Welcome to Hymers. I am delighted that you are considering a place here.
From Pre-School right through to Sixth Form, Hymers offers the very best in education, facilities, pastoral support and co-curricular opportunities for those aged 3 to 18.
As one school on two sites with one collective vision, at Hymers Hessle Mount (Pre-School – Year 2) and Hymers College (Year 3 – Sixth Form) we put our children at the very centre of all we do.
On both campuses, creative and dynamic teachers support pupils on their learning journey, inspiring them to be independent thinkers who are interested and engaged in the world around them.
Hymers also offers a supportive system of pastoral care with a strong tutorial system and House system. We recognise that the social and emotional development of pupils is of equal
importance to their academic progress. As such, the co-curricular offering outside the classroom is second-to-none.
At Hymers Hessle Mount swimming lessons, an on-site woodland area, music lessons and games lessons with a PE specialist provide the backbone of learning beyond the classroom.
Meanwhile at Hymers College, with its own swimming pool, 200-seater theatre, new top-grade astroturf pitch, music centre with recording studio, Learning Resource Centre and over 120 clubs and societies, pupils from Year 3 to Year 13 have plenty to explore beyond their academic timetable. There is something for everyone here at Hymers.
I look forward to welcoming you and your family to the Hymers community.
Mr Justin StanleyThere are four stages to the Hymers journey. Children are welcomed into the Hymers family from their third birthday at our Pre-School based at Hymers Hessle Mount. They continue through to the completion of Year 2.
If joining from Hymers Hessle Mount, pupils move to Hymers Junior School for Year 3 to Year 6 with no entrance assessment. At the end of Year 6 they transfer to Hymers Senior School for Years 7 – 11, again with no entrance assessment.
The final stage of the Hymers journey is our Sixth Form for Years 12 – 13 before our pupils head off on their next step either into the world of work, university, apprenticeships, travel or adventure.
Of course, while many children do join us early, we do accept pupils into the Hymers family through all year groups, the most common being joining Pre-School and then Year 3, Year 7 and Sixth Form. An entrance assessment must be sat by children looking to join Hymers College from Year 3 onwards.

“Empowering young people to enrich the world”
– Independent Schools Inspectorate 2022, Hymers College
Pupils demonstrate an extremely high level of achievement in their academic studies and through their co-curricular commitments.
From Hymers Hessle Mount for our youngest pupils through to our Sixth Form, we create an environment in which our pupils can grow, explore, discover and flourish. We inspire a sense of belonging and ignite a passion for learning.
Our characteristically high standards and expectations create a culture whereby young people are empowered to excel. This is demonstrated by our consistently outstanding results across all academic disciplines and the high uptake of the wide variety of co-curricular activities we offer.
Our inclusive culture is one in which it is respected to succeed, whatever the endeavour. Mistakes are not viewed as failures, but as learning opportunities. We support pupils to fulfil their aspirations within the curriculum and through co-curricular activities, developing well-rounded, grounded young adults who contribute positively to society.
Across our two campuses, Hymers is able to offer our pupils incredible space and facilities to explore, play, discover and grow outside of the classroom.
At the front of Hymers Hessle Mount there is a large field used for games and sports. We also have a sunken garden, on-site forest school, trim trail and all-weather play area.
As the site of the former botanic gardens, Hymers College sits in nearly 50 acres of green space, just 10 minutes from the city centre.
Our Junior School pupils have their own fields to play in, separate from the Senior School. They have a trim trail, outdoor table tennis tables, a playground, all-weather quiet area by the lake and a forest school. Pupils also use the outdoor sports courts and astro pitch.
In the Senior School pupils have access to several grassed pitches for games including football, cricket and rugby, an athletics area, cricket pavilion the Quad, several outdoor all-weather pitches and courts for sports such as netball, tennis, hockey and football.
Pupils are highly respectful towards each other and appreciate each other’s differences as well as everyone’s common humanity.
– Independent Schools Inspectorate 2022, Hymers College
Across both our school sites we pride ourselves on the strong pastoral care and support that we offer our pupils. We recognise and appreciate that the emotional and social development of our pupils is just as important as their academic and intellectual development.
We aim to create a community of active thinkers and learners who are happy and engaged with all aspects of school life. We strongly believe this balance is best achieved in partnership with pupils, parents and guardians.
At Hymers Hessle Mount each pupil has their own dedicated class teacher, and in our Junior School and Senior School a form tutor whom parents are able to contact. Parents’ evenings and events at the school mean there are plenty of opportunities for involvement in school life and for interaction with the school.
Our House system at Hymers Hessle Mount and Hymers College, whereby children are placed in one of four houses on their arrival, means throughout their school life they have a support structure within their House.
At Hymers Hessle Mount and in our Junior School, the CARE code guides all pupils in their actions and behaviour. In the Senior School our Sixth Formers act as buddies for pupils lower down the school, Form Prefects support form classes and our pastoral staff are always available for pupils. Prospectus | 2023-24
Education at Hymers is not confined to the classroom. Our pupils, from the youngest to the oldest, are encouraged to explore and discover adventure beyond the school desk.
At Hymers Hessle Mount, as well as a large outdoor space at the site to play in and explore, children in Year 1 and Year 2 regularly travel to Hymers College to use the swimming pool. Music staff from Hymers College visit Hymers Hessle Mount to offer music lessons to pupils and PE is taught by a PE specialist. There are regular lunchtime and after-school clubs on offer. School trips are also a regular feature of activity as are school productions.
Our pupils in the Junior School, Senior School and Sixth Form have use of our fantastic 200-seater theatre – opened by Dame
Judi Dench - for school productions put on throughout the year with the opportunity to have Drama lessons in the theatre. The pupils at Hymers College also have a swimming pool on offer as well as an array of musical instrument lessons available. Over 120 clubs and societies are offered being held before school, at lunchtime and after school. There is something for everyone here at Hymers.
We know that having engaging learning environments can help support and inspire pupils in their academic studies. The right environment has a positive impact on children’s attention and focus and how they interact with their peers and teachers.
We are proud to prioritise investing in our school classrooms and facilities at both of our sites. Having taken over the site in July 2022, we have already made significant investment at Hymers Hessle Mount. We have ambitious plans to develop and enhance the school further over the coming years. This includes fully refurbished classrooms, enhanced IT capabilities and facilities, building an on-site kitchen and developing the outdoor learning environment around the site.
At our Hymers College site we have a rolling programme of investment and upgrade throughout the school. Every year we make substantial investment into the school site to ensure that we offer the very best to our pupils.
Most recently we have installed a new, top of the range astro pitch and resurfaced all of the outdoor courts, we have built a new Sixth Form common room, upgraded a number of the science laboratories and redecorated and re-carpeted many classrooms. This programme of investment will continue going forward.
Pupils in both Junior and Senior Schools achieve at high levels through participation in the school’s co-curricular programme.

From the moment your child joins Hymers they become part of a connected and supportive community of former pupils - Old Hymerians - for life.
With nearly 9,000 in our OH community, spread across the world, there will always be an Old Hymerian who can offer help, advice and support to a current student.
We are indebted to our Old Hymerians who give so much back to the School. This includes:
➔ Delivering assemblies on their career path since leaving Hymers;
➔ Helping facilitate work experience for current pupils;
➔ Taking part in ‘mock interview’ sessions to prepare existing students for university and job interviews;
➔ Joining our letter writing campaign with Year 6 pupils to explore how being a student at Hymers has changed over the years;
➔ Speaking to our Sixth Form-led societies which include Law, Engineering, Medical, Biology and Languages
Thanks to this vibrant and successful community, we are able to facilitate the opening of doors to onward opportunities for our pupils once they leave us here at Hymers.
Once a Hymerian, always a Hymerian.
At Hymers Hessle Mount School we put children at the heart of everything that we do. We believe in leading by example; role modelling kindness, empathy and respect so that our pupils foster happiness and positive personal growth. A safe and nurturing environment is created allowing our young children to embark on the first stages of their learning adventure. With bright, modern classrooms, engaging teachers and teaching assistants and a rich programme of learning and exploration away from the classroom, Hymers Hessle Mount offers the very best start for local children. Children can join us from their third birthday into our Pre-School, booking to attend the entire week or just on certain days dependent on space. From Reception through to Year 2 we have two classes for each year group with class sizes of a maximum of 20.
We are proud to be able to offer a rich and varied curriculum for our pupils including regular swimming lessons for pupils in Year 1 and Year 2, music lessons and outside learning environments including our on-site woodland area and games field.
Our school CARE Code supports everything that we do at Hymers Hessle Mount and allows our pupils to make friends, have fun, laugh and flourish in a happy and supportive environment.
My staff and I look forward to welcoming you and your family to Hymers Hessle Mount.
There is no entrance assessment to join Hymers Hessle Mount. Instead we invite parents to tour the school and offer a taster morning or day for your child.
Mr Andy Copeland Head, Hymers Hessle MountHymers Hessle Mount
“I am passionate about teaching. I believe that school should be nurturing, exciting and most of all great fun.”
Hymers Hessle Mount Pre-School is a warm and welcoming environment where we introduce the children to the exciting world of learning.
The children are nurtured and cared for by our experienced staff team. The staff create a vibrant, stimulating and supportive atmosphere in which children are encouraged to ask questions, learn about themselves, others and the world around them.
Each day is filled with purposeful play and the excitement of discovering new things. The staff respond to each child’s enthusiasm by tailoring an approach to suit their needs. They allow children to be creative, to explore and investigate, to experiment, to problem solve and to reason.
Children in the Pre-School will regularly integrate with the rest of the school including assemblies, lunchtime and free play. After their time in the PreSchool the children will be fully prepared to make their next steps into full-time school.
“We know it is important for children of all ages to experience a broad and rich curriculum and have the opportunity to develop interests at an early age.”
In Reception the curriculum is delivered using a mixture of child-initiated play and adult-led activities. We plan topics based on the children’s interests and adapt the classroom environment accordingly. Days consist of exploring and developing language and literacy, engaging in challenging mathematics and creatively exploring various topics.
Outdoor learning is very important to us in Reception. We have a dedicated woodland area which we visit weekly to offer the chance to take learning out of the classroom. Information about what the children have been learning and achieving is shared with parents at regular intervals, through our online learning journal, Tapestry. Reception children also have specialist Music and PE lessons and have opportunities for further development through the co-curricular programme.
As the children move into Key-Stage 1 they continue to develop their thirst for learning. New topics each term create exciting and varied learning opportunities. The curriculum is filled with practical, hands-on lessons, incorporating outdoor learning which is woven throughout. We promote a love of reading through reading with and to the children regularly to help develop the children’s key comprehension skills. Our maths curriculum is designed carefully to ensure that our children deepen their knowledge and skills and can master them in exciting ways and at greater depth. The curriculum also offers trips, visitors, events and theme weeks which help enhance the children’s early learning and development.
The children will travel by bus to the Hymers College site for weekly swimming lessons and will also have specialist teachers for Music and PE lessons. In addition, children have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument through individual tuition.
Regular visits over at the Hymers College site allows the children to become familiar with the Junior School, meet teachers and make friends with pupils in older year groups. This will allow a seamless transition from Year 2 to Year 3 for these pupils when making the next steps in their Hymers journey.

Welcome to Hymers College Junior School. We provide a safe, happy and caring environment where all pupils are encouraged to develop and learn. We believe at this young age it is vital we give pupils the opportunity to spread their wings, explore and develop a passion for learning. We foster this through our exceptional subject specific teachers, teaching in subject specific classrooms.
We have outstanding facilities to offer our youngsters. A dedicated art room, science lab, library and design workshop to name but a few, and all of this set in a huge green outdoor space for pupils to play and build friendships.
Our pupils also regularly use the facilities we share with the Senior School such as the swimming pool and theatre with galas and performances regularly peppering the school calendar.
We offer young people the very best start in life and I look forward to welcoming you to the Hymers family.
Our CARE code lies at the heart of everything we do in the Junior School and is the reason it is such a friendly, supportive and happy learning environment. We are proud of our CARE code. It acts as a guide for all in the Junior School for how we conduct ourselves and how we interact with one another.
We believe these principles stand our pupils in good stead for life in the Senior School and beyond.
Show you care by being kind, considerate and wellmannered.
Understand why others think and behave differently.
Show respect towards others. Have selfrespect and always try to be truthful. Respect others’ belongings and the school environment.
Always try your best in everything you do.
Our curriculum is designed to provide a thorough grounding in the core skills which are required throughout education, along with offering pupils a broad range of subjects outside of the norm, which spark interest and challenge.

Music is highly regarded in the Junior School with pupils encouraged to take up an instrument and access one of the many ensembles including orchestra, wind band, string group and percussion group. There are regular concerts and performance opportunities, encouraging children to gain in confidence. The school has achieved national recognition for choral singing, having won the Barnardo’s National Choral Competition at the Royal Festival Hall, achieving second place at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod and Runners Up at the BBC Songs of Praise School Choir of the Year.
A high proportion of the children in the school sing in one of the un-auditioned year group choirs and have ample opportunities to sing in the local community as well as embark on a tour to Edinburgh.
All children have regular drama lessons and have an opportunity to perform in a whole year group production. This fully inclusive approach aims to build self-esteem for all. Past productions include ‘Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’, ‘Aladdin’, ‘Shakespeare’s Apprentices’, ‘Peter Pan’, ‘Hoodwinked’ and ‘Alice the Musical’.
We believe it is important for our younger pupils to have the freedom to learn outside the classroom. We run a comprehensive series of activities and trips throughout the year ranging from Science day trips, to a sports tour to Worcester, a choir tour to Edinburgh and an outward-bound activity week in the Lake District. We also host a programme of in-school themed days and weeks, which encourages pupils to immerse themselves in a particular topic and to work collaboratively with each other.
During our themed weeks, pupils are empowered to decide for themselves what they wish to concentrate on, culminating in a presentation or exhibition at the end of the week which is shared with parents and the rest of Hymers College.
Our Junior School celebrates achievements in weekly Commendation Assemblies and with its own Speech Day which is held at the end of the academic year.
Each child within the Junior School will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of different sports. Our comprehensive programme of fixtures ensures that every child represents Hymers College in sport. The provision of sport in the Junior School caters for all ability ranges, aiming to improve the children’s skills in an enjoyable and inclusive way, boosting confidence and independence.
The principle sports played at Hymers for boys are rugby (autumn term), football (spring term) and cricket and athletics (summer term). The girls play hockey and football in the autumn term, netball in the spring term, with cricket and athletics in the summer term. Alongside these, we have a number of co-curricular clubs that run at various points during the year, including boys’ hockey, girls’ rugby, Running Club and fencing.
Recent successes include our U11 rugby team winning six tournaments, including HMC Rugby and HMC 7s and the Boys’ Football teams won the Hull Schools 9-a-side tournament. We have introduced girls’ football as a mainstream sport in lessons and are proud that the U11 team qualified for, and subsequently performed very well in, the National ISFA Finals at England’s training base at St George’s Park. Our girls are also currently Hull Schools Netball champions. Our U10 boys are currently HMC Athletics Champions. Our dance group recently qualified for and competed in the National Finals of the ‘Great Big Dance Off’ in Oxford and our Swimming Team has qualified for the ESSA National Finals thirteen years in a row.
Our U10 boys and girls have an opportunity to go on a one day sports tour before they move into Year 6, when the rugby, hockey and netball teams have the chance to participate in a three day sports tour.

Many exciting opportunities await students in the Sixth Form, whether they are continuing with us from Year 11 or joining us for the first time in Year 12
Our culture is one of aspiration and every pupil will be encouraged to achieve their very best inside the classroom, and take part in the extensive range of activities offered outside of the classroom.
This means that as well as first-rate teaching in a large range of A Level and BTEC courses taught in small class sizes, our Sixth Form students also have plenty of opportunities beyond their lessons. They can be part of our successful sports teams, receive expert music tuition, perform in outstanding plays and musicals, volunteer at local community projects, take part in the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme or join in or help run one of over 100 clubs and activities available in the Senior School.
We are also able to harness our extensive network of former students across the globe who have excelled in a huge variety of career pathways. They are able to offer work experience, careers guidance and talks to our current pupils to inspire them with new career ideas and possibilities. Through these networks we can open doors to onward opportunities
These are just three of the qualities that students will take away with them after their time in our Sixth Form.
In the Sixth Form students are able to take on new responsibilities and challenges, and enjoy greater independence with their studies and time management. They will be encouraged to exceed what is expected of them and leave with the skills to equip them for their next endeavours.
Sixth Form students are encouraged to make the most of our extensive co-curricular programme which continues into Years 12 and 13. Whether that is a love of sport, music, drama or
indeed involvement in community activities out in the locality, time is made in the school day for Sixth Formers to take part.
Supporting and giving back to the community is an important part of the ethos of Hymers College and our students are involved in a number of projects, from listening to children read in several local primary schools, to collecting toys and games for vulnerable children.
Sixth Formers are invited to join the School Council and Form Prefects act as ambassadors of the school and as supporters of those in the younger years. Sixth Form students also have the
opportunity to participate in our buddy system, which provides individual peer guidance to those students in the years below.
The vast majority of our Year 11 group will continue on into our Sixth Form and they will be joined by new pupils to Hymers, coming specifically for the final two years of study.
Students generally choose three subjects (four in certain circumstances). Course availability of some subjects may depend upon demand. The Sixth Form provision is continuously reviewed to respond to the needs of pupils. The most up-to-date list of courses is available by contacting the Admissions Office. A number of independently studied courses are also available, such as the Extended Project Qualification and the Certificate in Financial Studies. Students are supported through their studies via a tutor typically in a small group of 12 who meet on a daily basis.

Our dedicated Sixth Form Centre has its own Junior Common Room, dining facility, computer suites, study areas and socialising hubs.
There are also screens showing important notices and Sixth Form news. Students are encouraged to use our Learning Resource Centre, which has areas conducive to silent study and independent learning, a skill required for university life and further education.
We also encourage a variety of learning methods for Sixth Form pupils, including weekly lectures from interesting external speakers ranging from a Holocaust survivor to hypnotist Martin Taylor.
We encourage our students to be busy and make the most of all the activities we have on offer, of which there are many.
In addition to the creative arts and sports activities we have timetabled, we provide a Sixth Form specific co-curricular programme for our students to become involved in.
Our pupils also enjoy a variety of field trips throughout their time in the Sixth Form. Most recently, these have included a Classics trip to Sicily, Biology trip to Cranedale and CatZero yachting expedition.
Our senior sports squads have the opportunity to go on tour to destinations in the UK and abroad. The most recent trip took our hockey, rugby and netball teams on a tour to South Africa.
There is a dedicated games afternoon with everything from pilates to swimming.
Our students in Years 12 & 13 have enjoyed recent national recognition in a number of areas including National Schools Badminton Championships, ISGA Finalists, National Squash Trophy Finalists, National Representation for Science Olympiads, National Engineering Finalists, Cambridge Schools Debating Competition Finalists and Winners of the Arkwright Engineering Scholarship to name but a few.
We pride ourselves on the bespoke career advice and higher education support we are able to offer to our Year 12 and 13 pupils.
The majority of our Sixth Form students continue from Hymers to top level universities, a number of our students also take other routes - fully supported by us - be it to an apprenticeship, drama school or into the world of work to name just a few.
From our Sixth Form lecture series to our regular HymersCAN! networking events, through our extensive network of contacts in a huge range of professions, we are able to open our students’ eyes to a wide spectrum of careers pathways.
Our annual Careers Convention also helps our students think about their next steps, attracting senior representatives and young graduates from over 50 organisations covering a full range of career areas. The same is true of our extensive work experience opportunities for our students, especially for those who require specific experience to make their university applications, including in medical settings and even in Parliament.
Our annual practice interviews evening for Year 13 involves a network of professionals from academic institutions, healthcare and local businesses to help students gain valuable experience, especially when applying for competitive university places.

What time does school start and end?
See page 24 for HHM, page 37 for the Junior School, page 47 for Senior School and page 57 for Sixth Form.
How do pupils get to and from school?
Pupils can be dropped off at both of our sites by car or bike. We also have extensive bus provision throughout Hull and the East Riding and the South bank to bring pupils into Hymers College. Please contact our Admissions team for an overview of bus timetable.
How do we communicate with parents?
At both of our school sites we recognise the importance of communication between teachers and parents/guardians. You should feel comfortable contacting your child’s teacher or form tutor with any questions or queries. In addition, we also have a formal system of reporting back to parents on pupils progress and regular parents’ evenings. From Year 3 we make use of an online parent portal – Schoogle – to upload reports and information for parents. For the younger years, parents receive reports in the post.
How do I purchase a uniform?
For Hymers Hessle Mount our uniform is available through www.steadyschoolwear.co.uk
For Hymers College our uniform is available through www.schoolblazer.com
We also run regular second-hand uniform sales to allow good quality uniforms to continue to be used.
How do lunches work?
At Hymers Hessle Mount pupils can either bring in a packed lunch or take advantage of the hot lunch provision at the site. The hot lunch menu will be issued to parents and booked in advance. At Hymers College pupils can also bring a packed lunch or use the canteen for a hot lunch. Again, the hot lunch menu is issued in advance. At the Hymers College site there is no advance booking for hot lunches.
Neither site require cash payment for lunch.
In both cases the ParentPay app is used whereby parents upload money onto the app to pay for lunches.
How do you deal with any specific requirements around food, for example food allergies or requirements to respect religious beliefs?
When a child enters Hymers their parents will complete a consent booklet. In this booklet parents detail any allergies the school needs to be aware of and any religious requirements. Information about our food is made available to pupils and parents in advance so that informed decisions can be made about what pupils should eat. Teachers also supervise lunch so if pupils had any questions they could consult a member of staff.
Both of our school sites strive to be nut-free and we ask that all parents respect this when preparing any snacks or packed lunches for their children.
If your child is a student at Hymers Hessle Mount and has an accident or starts to feel unwell they will be seen by one of the paediatric first aiders. Parents will be informed of small bumps and
grazes via a minor injuries form. In the case of a head injury, the parent will be called and a head injury information leaflet will be issued for the pupil’s aftercare at home. If we are ever in doubt about a child’s wellbeing we will contact the parents/guardians. In case of an actual or suspected medical emergency an ambulance will be called.
At Hymers College we have a full-time, highly qualified nursing team based in our first-aid centre located near the dining hall. This is accessible for all pupils should they feel unwell or want to talk to our welfare nurse.
From Reception to Year 13 our fees at both school sites cover the academic teaching and before and after-school care. If your child is collected late, an additional charge will be added to the school bill. Uniform and school lunches would be an additional cost to the fees.
Please see page 65 for details of our bursary programme.
Making sure we stay grounded and appreciate our local surroundings is one of our founding principles here at Hymers. Our pupils are all encouraged to give something back to the local community through a range of activities.
Every year our student council selects the ‘School charities of the year’ who, over the academic year, we will fundraise for to support their cause. We also support those locally in need through our Christmas parcel collection and, most recently, have raised money to purchase products to support the people of Ukraine.
In our Junior School the Leadership Club regularly takes the lead on raising funds to support local and national charities and in 2021 the Year 6 choir recorded and released a song to raise money for Barnardo’s.
In 2022, a team from Hymers beat eight other regional winners from a total of over 140 schools to claim gold in the Goldsmiths’ Company Community Engagement Awards. It showcased the range of community projects and charitable activities that the students have been involved with. This national award highlights our committment to charitable giving and community action.
Our careers programme starts in Year 8 with a coordinated approach through to Year 13. Our specialist careers advisor is on hand throughout your child’s time in the Senior School to give individual advice and guidance.
Greater emphasis is given in Year 11 and beyond, with an annual Careers Convention. Students in Years 11-13 take part in our successful work experience programme with help from our dedicated coordinator, and students also focus on employability skills.
We are proud to have been successfully assessed and accredited to hold the national Quality in Careers Standard This is a national award recognising our excellent careers, Higher Education and work experience programme.

In keeping with the founding principles of Hymers, we are proud to be able to offer a generous Bursary Fund (also known as a Fee Remission Scheme) to enable children to attend Hymers when parents are unable to pay the full fees.
Under the Scheme, financial help up to the full value of tuition fees may be available, from Year 3 onwards, dependent upon the child’s academic ability and an assessment of the income and assets of the family.
As a guide, if family income is below circa £65,000 per year, you may be eligible for some assistance. If family income is below circa £23,000 per year, you may not need to pay any tuition fees. Income from all sources is taken into account including (but not limited to) pay from employment, net profit from self-employment, benefits and pensions received. Bursaries are given at the discretion of the Governors and all fee assistance is reassessed on an annual basis.
The Finance Office will be happy to give confidential advice to existing or prospective parents about their eligibility under the scheme. The Finance team can be contacted on: 01482 470224.
Outlined below is an overview of how the admissions process works at Hymers. If you would like to discuss your individual application, please contact our Admissions team on 01482 343555
If you are interested in applying for a place at Hymers Hessle Mount we would first recommend that you have a tour of the school with Mr Copeland, our Head of Hymers Hessle Mount and your child has a taster day.
When you have completed the tour and taster day, if you would like to proceed you should complete our short application form, either online or on paper. On receipt of the application, and providing there is a place available, we will send you an offer and paperwork to complete for you to accept the place.
We can accept children into Hymers Hessle Mount from their third birthday. Depending on when your child turns three you may wish to talk with the team at Hymers Hessle Mount about when it would be most appropriate for your child to join the school.
Children who enter Hymers Hessle Mount will transfer automatically without an entrance assessment into Year 3 at Hymers College Junior School.
For those interested in a place at Hymers College but who do not attend Hymers Hessle Mount, it is necessary for your child to sit an entrance assessment prior to any offer of a place at Hymers College.
The main entry points for pupils joining Hymers College are Year 3 (start of the Junior School), Year 7 (start of Senior School) and Year 12 (start of Sixth Form). If places are available, we can also accept pupils throughout the other year groups. Please contact the Admissions team for information on place availability.
For both the Junior School and Senior School the main entrance assessment is typically held in the January preceding the September your child hopes to join. For example, for pupils looking to join the school in September 2024, the main entrance assessment will be held in January 2024.
For the Sixth Form, the assessment process is slightly different and the GCSE results of the pupil feed into whether or not a place can be offered. Please contact the Admissions team if you would like to discuss an application for Sixth Form.
In all cases, in order for your child to be included in the entrance assessments it is necessary for you to complete our application form. We ask for this to be with us before the Christmas break prior to the assessments in January. All applicants are invited to the entrance assessment.
