Exhibition 2: ART RESIDENCIES IN MENTAL HEALTH UNITS Dates: 1- 16 October 2016, 12.00-22.00 Venue: Athens School of Fine Arts Curator: Maritina Kontaratou
The exhibition presents the procedure and the art creation by artists and patients in mental health units (“work-in-progress” nature). The artists visit mental health units and conduct short-term creative workshops with the members. The artist conceives and brings about a creative topic/ title, under which the members will creatively contribute, so that a final participatory artefact will be produced by all. It’s a kind of creative “assemblage” of many different artworks, with a therapeutic and rewarding value.

is the point where art meets psychoanalysis
Freud used hypnotism, word play and dream analysis to expose mental disorders within the unconscious.
First dadaists and surrealists used automatism to allow chance or collaborative play to generate the images.

DEPENDING ON CHANCE Breton identified automatism as a principal artistic practice. The practice of automatism in art was explored and facilitated by a number of playful methods: collective creation, like “exquisite corpse”, verbal and visual poetry, automatic painting, collage, frottage, bulletism, e.t.c.

Theater PUBLIC SPACE Dates: 1- 16 October 2016 Venue: Dafni area public space Program Curator: Motus Terrae - Spyros Andreopoulos
Through exploring the use of non-theatrical public spaces (city squares, streets, parks, buildings’ facades, etc) the performance places itself in the center of the triangle created by the three fundamental parameters defining theatrical act: Stage – Spectator – Artistic creation. Based on the aforementioned approach, we consider each space as a 360° theatrical stage. 1. “You always hurt the one you love” street theatre performance by Motus Terrae.
