Money matters

History and Politics are forever changing and evolving. Studying these subjects at A Level will help you understand the modern world, challenge ideas and provide opportunities to debate provocative issues whether that be events from over 100 years ago or situations that will occur tomorrow! Across both subjects you will learn about different societies, past and present, develop an awareness of cultural and political issues and analyse a wide range of information.

A LEVEL • LEVEL 3 You will explore the key religious, political and societal changes that emerged within the early-modern period – 1500–1700, with a particular focus on Europe, and the impact of the rise in Protestantism. In the second year, students study the 16th and 17th century witch craze.

HISTORY (MODERN)

A LEVEL • LEVEL 3 You will explore the major political and cultural changes in the 20th century America through consideration of the changing political landscape, the development of the civil rights movement, and important changes to society. In the second year, students study warfare from 1790–1918.

POLITICS

A LEVEL • LEVEL 3 Current affairs are a major aspect of politics, and in A Level Politics you will consider the potential impacts that past, current, and immediate, political issues could have on our government and society.
