The proposal is rooted in a single governing notion which draws concise parallels between the body and the built environment. The concept is born throught the communication between this two spaces. The ontology of this design can be broadly understood to contain characteristic of two principle states of being, two states that are tectonically conjoined and evolve from on another. The purpose of this project is to rejuvenate what once was. The Textile house would not only provide locals with job opportunities. Raw materials are such as cotton are to be grown locally at the textile house it self. Everything from plantation, cleaning, spinning, weaving, dying and even the tailoring is done in the same building. The objective of the design in this semester was ‘hijacking’ an existing space. This is where communication between spaces was vital in order for this project to work.

For two centuries Khaosan road, which is 20 minutes walk from the Palace, reamained a quiet residential area for the locals. Once was a textile district until the tourism boom happened. Since this project is in an urban setting, the only way of growing anything would be aerophonics through high density vertical growth. This requires minimal water and yield 20 times more than normal production.

Since there is a street way going through the site. Various massing was done to study the communicative potential between the two buildings. Flow between the spaces are studied in oder for a smooth operation.

The Orphanage Haven

The orphanage haven is a place of solace for the orphans. A place where comfort, safety and spaces to grow are important. The aim was to make the orphanage a green machine which will provide for the children and its environment around it. This means sustainable future for the occupants and the building with low to minimal impact to the environment surrounding. Everything from rain water harvesting, compose recycling and own vegetation growth with in the compound. Materials that are to be used for the building would only be locally found and doest not bring hazard to the people and the environment. Overall this is an intergration of nature and man built where the communication between the two is the utmost importance. Changing the future of the built environment one step at a time.

The site is located in Klang. The site is surrounded by factories and API ( Air pollution index) is fair high. The Orphanage Haven would be a total green zone. With its objective to give it the ‘moonrise kingdom’ feel to the children that stays there. Hoping that they would find comfort and peace in their sanctuary

The idea is to have each of the living area of the orphans a sense of sustainability. The basic idea is to have water harvesting and using it for daily usage like bathing,washing and also flushing. Electric saving by using low energy fitting such as led lights. The usage ofsolar panels on the roof to furthure reduce the electricity consumption. the idea of using planter box as handrails, this would reduce the deflection of the sunlight and thus illuminate the interior with greenery
