Volunteering opportunities in Hull & East Riding HEY! Volunteering (previously the City of Culture volunteer programme) will be opening recruitment on 7 Feburary for volunteers for the first time in more than 2 years. Minimum age to volunteer is 16. The main focus of the volunteer programme is to support arts, culture and heritage across Hull and East Yorkshire. The volunteers get involved with all sorts from art galleries to outdoor festivals, community projects, heritage buildings etc. One of the main strengths of the programme is that volunteers can pick and choose what they get involved in - they can offer as much or as little of their time as they want. Volunteers select their own shifts using an online system, according to their interests and availability. There’s also a free ‘masterclass’ programme where they can try something new or build their skills. Examples of masterclasses we’ve got coming up include intro to BSL, disability awareness, portrait painting etc. Particularly for younger people, it’s great for building up a CV because they can pull reports off the online system that demonstrate their volunteering hours and what skills they’ve developed.
