ort Lauderdale and Port Canaveral are popular embarkation points for cruises heading to the Caribbean. Less well known perhaps is the fact that these Florida ports are destinations in their own right, ripe for discovery on a pre- or post-cruise land tour. Here’s the skinny.

One of the busiest cruise ports in North America, Fort Lauderdale has more than three million passengers passing through each year. Greater Fort Lauderdale boasts 23 miles of fabulous white-sand beach, much of it lined with luxury hotels and resorts. Las Olas Boulevard, with its chic cafes, galleries and boutiques, emits a distinctly upscale vibe, while the nearby waterways and canals are peppered with lavish mansions and
yachts. A number of beach parks and natural attractions are within minutes of the cruise port.
