DO you wish to convert your farm buildings to dwellings? 2014 has brought an exciting new development in planning laws, enabling the creation of up to three new dwellings within existing farm buildings without the need for a formal planning application for full planning permission. The new flexibility of use applies only to buildings which were in their current use on March 20, 2013, and on established agricultural holdings where no other permitted development has already taken place since that date. As one of the Westcountry’s leading
property agents, Stags strive to ensure local farmers and landowners are made aware of these changes by holding free seminars across the region. The most recent have been held in Totnes, Okehampton, South Molton, Exeter and Axminster, in conjunction with Thomas Westcott and a number of local solicitors. The seminars were held across two weeks and all were fully booked and attended by well over 60 people each night, which shows that these new allowances really are a hot topic. As well as permitted development rights,
the latest CAP reform update was given, outlining the new greening rules. As usual the seminars were filled with questions afterwards, and a number of staff from Stags and Thomas Westcott were on hand to assist.
