Mark Donatelli VMA105WB Week 2 Understanding Photoshop Basics 1. What is the purpose/use of the following in Photoshop: a. Marquee: Used to select areas of an image, which then can be copied, cut, or cropped. Areas of an image may also be selected to apply a filter or effect to a particular area. b. Eraser: Used to erase parts of an image. It has three variations which are regular eraser, background eraser and magic eraser. c. Clone Stamp: Allows you to duplicate part of an image and place elsewhere on the image to cover up anything you do not like about the image. If you remove an object from an image and you do not like what is left you could use the clone stamp to grab from another area and place over where the object was removed. d. Blur: Blurs images. You could use it to blur the background of an image and leave the main area as is for a cool effect. You can also use it to blur edges of an object. 2. (20%) Mention 5 ways to return an image to 100% magnification in Photoshop. 1. Select Zoom tool and left click/hold mouse down 2. Hit Command and + sign key 3. Select Scrubby Zoom in top toolbar, hold down mouse and drag 4. Double click Hand tool and choose fit to screen or fill screen 5. Click view -> Scroll Down -> Zoom in

3. (20%) Explain the steps you will take to make images "snap to" guides in Photoshop. First you click view -> snap to -> guides, make sure guides and layers is selected. You then go to rulers either horizontally or vertically and drag them down to where you would like. You will then see your grids. Now any object you place will “snap to these grids.
