House prices see biggest fall in 2014 HOUSE prices in England and Wales fell by 0.2 per cent in September according to the Land Registry – the biggest monthly fall in almost a year. This means that annual house price inflation according to the registry has dropped from the August level of 8.4 per cent to September’s total of 7.2 per cent. That is the first time since May 2013 that the yearly rate has gone down on the Registry’s measure. The average house price is now £177,299, still well down on the £181,324 recorded back in November 2007. Reaction from agents has been mixed. LSL’s David Newnes sees one upside. He said: “There were 11 per cent more first-time buyer completions than a year ago, in part due to Help to Buy. With many regions still in a delicate balance of recovery, the government should be mindful of heeding any calls to curtail the scheme,” he said. Nick Leeming, chairman of Jackson-Stops & Staff, said: “The majority of areas in England and Wales are still below their value in 2007, demonstrating that rampant price increases are confined to micro-markets in London and the south-east.” Peter Rollings of Marsh & Parsons in London said the capital is still showing “healthy annual growth” but warns that talk of a mansion tax and other populist wealth taxes threaten to erode London’s reputation as a location for the Drop: House prices across England and Wales fell by 0.2 per cent in September, according to the Land Registry world’s rich to purchase homes.

Agent completes his marathon charity mission ROBIN Burne, manager of Bradleys Estate Agents in Budleigh Salterton, has successfully completed his final endurance challenge by running in Exeter’s Great West Run, flying through the finish line in 1 hour 44 minutes. Robin, who has been raising money on behalf of The Pituitary Foundation, Bradley’s official charity for 2014, came 450th out of a total of 2,663 runners and has successfully completed no less than three half marathons over the past six months. It all started with The Plymouth Half Marathon on April 27, followed by The Bristol Half Marathon on September 21 and of course Exeter’s Great West Run on October 19. In between the marathons, Robin took part in the Tour De Bradleys cycle challenge, cycling 116 miles in the first two days of a 312-mile long journey, while accompanying his friend and colleague Richard Greetham, who started off Bradleys’ partnership with the Pituitary charity following his own diagnosis at the beginning of this year. THE recent exhibition of Westcountry property held by the Property Sharing Experts network at its offices in George Street, London W1 was a great success. The event attracted potential buyers from the local Central London area and as far afield as Orpington and Heathrow. Buyers were looking for a wide range of property, many in the £350,000 to £500,000 price bracket and most for homes to relocate to, although there were also many enquiries from those looking to own a second home. Several of these potential buyers have arranged to travel down to the Westcountry over the next couple of weeks to

view properties. The exhibition was supported by the Property Sharing Experts’ 80 offices throughout Somerset, Devon, Cornwall and Dorset and experts from the counties were on hand to talk to the buyers. Amazingly, the very first enquiry was about a property on the Somerset/Devon border and Steve Alford from Robert Williams Estate Agents, who dealt with the enquiry, lives very close to the area the buyers were looking at moving to, so was able to give them some excellent local advice. Stars move quickly to buy luxury flats ALL of the one-bedroom apartments at the new Trinity Court development in Southernhay have been reserved. Estate agents Winkworth have announced the last of these flats is now off the market. The sales at the development have impressed local property observers with almost 70 per cent of the apartments already being reserved off plan. You say you like independent film making. Are Q you working on anything at the moment that people could maybe look out for? It’s all about finding the time. There is a group A of us from our university days working at the Odeon Cinema in Cheltenham.

We all lead busy lives, one of my friends is a journalist for ITV, the other is a scientist working on third generation DNA coding and lastly my actor friend lives in Ireland, so trying to meet up is always tough. We filmed a web series a few years ago which was selected for the Los Angeles Web Festival, so we are always talking about the next project. It could be another web series, short film or maybe even a feature film, but would definitely like to film something within the next year.

Back in April you were the highlight of BBC production ‘Under Offer Estate Agents on the Job’. How has the aftermath of that effected the way yourself and your team work in Exeter? Well it’s been very overwhelming and jarA ring going through it. The biggest surprise is nearly every single day someone will reference it

and I thought by this time it would have been forgotten. I guess I’m always going to be that agent who was on TV. From a purely business standpoint it has been fantastic for us because our instruction levels are higher than last year and the year before. That was one of the main reasons for doing the show – to promote how hard we work and to hopefully get that across to the public and it has been phenomenal advertising for Bradleys. You went on to win Bradleys manager of the Q year after the end of the series? Yes that’s right. We strive for recognition in ATo this job and we all want to be loved. win employee of the year and then manager
