Sub-region titles could come down to final games Dawson grabs lead in women’s north, NJC, North Platte tied in men’s south sub-region The race for hosting the regional tournaments is getting tight. In the women’s north sub-region race, Dawson Community College is on top of the sub-region with a 9-2 mark followed by Western Wyoming at 8-3, and Northwest College and Casper College at 7-4. All four colleges still have five sub-region contests left. Dawson has two away sub-region contests, this Saturday against Sheridan and then Feb. 22 at Miles. The Buccaneers home contests include Feb. 12 with Gillette, Feb. 15 with Casper, and Feb. 20 with Western Wyoming. The Mustangs have just two home sub-region contests and three away ones. They host Little Big Horn on Saturday and then host Miles on Feb. 12. Then, the Mustangs are on the road to Gillette, Dawson, and Northwest Wyoming. The men’s race just got even tighter in the south sub-region race as Northeastern Junior College topped North Platte 7066 on Tuesday to pull into a tie with the Knights. Northeastern Junior College, who is ranked No. 15 in the nation, moved to a 1/2 game lead after they toppled McCook on Wednesday 89-78. The Plainsmen have won their last 11 games and sport a 23-2 record.
