1777-1851). Ørsted spearheaded several scientific discoveries, including the discovery of electromagnetism in 1820, which helped

OSK-SHIPTECH TO EXAMINE FERRY NEED The Ferry Company Læsø wants to examine the need for the potential purchase and construction of a completely new ferry between Læsø and Frederikshavn in Denmark. It has put the project in the hands of OSK-ShipTech.
- We’re happy that The Ferry Company Læsø chose us for the contract, says Kristian Carøe Lind, CTO at OSK-ShipTech. - A ferry project of this magnitude gives us the possibility to bring all of our competences to the table, and we are looking forward to examining whether the premises for a completely new ferry exist and subsequently potentially deliver a ship that is totally optimised to service this route, says Kristian Carøe Lind. OSK-ShipTech provides maritime services of, among other things, ship designs, interior design, and technical solutions and is part of OSK Group. The company has been involved in danish maritime magazine

a broad array of Danish as well as international shipping projects. With the newbuilding of a new Læsø-ferry, OSK-ShipTech will be in charge of design, specifications, tendering, building, interior and technical solutions. - There is a rise in the tourism to Læsø, and one of the most important things in attracting new tourists is smooth and frequent access to the island. We are looking forward to our new cooperation with OSK-ShipTech to develop a new and bigger ferry which is tailor-made for the route so passengers can travel faster to and from the island and to ensure room for our passengers on the preferred sailings, says Lars Rieks, CEO of The Ferry Company Læsø.
DAILY NEWS ON WWW.MARITIMEDENMARK.DK
Læsø is among one of Denmark’s islands without a bridge and is dependent on a ferry connection to bring the residents, freight and tourists to and from the island. Every year around 270,000 passengers take the 90-minutes long ferry trip between Frederikshavn and Læsø. Today, the ferries Ane Læsø from 1995 and Margrete Læsø from 1997 are sailing the route. The ferries can hold 55 and 75 cars respectively and 440 and 589 travellers. The passenger and car capacity on the new potential ferry to Læsø is still to be decided.

DANISH MARITIME FAIR IS A MARKET FOR RELATIONS Not to say that products aren’t important. But it becomes abundantly clear in what priority things come looking at the visitor’s motivation for attending a tradeshow. All visitors have that in common that they want to meet people who can solve their problems. That is because:
Danish Maritime Fair forms a mini ecosystem for exactly this process and tradeshows in general is by far the richest most advanced media available to marketeers of industrial products and services. It is a market place where business relations are forged.
• Products cannot build trust or demonstrate themselves, they need to be explained in relation to the buyer’s context
EXHIBITOR LOUNGE AND NETWORKING DINNER DMF2018 is designed with networking in mind. The concept has been upgraded with improvements to facilitate not only the dialogue with visitors, but also with co-exhibitors.
• Product specifications and letters of contracts cannot account for every causality in the process of implementation and transaction. • Every contract or agreement is forged and altered through interaction over time in the business relation. • Most buying decisions in business involve groups of people rather than individuals. INK ON THE DOTTED LINE Marking up the contrasts this way, it is easy to see that the product and its features are merely an invitation to talk, but the quality of the business relationship is what puts ink on the dotted line.
Although not every visitor at trade shows are buyers, they all have in common that they can influence their professional network in one way or another. That is the background for the exhibitor lounge, where exhibitors can enjoy a full catering experience during the show and network with other exhibitors - and the high-end Networking Dinner taking place on Thursday evening
