Rav Chaim Kanievsky: “Moshiach is almost here. Whoever is able to buy the Machatzis Hashekel made of Kessef Tzori (pure silver) should do so.” Those close to the Torah giant, Rav Chaim Kanievsky, shlita, have not seen Rav Chaim as excited as he was when he held an accurate replica of the original Machatzis Hashekel which was used in the time of the second Bais Hamikdosh. This coin was presented to Rav Chaim during the month of Adar by the well-known maggid shiur Rav Yonasson Shtentzel. Rav Chaim, shlita, was delighted to see the staff of Aharon HaCohen and the tzintzenes ha’mann (on the sides of the coin) according to what the Ramban wrote at the end of his peirush on the Torah, which was written when he moved to Eretz Yisroel towards the end of his life and saw the original coin in Acco. Rav Chaim placed the special coin in his personal wallet.

This was recorded in the book written by his student, Reb Kalman Farber.

The Mekubalim Rabbi Dovid Batzri and Rabbi Yaakov Adas: “Aquiring the Machatzis Hashekel made of Kessef Tzori will bring bracha and haltzlacha.”

The messengers go out to all parts of Eretz Yisroel.

During the time of the Bais Hamikdosh, Bais Din would send out messengers to all the cities of Eretz Yisroel to announce the preparation of the Machtzis Hashekel, as it is written in the Mishna: “On the first of Adar, we announce about the shekalim.” Rabbi Yehuda said; Rabbi Assi said: All silver in the Torah is referring to Kessef Tzori. In Hilchos Shekalim the Rambam states: “On the first of Adar, we announce about the shekalim so that each and every person will prepare his half shekel, and he will be ready to give.
