Welcome to Hymers College

Reading about a school is no substitute for seeing it in action, so I am delighted to welcome you to our Open Event, which will give you a taste of life at Hymers College.

Founded in 1893 by the Reverend John Hymers, “for the training of intelligence in whatever social rank of life it may be found”, the school has changed in many ways since then, but our priorities remain the same: rooted in community, aspiration, integrity and service.

In an atmosphere that nurtures energy, enthusiasm and intellectual curiosity, each student’s personal, moral and social development matures alongside his or her academic progress. We help our pupils to achieve their full potential, whatever it may be, in our friendly, caring and vibrant community. Do take every opportunity to speak to pupils, staff and current parents as you tour the campus.

I very much hope you have an informative visit.

Mr Justin Stanley | Hymers College Headmaster

On behalf of the pupils and staff, I would like to welcome you to today’s Open Event.

Whilst we have some fantastic facilities for you to explore, it is the people and what takes place within the facilities that makes the difference. We offer a wide curriculum taught by enthusiastic, caring and dedicated staff. They have a wealth of knowledge and experience, and excellence is at the core of all that we do.

Our aim is to provide a safe, happy, caring environment where every child can achieve his or her potential both academically and socially. Mutual respect between pupils and staff lies at the heart of this and we value highly the feeling of being part of a family.

Young, enthusiastic pupils who will be eager to answer your questions will escort you on your journey around the school. Like all children, they will be very honest! I do, however, feel that they are our best ambassadors.

Mr Peter Doyle | Head of Junior School
