Attendees at the event, held at the Hartnoll Hotel in Bolham, were given a unique insider look at the advantages of investing in the current rising South West housing market, which Savills predicts could top 24 per cent over the next five years. Resounding success at Stags collective auction THE latest Stags collective auction, at Taunton Racecourse, achieved a total of ÂŁ1.459m sold under the hammer, from 10 lots. A packed room of farmers, land owners, and other potential buyers battled for a variety of lots, chiefly agricultural land and woodland. First up was a small building in Wellington, currently a small workshop with loft over. Guided at ÂŁ25k, it achieved ÂŁ24k with three bidders after it. Next Chantry wood at Goathurst, a 14-acre block of mixed woodland with a stream, and shooting rights,
was guided at ÂŁ75k; lots of interest in the room and competitive bidding ensured a result at ÂŁ110,000 (ÂŁ7,500/acre). Crossways Farm, Bagborough, comprising 11 acres, with a substantial group of traditional and modern farm buildings was a test of the new proposals from the Government. Interest in this lot reflected opportunities perhaps for development under the new planning initiatives, and despite being sold subject to an uplift clause it made a final figure of ÂŁ280,000, around ÂŁ25,000/acre.
