The King’s Ridge Difference Many independent schools Technology Initiatives In providing a college preparatory offer strong academics and smaller class sizes. King’s Ridge has these components and many more. So what makes King’s Ridge different?
Relationships
King’s Ridge has always worked to develop a strong sense of Christian community. As KRCS expands over the next several years to a maximum enrollment of 1250 students, we will remain committed to the school’s mission of maintaining the Christian community and providing attention to individual students and their potential.
Non-Denominational
Our families seek a non-denominational environment where they feel included and extend the love of Christ to all. We welcome students seeking a high quality Christian education regardless of current church membership. We remain intentionally focused on Christ through the structure of our program. Christianity is what we practice as a lifestyle and grow in daily.
education, our students need to be savvy in their use of technology. King’s Ridge has invested in a wireless-access campus and in the hardware so that students can use laptop computers in their classrooms starting at early grade levels. All upper- school students are provided their own personal laptops with access to software that permits collaborative learning experiences such as those found in college level work.
Growth of the School
King’s Ridge Christian School has built a well-respected program by remaining diligent to the mission of the school. While continuing to build upon this foundation, with great excitement we also look forward to the growth of our new campus. Families are eager to be part of this dynamic institution as it will make a major impact on a large number of children and families and leave a legacy for generations to come.
What will your story be? Each year we hear from our new families about their children’s successful transition into our school community. There is a difference here that you won’t find in many other schools. It doesn’t happen by accident, but rather by an intentional commitment to the mission of the school: to create a Christian community, and then, within that community, to prepare our children for college and life beyond by developing academic skills as well as the spiritual, emotional, social, physical, and ethical aspects of life.

Within these pages are but a few snapshots of the daily life at King’s Ridge and some of the stories that happen within our school family.
King’s Ridge Christian School graduated its first senior class in front of 500 people on a bright and sunny morning in May 2007. The inaugural class had a dramatic story to tell. It was a story of positive attitude, perseverance and leadership. In 2004 the Board of Directors considered delaying the expansion of the upper school until some land issues were resolved. Members of this class requested an appearance before this decision-making body to request they forge ahead with the high school. The students’ heartfelt plea was embraced and lovingly recognized in the first baccalaureate speech by Board Chair, John Smoltz.
“On that summer morning you said to this Board of men and women, ‘Let us be. Let us do.’ Your presentation to the Board made a difference in an environment that had not yet begun. You made a difference in a difficult situation. I am inspired by and attached to people who have vision. Visionaries see a different picture every day while followers see the same picture. We will never forget this story. We will never stop telling this story.”

The direction of the road you choose is influenced by where you have been. As an eighth grader, Andrew Marshall became close friends with the four boys of the inaugural class while they were but sophomores. Taking the younger ones under wing, these four young men created a bond through leading by example and finding similar interests. Over the next three years this grew into a bond shared by these upper class men. The foundation of those friendships strengthened until the inaugural class graduated. Knowing that his four friends were moving onto college, Andrew realized that is was his time to do what had been done for him... share the commitment by building bridges with the next generation.
t Off to a Great Start
Lucy is a fourth grader who has spent every day of her school life at King’s Ridge Christian School. And she wouldn’t think of starting her day without finding friends she has connected with from the very beginning. Brenda Clinton, Christian Education teacher, starts her day in the same way as she welcomes many of our students – with an embrace.
Connecting Each year our upper school students find a place to connect. It starts with a small group organization in which they partner with a faculty member who serves as their advisor. With a fully involved schedule of academics and extra-curricular activities, the small group is a comfortable place to engage and relate, and, in more relaxed times, just hang out.
Leading, learning
Teaching is not merely conveying information. It also involves leading students to that “aha” moment where they see how the information relates to the rest of their world. Our student-teacher relationships are built on mutual respect and accessibility to each other. Our students continually state that their teachers are the one reason why King’s Ridge is such a special place because they feel that they are valued, known, and accepted for who they are.
Our parents, our partners “People ask me ‘What is the difference here?’ It’s really not the buildings or the classrooms. It is what is inside and surrounding them. It is the heart of the people. I love the passion of the people involved in this school. King’s Ridge has been a way not only to involve my child but to welcome me in as well. This is a place I can feel at home.”

One of the great joys in life is learning to celebrate our friends along the way.

t It Starts at the Top and Filters Down
The mission of King’s Ridge Christian School starts with a Christian community working to provide a college-preparatory education. The Christian component exists in a non-denominational frame of reference where the school reaches out to families with an invitation to community. Every activity begins in prayer to invite our Heavenly Father to be present with us and influence all of our decisions. Learning compassion by giving of oneself through community service is an important part of each student’s development.
Options Galore… That is what I want for my children. With the wireless campus and access to technology King’s Ridge will give my children the tools to make that happen.” –KRCS parent.
Outside the box learning…
Whether it‘s using applied physics to design an accurate potato shooter or editing a videotape of an interview with a college admissions representative, King’s Ridge students are given opportunities to apply their knowledge in real life situations.
Instant Access
Technology is a way to connect our classrooms with what is happening around the world. Students learn about events in real time and transfer concepts into other learning situations. Collaborative learning provides additional motivation to our digital natives (students) as they build relationships that traditional teaching methods may not provide.
t
Whether it is a new football program, the arts department, or facilities expansion, opportunities abound for family involvement that can make a difference in the lives of young people. We seek students and families who want to get involved in our Christian community. The potential for King’s Ridge to make a sizable impact on the community in fostering academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth is far-reaching. We celebrate our current families and reach out to our new friends to welcome them with open arms.

A Band of Brothers One cold February morning 5-year old Drew got dressed to go try out a day in kindergarten at King’s Ridge Christian School. You see, he would be entering kindergarten at “the big school” the following year. The admissions assessment that morning was nothing out of the ordinary, but the importance for Drew was that he was now ready to move on. The next Monday morning he got up with his older brothers, put on a King’s Ridge uniform and was ready for school. In a matter of a few days in a young boy’s mind, Drew became a King’s Ridge student.

Our Strategy (how we live it) We seek to meet the individual needs of
students and families within the structural framework of a school setting. We believe that personal connections with others are the first step in building relationships. These connections bring a greater understanding, extending from a personal to a global level as students move on to their college experience and then on into life. We believe that involvement in a variety of school activities engages students in ways that reinforce the sense of Christian community and support of our students in their growth.
