Skal To design crab eating tools that elevate fine dining experience. 4 Months Project


Environment

Fine dining and casual dining in a seafood restaurant. The lighting is dim and ambiance is silent.

User

The user that we are designing for are inexperienced, messy and frustrated. They can be kids all the way to adults.

The details of the tool for opening and removing the shell of the crab.

Form follows function The shape of the tool was crafted from extensive research and insight into the parts of the crab.

Geometry that breaks The unique oval shape gives the edge to cut the hard shell of the crab’s legs.

Leg break

A detailed look at the leg break. It is the tool that is used to break and consume the meat of the crab legs.

Maintenance

The leg break can be opened to reveal the blade inside. This aids in cleaning the tool. Materials used are teak wood and mild steel.

This sketch contains our insights and personal experiences on how we use the bus. We based our analysis on personal experiences How might daily commuters “break ice� to reduce stress by socially interacting with each other in a bus during peak hours?
