Reinventing THE

RULES

HOW BARRY LONG FOREVER CHANGED THE NWMLS Marketplace Sotheby’s broker Barry Long, in collaboration with the Northwest Multiple Listing Service, are excited to announce for the first time in the nation, people in Washington State will have the opportunity to list and find homes with accessibility, universal design, and age-in-place features.

Barry Long | Reinventing the Rules

This new accessibility section in the NWMLS database culminates a two-year research effort led by Barry’s team and Marketplace Sotheby’s International Realty, allowing brokers to detail a property’s accessibility features with the addition of twelve new areas covering various aspects of a property; from accessible approaches, entrances, bedrooms and bathrooms, to utility rooms. The fields are also visible to NWMLS users, allowing them to search over specific accessibility fields. The Real Estate Standards Organization (RESO), used by multiple listing services around the country to standardize search criteria for real estate, has recently approved these new fields at the national level, providing an opportunity for MLS’s in other states to adopt the accessibility criteria created by Barry and his team. This is a big win for our Pacific Northwest community and we are excited to share what we’ve learned. If you have questions about accessibility, age-in-place, or universal design residential features, please contact your Marketplace Sotheby’s International Realty broker for more information. |5
