WNCC Cougar Yearbook

2023-24
A Look Back at the Past Season

Cougar Playing Locations

Landers Soccer Complex
Landers Soccer Complex is the home for the men’s and women’s soccer teams. The complex, itself, has been around for nearly 20 years and hosts youth soccer leagues and youth soccer tournaments during the summer and fall. Landers is also home for Scottsbluff High soccer teams.
Before Landers soccer complex was built, the Cougar soccer teams played at Southeast Veterans Park in Scottsbluff
Cougar Palace
Cougar Palace is the home for volleyball and basketball games. Cougar Palace is in its 55th year of existence. The first game played in the current Cougar Palace was in January 1969 and since then Cougar Palace has been home to many Cougar volleyball and basketball games, including many Region IX championships. On top of that, Cougar Palace has hosted high school volleyball state championships, high school basketball, youth basketball, youth camps, concerts, community events, and many more. The original Cougar Palace went from 1969 to 2000 and that was when the current gym configuration took shape.

The weight room was organized in 2019 and is much larger than what it used to be with several weight lifting bars, walkers, and bikes. It is located in the Williams Building.
The bigger athletic training room is located in the Williams building and had four treatment tables and a taping table and plenty of room for the athletes.

Cougar Playing Locations

Volunteer Field
Volunteer Field is the exclusive home for Cougar softball. Volunteer Field is located behind Cleveland Field on West 20th Street and was built, or rebuilt, in the diamond it is today. Volunteer Field has been the home of many Region IX championships and plenty of All-American softball players that have played softball for the Cougars. Before Volunteer Field, the Cougar softball team played at Lacy Park in Scottsbluff and also at the Carpenter Center in Terrytown.
Cleveland Field
Cleveland Field is the home for the Cougar baseball team. Located on West 20th street, this field has plenty of history in the Scottsbluff/Gering area from being an exclusive softball field at one time.
Cleveland Field took on a major change over the summer when artificial turf was installed in the infield. The outfield is natural grass.
