Welcome to Studio Avenir In 2016 I realised that in order to bring all of my ideas fully to life I need to redefine the terms under which I work. It took me another two years to figure out what exactly needs to be done, and more importantly - how. Thus Studio Avenir. From now on my work is liberated from my person and my name. I can imagine projects without being limited by my own definition of self and also invite others to work under this brand which stands for the highest level of visual communication, regardless of technique or genre. What that is will probably be iterated, redefined and expanded with each following project. One of the many outlets of our work shall be this magazine which will feature our work, our ideas, our partners and hopefully more. We encourage you to share it for there is never too much beauty in this world. Okoli leta 2016 mi je postalo jasno, da lahko moje delo zraste le če mu pripravim nove temelje. Potreboval sem še dve leti, da sem ugotovil kaj je za ta cilj potrebno narediti. Tako se je razvila ideja za Studio Avenir. Od tu naprej je moje delo osvobojeno moje osebne plati in imena. Sedaj lahko razmišljam o projektih brez da bi bil omejen s tem kako definiram samega sebe, hkrati pa lahko v ta okvir povabim tudi druge, ki lahko v tej blagovni znamki prepoznajo del svoje ustvarjalnost. Ta znamka mora predstavljati najvišji nivo vizualnih komunikaciji, ne glede na tehniko ali zvrst. Pot do tja se bo izrisovala z vsakim novim projektom. Tamara designed the logo of Studio Avenir and graphics for “Vitezi Reke“ series. She is a passionate, versatile creator, always eager to perfect herself in various skills. Although she is currently a full time architecture student, finishing her master’s diploma, she is also part time designer and an artist in her free time. Throughout all of her study years she has been and still is searching for the right creative path, fully seizing whatever opportunity reaches her. Nekega poletnega dne med vojno so v dolinici Šmagurje pod Ostrožnim Brdom skrivoma organizirali veselico. Obetalo se je obilo petja in plesa, prišli pa naj bi partizanski fantje iz vseh Brkinov, zato so se tudi dekleta odpravila tja. Spričo lepega vremena so se še posebej lepo uredile. “Ma, ko je bilo najbolj lepo, je prišel dež. Tam je bil oder in mi smo se skrili podenj, ampak smo bili vseeno mokri kot miši. Če bi takrat prišli Nemci, bi nas vse postrelili, ker iz tiste doline ne bi mogli zbežat.” Ko se je dež malce umiril, so se odpravili domov, toda marsikatero dekle se je vračalo boso, ker ji je dež uničil sandale, ki jih je prav za to priložnost kupila s težko privarčevanimi prihranki.

One summer day during the War a ball was secretly organised in Šmagurje valley (right beneath Ostrožno Brdo, Brkini). The weather was nice and they dressed especially nice. “But when we had the most fun the rain started to pour from the sky. We hid under the stage but we were still soaking wet. If Germans would have found us at the time we would be an easy target., because we were trapped in the valley.” When the rain ceased they returned home. However, many girls had to walk back barefoot because the rain destroyed their new sandals which they have bought especially for this occasion.

Po zelo dobrem odzivu na film “Vjlka Wada,” smo se s Parkom Škocjanske Jame odločili, da stopimo v tesnejše sodelovanje in film povežemo v serijo epizod s skupnim naslovom Vitezi Reke, ki bo prikazovala dobronamerna prizadevanja na področju biosfernega območja porečja reke Reke. Že na uvodnem sestanku smo našteli kar nekaj viteških zgodb in kot prva je za snemanje prišla na vrsto pripoved o reševanju dvoživk na cesti Famlje-Ribnica.
Snemanje dokumentarncev sicer ni toliko planirano in organizirano
Zaradi velike količine posnetkov sva bila oba z računalnikom na

A Long Way Home Since the short film “River Reclaimed” was so well accepted, Park Škocjanske jame and I decided to collaborate further and create a series of episodes called “River Knights” which would feature environmental actions on river Reka biosphere reserve. At our first meeting we listed a number of worthy stories, but the one about helping frogs cross the road was soon our favorite. Shooting documentaries is not nearly as planned as with fiction films but it still has to follow the rules of drama and good storytelling. Usually it requires a lot of journalistic preparation, research and referencing similar projects. Park Škocjanske jame personel was extremely helpful in this regard. Our first meetings took place about a month before the actual project commenced. Two weeks later Borut and I recorded an interview which in its shorter form served us as the final story of the film. Although it was recoded prior to the project, it is still necessary to have it because it carries important information about the required footage. If something surprising came up during the shooting we could always reshoot these voiceovers, but it would be very irrational to film without a script. Principal photography (the actual shooting) was quite strenuous. Late winter is still quite cold, often there was rain and fog. The frogs were not nearly as numerous as we had expected which made the efforts all the more important. It took us about three weeks to finish this phase. The share amount of footage put a lot of stress on my computer and myself personally. This stage is usually the most frustrating. 6 hours of footage had do be reduced down to 6 minutes. But with each cut the story was coming to life and the whole work became more and more meaningful. Tomaž, more commonly known as the member of popular Siddharta band, was the composer of the music for the previous film and this time we both looked forward of our new collaboration. While I was putting the story together he was already composing the first bits and pieces of the music. When I had a rough cut of the film finished we put all of it together to see how it works. From then on we iterated all the following versions in a very exciting zig-zag way; each sound gave ideas for novel approaches in picture editing, and vice versa. Music and sound can define the meaning of the picture much more than we are willing to admit and Tomaž produced a work that borders on magic. It is humbling and rewarding to work with people who surpass you.

Dolgoletni prijatelj Uroš Barič nas je sredi septembra povabil na vrt svojega doma v Zavrhku in tako predstavil svoj solo kitarski album z naslovom Midnight. Na albumu so priredbe nežnejših skladb, primerne za poslušanje ob čaju in zvoku čričkov. Tako smo se na najlepši možen način poslovili od poletja. A long time friend Uroš Barič invited us to his backyard garden to witness a release of his new solo guitar album Midnight. The album features gentle songs which are to be enjoyed with a coup of tea and the sound of crickets. I could hardly imagine a better way to conclude the summer of 2018.
