These one year courses are specifically designed to give you the foundation skills and knowledge to go on and study a degree. The diploma provides an intensive programme covering study skills and knowledge required for chosen career paths, and delivers a qualification recognised by universities.

NURSING AND HEALTHCARE

ACCESS TO HIGHER EDUCATION DIPLOMA • LEVEL 3 You will cover a wide range of topics which cover anatomy and physiology, psychology, nutrition and digestion and health studies. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS A Level 2 qualification in English. WHAT NEXT A nursing and healthcare related degree and careers in midwifery, nursing, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, sports science, counselling.

ACCESS TO HIGHER EDUCATION DIPLOMA • LEVEL 3 The Science pathway covers all three disciplines; biology, chemistry and physics. The units cover a range of core topics which develop knowledge and understanding.

SOCIAL SCIENCES

ACCESS TO HIGHER EDUCATION DIPLOMA • LEVEL 3 This Access pathway focuses on core units within the realms of sociology and psychology including psychopathology, perspectives in psychology, sociology of education and sociology of family.

SOCIAL WORK

ACCESS TO HIGHER EDUCATION DIPLOMA • LEVEL 3 Students studying this pathway cover units that enable them to understand the challenges faced by those living in a community suffering social deprivation.

NOTES:

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Grade 5–4 or C in Level 2 English and Maths. WHAT NEXT Degrees in Sciences, Marine Biology, Biomedical Science, Forensic Science or degrees that require a significant proportion of science knowledge.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS A Level 2 qualification in English. WHAT NEXT Psychology related degrees in Forensic Psychology, Abuse and Crime Studies, Criminology, Social Sciences and Law.
